This was a great game. It feels real nice to control, but I didn't know that you could chain a jump after the dash for a long time, so I got stuck at level 2 or smth. But good job with this one. Only thing I'd want for the controls is jump buffering, and I didn't really feel the theme that much. Maybe next time you could make your own soundtrack for the game :) (it's just a suggestion, there's nothing wrong with stock music)
thank you for the feedback π§
jump buffering was is in my todo list
working on finding my way through audio - personally disappointed iβm not yet in a place where I can do it in a short jam, but will get there one day : )
Honestly great work! The level design, the music, the simple yet powerful gameplay mechanics all come together to make a game that's easy to learn but hard to master.
Wow finally something unique and with nice level design. The main mechanic fells complicated in a good way. Good job!
YOO i got on the leaderboard. but it like glitched. i died in the lava and it just transported me into the next level to thinking with fridges, i didnt take the space ship. Just in case you want to look into tha
LETS GOOOOOO π§π§π§π§π§
i need to make this more obvious⦠in the level with the big lava pit before thinking with fridges⦠if you are stuck at it for 1 min, a second ship comes to pick you up. were you at that level for a little while?
the βglitchβ just happened to be you were at the point of the screen where the ship came from and hit its collider (the collider is bigger than the ship itself, so it hits you before it is visible on the screen)
i should just disable collision on the ship until it arrives at the final position.
thanks a lot for reporting this and congrats on the leaderboard!
see, I imagine this was the culprit for the βglitchβ
That might be true but i dont remember a space ship in the image, i just fell into the lava and respawned in thinking with fridges.. But maybe i respawned accidentally on the space ship and didn't see it? I tried to recreate the bug but nothing happened . Also i just managed to beat this guy haha
The dash jump mechanic was pretty interesting, and it definitely has a lot of speedrun potential. I also liked the polish you added to the character's animations and particles, very solid game overall. Check out mine too if you're interested
Nice game! When I understood the dash and jump mechanic it was really fun. Thanks for the coyote timing tip, I already implemented it but can't upload beacause of the voting period
ooooo lets goooo π§
thanks for checking my game too
if you want one more tip for changing the feel of jumps, make the gravity going down slightly more than the gravity going up, it tends to make the jump less floaty - playing around with those numbers makes quite a difference
do you have any tips for me?
Really cool gameplay! i just didnt understand at first the level where you had to restart
Dude this game is awesome, my game had a similar idea, but I think your execution of it is so much better than mine, it feels so good to play, my only complaint is that you can't fullscreen the game, but I think this is the standard that all games in the jam should have, honestly congratulations
thank you so much for the kind feedback π§
I got other people telling me about fullscreen too, while for me (and others) it works - which makes it a real pain to figure out why/what is wrong with that. still iβd love to figure out it and fix it after the voting is over
Really nice gameplay! But I think it would be better to be able to dash without needing to jump when dropping down from a platform. Also nice background
thanks for checking it out and providing feedback π§
I went back and fourth so many times on this point you mentioned (allowing or not the player to dash if they just walk off a ledge). if this was a normal jam and a normal game Iβm 100% in agreement with you. I wanted to add a few annoyances (this is a flat out annoying mechanic in a way) that would potentially break runs if you make a mistake and walk off without dashing or jumpingβ¦ so yeah itβs a trade off
great idea for a game but the chain jump is tedious to do and isn't explained at all
I was expecting a lot more comments/complaints about the lack of explanation to be honest, and itβs okβ¦ some people like more explanation, some less.
I think games nowadays explain far too much and leave nothing for players to discover in terms of mechanics and thatβs the angle I was coming from.
itβs a matter of taste in the end, appreciate the feedback π§
Having a game be less hand holding is good but it should at least hint at how to do a very important move tech
I couldn't even pass the 2nd lvl without checking the gifs and reading more of the description
dash jumping isn't a speedrun strat it's a basic move you need to do for every lvl after lvl 1 so it should be understandable without deeper inspection
legally obliged to also say that this is my personal opinion, but think you made it too difficult for a gamejam where 1 death can make a player quit
this is a very polished game, from the light effects and shadows to the player feeling full of life, unlike many other games in the jam π§
i know I'll come back to this game multiple times
the controls are simple - excluding movement, the only things are restarting, jumping and dashing - making it easy for beginners to learn how to play quickly, but you can still do so much using just those three buttons
for example, the fact that once you dash, you can jump again, meaning you can jump over platforms and walls that you couldn't with just a single jump
and also in level 6, i thought the fact you had to press R to escape from the starting area was creative
but if i dashed too often i got a sticky keys notification :/
(edit: just noticed you can use the down arrow instead of shift so nvm)
other than that, i really liked this game
definitely one of my favourite games from the jam, which is why i gave it a perfect score π§
thank you so much for the very detailed feedback π§
didnβt even think about sticky keys because I always disable that, but that creates a reminder in my mind for the future to make sure thereβs an alternative button in case people donβt want to disable it in windows. Legit helpful for my next projects
That a good game, just maybe too difficult for me x)
bonkers game. logged an absurd number of hours but now I hold WR so it was worth it. 11/10
iβm truly amazed by some of the moves in that WR video
incredible stuff

Liked the game. Actually I had the idea of a icecube jump'n'run in my student time, never really got to it. Nice to see someone explore that idea!
Sadly I got stuck in the 2nd level at the right side...reset just bringing me to the same spawn, not sure if I missed something or failed to use some ability. Either way, nice game, followed you :)
And...damn?! That into music gave me SUCH HARD Gods ll be watching vibes. Is that music cc0? quite sure it was the same haha
the music, yeah thatβs from kevin mcleod, itβs in the about menu in game, itβs CC4 by attribution
thank you so much for checking it out
hereβs a hint (in case you want to try again)
people are right now in a race to see if they can get to 0:55 (full completion)
arw, sure you wrote that somewhere... just late here, to sleepy to read and remember ...sry haha
Great animations and art! Very fluid controls and nice difficulty curve. It's also easy to understand. I like that you can jump after sticking to a wall with the dash. Sadly the game crashed after entering and leaving the tab multiple times (I was writing this comment). This is probably my favorite game so far, good job!
thank youβ¦ Iβve been through a lot of insecurity about how much I should explain or let people discover, ended up at explaining almost nothing and trust that people would learn the mechanics if I gave them decent enough situations
feels super good to hear that π§ π§ π§
