  • Pregnancy content: I liked what is there quite a bit, the character and her changing stance really helped feel the weight of it all. Sadly there isn't anything beyond that right now, but there is great potential here. Gameplay: In its current state it is just a walking simulator with a few accessible rooms and some NPCs to talk to, which is... not much. I'm sure it'll be expanded on, but in this state I can't give it more. Creativity: VERY strong intro and setup, with the idea making sense within the setting as well. There is something here to be followed up on for sure, just gotta keep building on it. Personal thoughts: Ah, it really makes me sad that this didn't get to a more finished point within the alloted time, giving it such a low score in gameplay really bummed me out. I'm really intrigued to see how this develops and if the other characters (maybe even more than we meet right now?) get to have some fun as well, perhaps.
  • This game seems to have promise. While there wasn't much to the gameplay, the intro was very well done. I felt the art in the game was very creative and looking forward to seeing how the pregnancy is further implemented when the game is developed further.

Okay, to first address the elephant in the room; N-Saint and TheNyPod4 were rockstars in this community after last year's Aboard the Cosmic Cradle, and, especially in light of how upfront they were about burning themselves out with an insane work schedule on that one, anybody who expected a complete game from them two years in a row needs to just sit down and be quiet--these devs have earned a chance to do whatever they felt they could do. And what they did, while it is honestly little more than a proof-of-concept teaser, definitely appears to be at the same high level of quality we expected. I am, for multiple reasons, more invested in a proper Cosmic Cradle update than an expansion of Winter's Rest into a full game. That said, I see tremendous potential for this game to be interesting and enjoyable. The artwork is very nice, and the limited gameplay on display seems promising. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this one may lead.

I'm glad people are still interested in Cosmic Cradle! Moving away from Unity was unfortunate, but I think we're now better off for it. This game jam was great experience for me as it was my first time using Spine to animate, compared to Unity's built in animation, which was less robust IMO. RN we're using this time to experiment with Godot and see what kind of things we can do, by creating a smaller game (Winter's Rest) as sort of a test experience leading to Cosmic Cradle, eventually :3

Really loving the premise/idea of "super serious stone cold soldier must adapt to pregnancy" it's such an amazing concept,,, Given time constraints, I think what was able to be finished was still really impressive! The characters are interesting right off the bat and the art and animations are really fluid (i said it last pjam, but NyPod really does outdo themselves with this stuff,,) Preggo Content was nice for what was included intro story and sprite wise as well!

Regardless, it was still really interesting even in this early of a state and I can't wait to see it updated! There were a few issues I had while playing, but they're so small or easy to look over things they probably aren't very noteworthy:

- The Mechanic Cat in the Hangar(?) area doesn't have some sort of collision or way to prevent you from going behind them, so it causes a pretty jarring perspective issue as you just phase through them and clip the sprites, not major but it hurt my cashew sized brain

-I genuinely have no idea how I did this and I literally cannot replicate it again after multiple attempts but my first playthrough I somehow managed to not get the sprite change while climbing the ladder in the intro sequence, it remained in the walking animation

-You can trigger the second conversation with Dusk before speaking with the commander

Really good so far, excited to see more progression

It's a bummer you guys ran out of time, but the set up is great! Really looking forward to future updates!

Yo. really good begining. Base of the stori is great and the pregnancy are really justified. Music is nice and graphiqu is really unique. I really want to see wat hapen next. Im really intrigate with this gamplay in begining on the winter.

Thank for this view of your game and cya for the upgrad. :3

The game is unfinished, but it already looks nice! We will be waiting for updates from you!

My pc's driver sadly can't open the game, but the screenshots deeply intrigue me. I'm sure it's got serious potential if the other comments and the previous game you guys made are anything to go off of though!

Developer

I’d be interested to know what GPU you have and when you last updated your drivers for it if you know. I think Godot uses Vulkan as its rendering engine which might not be supported on some older GPUs but I can look to see if there are ways around this to better support more devices.

(+1)

(I think this is what you're asking for, never looked into drivers and gpus that much before)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3437U CPU @ 1.90GHz

I have updated my driver trying to actually get it to work funnily enough, even downloaded a pack of them from intel's actual website buuuut none of them were compatible lol

Developer (1 edit)

That’s actually your CPU. But this CPU comes with an integrated GPU. This means the GPU is built into the the CPU. Your GPU is “Intel HD Graphics 4000” and you can find drivers here. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18606/intel-graphics-driver-for-windows-15-33.html

That said, that GPU in general has limited compatibility for more recent graphics renderers like Vulkan. A driver update may fix your issues but I will likely need to look at creating different builds of the game with different renderer settings in the next update.

Noted. Thank you ever so much for the help regardless!

Man I wish you guys have more time to make this game because the setting, Character design and mood of the game is amazing but I feel like that kind of the problem with this game because I felt like this game was away bigger idea and I wish to see it when there is a bit more then just one day.

i seem to be having a glitch that crashes my game as the title appears, any way to fix it?

Developer

You’re the first to report this issue. What sort of computer are you playing on? Was the game lagging at all before the crash? The snow is rendered on the GPU so if you have an integrated graphics card, that might be a bottle neck. Other than that, possibly try redownloading the game. Be sure to let me know if you end up finding a fix so I can make sure others don’t struggle with it.

It makes me sad to see such beautiful artwork and interesting characters be so unfinished :(
I totally get the time constraints, and definitely feel the ambition behind the game, but there just...isn't really anything to say other than liking the artwork and what we see of the characters.

I actually love a stern and grumpy protagonist like Winter, especially for a pregnancy theme. It's a shame we couldn't get a taste for the main gameplay loop but everything currently in the game is looking good. The artwork and animations are obviously the main draw at the moment but hoping for some simple and addictive gameplay like cosmic cradle had in the future version.

Very good graphics and the mechanics are full of potential but too bad there's not a lot to do with it for now.

I love cute fluffy tummies <3

All the characters and art are fantastic and like all of Nypod4's work I love to see it! While the game is unfinished, it shows the framework of being a really fun day to day game and in general another great game! Keep up the amazing work you two, I can't wait to see what you add to it moving forward and what you make next!
