Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • As outlined by you performance is dropping when you get to bigger hordes or later stages. But the concept plays well, you see a progression and find out where to go. I like the adoption of the Theme. Alchemy for better stats works well here as well as revealing of the land. I would maybe add a mechanic that plays on revealed (lit) areas vs. darkened areas, that you have an easier time defeating enemies here. It is a "survior"-esque game, so not many points for individuality, but I haven't seen this approach to survivor games yet. I like the sound and graphic design and I think they work together really well. Overall would like to see more, once you had time to polish the game.
  • The witch brewing with a sword <3 The enemies ramp up far to fast and make the game suuuuuper laggy. Lower the light drop rate and lower the enemies a bit till people can build a bit. Correlate it with how many pots they are running. Other then that the art is amazing and it feels suuuuper well with the theme.

yes

Tell us about your game!
We made a survivor like game with a collection based upgrade system. Darkness is an obstacle to overcome, as metaprogression you slowly light up the world. You use AWSD to move, P to pause, E to interact with cauldrons and torches, Mouse to aim the basic skill

Extra Notes
Originally we wanted herbs to be region specific and make moving around the map a bigger part of the gameplay. Map ended up to big for that, so we compromised on making enemies just drop stuff. Performance is another issue we didn't forsee especially with the game running in the browser. We definatelly learned a lot! Hope you still have fun playing, thanks for making this game jam possible!

I love survive-like games and the style and mechanics of this one are really interesting.

Unfortunately the game really slowed down as the enemies just seem to spawn in unlimited amounts and eventually made the game unplayable but before then I had a good time.

I like the art and the style is really cool. The creatures are interesting and very shadowy/wispy which I thought was cool. The crafting screen was a bit noisy but wasn't too hard to figure out.

I enjoyed mixing the ingredients to get buffs it was a nice twist on just choosing what upgrade you got in other survive-like game.

I'm not really sure why I was lighting the lamps throughout the game though? Seemed kinda pointless?

Still it was a nice game and if the lag was fixed I'd really like to get into it more to see how far I could go cos I really loved the style and the systems you got going on here!

A bit more intro guidance could have helped me get into and understand the game mechanics

I like the art style, especially the brewing with a sword

Very fun!  It took me a few minutes to notice the potion descriptions so maybe try and make those more visible.  Around 3 minutes into both runs I saw lots of weird dark spots.  I'm there seemed to be some light glitches where they wouldn't shadow the tiles next to them if they were supposed to.  I'm not sure what happened, but it caused me to die quickly.  If that's an intentional monster effect, possibly adding an outline around the monster in the shadows that's causing it would allow the user to still attack them.

Over all very fun!

I really liked the mood and the art; the game feels polished. However, it started to lag at some point. The idea is really cool and the GDD is clear, though it feels like a wall of text. Overall, it's really good!

Good job!

I like this concept a lot! Shooting waves of enemies and then crafting with ingredients to make more weapons! addictive gameplay! Well done!

This is a really good implementation of the theme! I'm not very good at these games so I don't think I lasted very long, but it was fun!

I like the mood, and the features there are pretty damn impressive.

Really cool game! I think a definite improvement would be to limit the number of enemies spawned. After ~a minute or two, the game starts to slow down.

Love the character designs!

I agree, I did get overwhelmed pretty quickly because I wasn't able to fire the little spells fast enough

If anyone is experiencing lag, please turn on hardware acceleration!

Also fun, but right when it gets good the 5 min boss kills you :(

Very fun! The cauldron is really cool and the game encapsulates the theme really well!
