The game's idea is excellent. You are trapped in an office and must get out of each floor by collecting an elevator key card placed on a random desk before the manifestation of your self-doubt gets you. You can also collect papers to slow down the spirits. Each floor gets tougher as it generates more manifestations of self-doubt. That being said, the gameplay is left to be desired. Escaping each of the floors is tough because of the following:
-The manifestations are fast. Once they catch up to you, you're toast.
-Tripping on the cables is pretty much a game over unless you press the space bar to get up (which the game doesn't tell you).
-Because the key cards are placed on a random desk, clearing each of the floors is determined by luck. I found the bonus level to be easier than the first level of the game.
-4th and 5th floors are brutal! I thought getting chased by two green figures and one blue figure in the 4th floor were annoying, but then came the 5th floor and the game spawning THREE green figures and one blue figure. Plus, the desks were seemingly duplicating themselves and getting in my way. I have no idea how I beat that level.
If you want to update the game after the jam is over, I recommend nerfing levels 4 and 5 by a lot and probably introducing a tutorial level to allow the player to understand what they're getting into. That being said, this is a well-made game despite its flaws.
Oh wow! Thank you so much. This feedback was amazing, and this alone motivated me in a great way to possibly make a post-jam patch, free of a deadline. My original plan was to make 10 Floors, with prebuilt layouts, or modularly randomized (like rooms in Isaac). I will DEFINITELY consider a Post Jam Update or even two, And definitely nerf the future floors, and i will also revamp the "get up" system for the wires (at least say it exists). Thank you for your feedback, and thanks for playing :). Happy Halloween.
"Collect work files to appear useful" me every day.
This was exciting. The concept's fun and the office is designed well, and I really liked how it starts to distort on higher levels. The difficulty seems a little much (tripping over a wire should perhaps not be an instant death sentence?), but it contributes to the scary setting, and I think it was a cool idea.
Dang, its very hard, but put together well. I would definitely say that zombies are far more horror inducing than self doubt tho! haha Self doubt can create zombies though...Good Game.
Very pretty game and sounds were designed nicely. A little tutorial section would be much better than a how to play option. Good job overall.
ooF that's challenging! That's some epic fast-paced action lol. The sound and overlay as it chases you really adds to the feeling of overwhelming anxiety. Really nicely done and so glad to see more GDevelop games on here!
This was a challenging game at first, but after getting more used to the mechanics I ended up enjoying this game a lot. So a very good game overall (Its also nice to see another Gdevelop game)
This was quite the challenge. I liked that you have to learn the patterns of each room and locate the card. Nice one!
Man, this game is tough!
Very nicely done graphics and runs very smooth.
As a side note/bug report: I accidentally tripped over a wire after dodging the "self doubts" and soft-locked the game lmao.
