I made a video of your game. I tried to show as many dialogue in the game as possible and managed to get both endings in the game.

Developer

Aw, that's really cool! Thank you

I'm not going to lie, I was somewhat lost but also really unnerved by all the things I decided are all good and normal, and things that weren't amiss at all :D Good experience! And solid too, the interaction/looking system worked great and it was fun to explore in the point and click world. I liked the characters too, and I think I might need to play few more times to get a really hang of what is going on ^^ Great work!

This game was wow really very cool for a jam game, I kept on waiting for it to end but it was just getting better and better, really enjoyed it, nice, great job

This was so much more of a game than I was expecting. Really solid for a jam game. I enjoyed the style you went for and the story was pretty well written.

Very nice game, would love to see more body horror and gore :)

Love the stylistic approach you made with this project. The atmosphere was really something else, great job!

Really impressive writing and world building. Mundane dystopias are depressingly engaging~
I'm not sure if it's a bug or an intended effect but during the first night I entered and exited the bathroom and the sprite had flipped, so I spent the rest of the game moonwalking.

Developer

Thank you kindly! I figured I'd try to ground the setting in a fairly mundane dystopia, to contrast with the more fantastical elements, yeah.

The moonwalking is a bug, the game can lose track of where you're moving under some circumstances. Quitting to menu and loading the autosave clears it, just changing rooms unfortunately doesn't. Didn't end up having time to fix it before the end of the jam.

i loved everything about this game-- the sound design was some of my favorite i've seen so far. i love the designs and the worldbuilding, and i'd love to see a longer game to show more of that off! it wasn't super scary, but it was unsettling in a very real way and i think it translates well to the setting you set up

Developer

Hey thanks! I was indeed going for more unsettling than outright scary, so I'm glad that translated, yeah.

Fantastic writing and world building. Very immersive.

Wow, incredible writing and world-building! I was really immersed in this world and would love to experience more of Laura's story. The prediction minigames were very unique and added to the unsettling cosmic-horror vibes. Exceptional!

I can see that you put in a lot of work into the art and story. Lovely game, I enjoyed it.

Nicely done! A little hard to follow at times, but still entertaining. Great work!

Loved the world and the art, The gameplay style was very creative and fun to play as well, great job.

really loved the writing for this, the world building was great but i loved the themes the most. it really built up this idea that your character is othered and her reaction fells like all you can do when it happens to you. it was very unsettling but not in a traditional horror way, in more of a 'agreed upon and cooperative societal evil in the background of people trying to live their lives and as themselves' type of way. one of my faves of the jam so far!

The story, the sprites, the setting, and the worldbuilding is amazing! I think this one of the longest games I've played in the Jam. Also, how far does the game go? I've got to the part where you see a kid-like drawing of the boss and the kid-like drawing above the office and couldn't go any further. I would like to see where you continue with the game.

Developer(+1)

Hey, thank you! The part you describe is almost at the end. Interact with your workstation and then with the fusebox in the boss's office and you'll see the first of two endings. (On the other path the second dream doesn't cut off early.)

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Ah, I see. So that's how it works and got one of the two endings.  I'll also have to replay the game to see what the other ending is. My guess is that you get it by getting more upstreams in the 1st analysis and getting more downstreams in the 2nd one. Because when I had more upstreams in both analyses in one playthrough and the opposite in the other, the boss told me to recheck the data in the second analysis in the 1st playthrough while he told me to recheck the data in the first analysis in the 2nd playthrough.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

You got it! The analysis results determine what ending you get. If the boss doesn't tell you to re-check the data, you're on the path to the ending you're getting (with the crude drawings in the office.) To get the other ending (with the longer dream), you have to get the "recheck your data" result for both. (I think the order is "more downer" results for the first prophecy, "more upper" results for the second. Or just accept every data point, that should get you the second ending.)

This is a very rich and detailed game, with lots of lore and world building elements. Very well done :)

impressive lore and content! I loved the character building! The audio is reeeeally quiet though! Great job, keep it up! <3

Very interesting game, a lot of lore and world building.

Awesome, I really like the world and society you've created, it's very intriguing! I promptly made sure to save the two non-birds and discard everything else :)
