awesome gameplay, great controls! the presentation in general felt very polished, except that the camera moves waaay to fast when you flip the mouse.
especially impressive knowing it's your first godot game. great work!!
Thank you! The camera seems to be a common complaint. I'll do my best to improve it next time for sure.
Rly pleasant art and shooting to move is also kind of interesting, though a bit underdeveloped. Nice tying between theme and scoring, even though it does have the counter-effect of changing how you need to approach movement in a way, evolving still presents no trade-offs, given that you're forced to evolve if you wanna rack up your points, maybe there is some interesting adition to the game design to be found somewhere around there idk. Just a thought. Camera is rly buggy, got me a lil dizzy, but that's a game jam struggle for sure lol xD
Thanks, this is some good feedback! It would've been cool to be able to choose an evolution or something. Exchange higher fire rate for more damage or something, idk. In the future I would probably make the camera move less and limit how far it can go. Nice profile pic by the way.
Thanks!+ Spent a night on that .gif rofl xP The fire rate vs more damage idea is a simple good one!+
"shoot to move" huh, i love the idea, i think i'll do something like that too someday.
apart from that, great submission, i found the sprites to be quite charming.
Thank you! They might be my favorite part.
Great game, it's quite unusual to shot to move buuuut it's an interesting take on navigation!
Thank you! Yeah, it seems to be kinda hit or miss. I did movement that way because the jam page said to think about how it will play on mobile.
Really fun game! I occasionally got disoriented with the combination of moving only with the mouse + the player not being centered in the camera all the time. Regardless, loved the interpretation of the theme and overall this was really solid and polished!
Thank you! I can understand why it was disorienting. If I had better judgement I would've added an option to reduce the amount that the camera moves and made it move less by default.
I played your game as well and I like it! The idea is challenging and interesting. I just wish I was better at math tho lol.
Great visuals! Had a lot of fun with this one!
Thank u!
I am egg. I must shoot.
As all eggs must do.
It's interesting and fun, I wish that shooting and moving weren't together, it's great anyway, I like it!
Thank you!
Really cool effects! The camera movement not being centered around the evolving bug ship thing was an interesting mechanic; it played with my sense of location. Good job!
Thank you! Also, I quite like the art for your game. Bravo!
Really nice game :)
Thanks man!
Really sick and great fun :D
Thanks! And with a title like "Eggs with Legs" I just gotta check that out lol.
Really nice game,
It's very polished and fun to play. Moving and shooting at the same time felt really hard but in a way unique to the normal top-down shooter.
I love how in the later stages it's like bullet hell and you really need to think your moves through. However since there are too much going on the game could lag, so maybe make sure to optimize this slightly or balance it out so you don't lose frames and in turn lose the game
Really nice art and sound design.
Good job!
Thank you! I was able to improve performance several hours after the deadline (I just got rid of a lighting effect) but that was before you commented so I hope it's still not too laggy.
Great game. It's in a very polished state for a game jam. The sound effects and art go well together.
I'm personally not a fan of moving and shooting at the same time with the mouse - it makes it hard for me to process in real time what I need to do and in the latter stages of the game I'm just moving around and hoping my bullets hit something.
The system works well in the earlier stages when there's less enemies/stuff going on, so I'm able to process if I want to keep shooting at a target, or avoid bullets.
I've got no strong suggestions on how to handle this, but maybe have a targeting cone in front of the player and allow bullets to home in on enemies in this cone?
Thanks! I think some auto aim would be a good idea! Especially for smaller screens.
Nice one. That was intence.
I honestly liked playing this game! Two things: (1) the stars in yhe background are too bright, sometimes they make the game hard to read. Try reducing the contrast? (2) I ended up losing because there where too much objects to display on screen. The game started to lag and my fps dropped drastically. I died without knowing how or why.
I like the evolution, becoming stronger as the game goes. I like the one-button concept. I like the art.
Thanks for the feedback! I might adjust the star brightness if I'm able. Idk how many things I can tweak after the deadline. About 9 hours ago I was able to improve performance moderately, but I'm guessing you played after I made the changes. There's also a windows download version if you want potentially better performance.
Thanks again!
Very good design
Don't know why but I really like this one!
Thank you!
