- The game is a pretty neat demo. You've created an awesome atmosphere with the art design and music. Great job on your accomplishments here. I wasn't able to encounter any enemies or cast any spells. But I can see from the screenshots that they're there somewhere. Looks neat. I really hope to see you submit another game for the next game jam. You have a ton of talent.

This is an FS survival game. You have to cast spells from a book to survive and cross the dark forest.

so the spellcasting system is something i really like, i love seeing experimental stuff like this and that will always be cool to me. my main suggestions are two things: first of all, although having a limited resource to cast spells normally makes sense, i do think it would make sense in this case to not have a resource limit as the ability to cast spells is dependent on the completion of a minigame basically and thats enough already to limit the player, so adding an extra cost with the philosophers stones isn't necessary in my opinion. secondly i do think the player should NEED to cast a spell to get the game started, maybe by making illuminare necessary and have enemies come as a result of the darkness? i really like this game and its unique system, well done, with more spells, a more full gameplay loop and enhanced enemies i could see it working as a full release.
This is so encouraging; thanks for the feedback. Based on all the feedback we have received so far, we are planning to release a new version.
that's awesome! i'm looking forward to it!
Very nice demo, would really love to see this fleshed out and improved, Liked casting spells, and since they're all aoe it doesnt matter where you are looking so it just added more pressure when casting the spells to not see the enemies.
Thank you! We will work on a future version after the GameJam finishes.
I ran out of gems just trying to figure out what spell does what. Wasn't sure why I would need to use the illuminate one. As others have said, the view should be locked when doing gestures for casting. Otherwise, I really liked the way the game looked, great job on that.
Noted! This is a very valuable insight into our game’s lore and playability. We will use it to improve future releases. Glad you liked the aesthetics!
As others mentioned, the main drawback of the game was that casting the spells moves your view too much. Other than that it seemed really cool.
I completely agree, we will fix it in a future opportunity! This is a valuable lesson for us in terms of prioritizing features. Still, we are glad that the general ideal is somehow attractive.
It took me a moment to understand how to cast a spell but the idea of castin using movement of the mouse is really good. Personally I would have liked a static view while casting so that i could see in front of me, but stil the game is playable anyways ! Keep up !
The first time playing the game I didn't actually cast any spells and no enemies appeared haha.
I think the idea of using the mouse to cast the spells is fine, but it should probably lock the camera in place so the player can face the correct direction when casting their spell. I like the purple lighting theme a lot though, it has a good vibe.
Thanks for playing! You are completely right; it needs to lock the camera. We will work on that in the next version. I appreciate your feedback, and I am glad you liked the vibe. This is my first time using Blender.
Sick idea, I love the book and spell part. The only issue was I used all my mana and couldn't get any back so I just ran to the end. Good start though, just needs to cook a little longer to iron out the issues. Well done!
Thank you for your comments! Indeed needs a lot more tweaks! It means a lot coming from you. Your game is outstanding, and you nailed the rush we were trying to get. We will polish the casting interaction further in the near future.
