Nice design.
Not really my kind of game, but the aesthetics are nice. purple, green and orange are not only great for the season but a pretty great display of your knowledge of color theory.
Literally I love the color theme of the game ! The artwork and the sounds effects are great! As others have mentioned your game has some collision issues but that's fine in a game jam! Overall your game is awesome!
thank you so much!!! I've already updated the game a ton :)
I have fixed all collision boxes, more spells, a story! An objective ๐คฃ, more difficult enemies. Better map, etc!!!!
Thanks so much for playing
Game suffers from collision box issues but that can be understandable for a jam game. Although being fun at first, spell-casting becomes quite repetitive. Adding combos and maybe Arx Fatalis style spell-casting (using mouse to draw runes and make the spell) will make it more fun. Tutorial guys location is a bit odd. I think he should be the first thing player encounters. Game almost have zero direction what to do next or shows the objectives clearly. Most of the time I blast the purple guys, which is quite fun but it becomes dull because of lack of general direction. Very good art style, color selection, though it is far from the theme of the jam.
Is this harsh enough :)
thank you!!!! Perfect!!! And I have Fixed it all!!!! :D
I've added a ton! And most importantly. Direction! XD
I've added a new post, explaining what I've updated. Thanks a bunch for your input. I'm excited to continue to update this game. It will be incredibly simple to add dozens of new spells and animations and combos. Super stoked. Thank you for playing!
some new AAA games could have a look at that spell casting, feels cleaner than in a lot of other games
The visuals and environment look awesome, love all the shaders you've got going on here. I like that it's mechanic heavy, the spellcasting is satisfying it just needs a bit more time. Hope you continue adding some updates to this there's definitely something here! excited to see where this project ends up.
Fun game, more fun than scary, and as others have sound would make a great action game (which I will play once you develop it more) and enemy variety and spells were great, One issue I encountered was that even paused the enemies can still walk towards and attack you, the scroll for spells would be better in my opinion if activating or using the option for left-hand moves the spells to the left and vice versa and enemy design could be more interesting than spandex man, I was also able to camp out for the last hour at the place that says "Later in the night, more loot, more hostility from cannibals". But for a game made in 3 days, it's really good, I'll be looking forward to more updates.
Thank you for the feedback!!! Much appreciated, spandex man is hilarious lol, seemed like the easiest way to rescale and texture new enemies, at the time. Ill be pushing out more updates for sure!!! Thanks for playing
Very beautiful, and quite fun. Gameplay was very good.
Thank you :)
Wasn't very scary, but was pretty fun. Good job!
Definitely not too scary. Whoops. Thanks for playing haha
amazing graphics and vfx. I really like that you used shaders in the game, which allows you to create a unique gaming experience
Definitely a good one. Gameplay was awesome. Keep up the good work!
Really impressive game liked the gameplay though I did kill the npc's since they kept following me popping up text so when it reached 6+ nothing happened not sure if that is just what the ending is or if me killing the npc's messed it up. Really nice list of spells and glad the enemies improved along the way as well, helped keep the game fun and kept me engaged wondering what the next spell I'll get will be and what new enemy will appear. Few things I'm unsure about is the spells sometimes just went through the enemies only seemed to get consecutive shots off if I made sure to get head shots or right in the middle of their chests. The fence in the middle of the map was only collidable on the side the gate was on all the other sides you just went through which was a bit odd, and I was pretty lost overall on what I was supposed to be doing the stones kind of just told me to kill stuff so I did and then nothing really ended up happening after 6 again if it is because of me killing the npc's my bad ignore my comments about the end. Though I do feel some more direction would be helpful. My final comment is in the theme as someone has already mentioned it doesn't really fit the horror theme it is more fantasy action adventure if anything.
There were a couple other things I might change but they were minor like having spells already obtained not drop but nothing major the ones listed were the big things that I came up with while playing it. Hope some of this is helpful feedback something akin to what you were looking for. Had a fun time playing your game specially in the variety of spells, well done.
The game is incredibly enjoyable, and acquiring new spells added to the overall experience. However, if I were to mention something I didn't quite connect with, it's the feeling of overpowering control that the game gave me. In a horror setting, I typically seek a sense of unease, where I feel that something is amiss with the world or the situation I'm placed in. Nonetheless, it's undeniably a fantastic game
Thank you my friend!! Im glad you had fun, thank you for the review!
I Agree, I wasn't able to stick to the "horror" theme as well as i wanted to, but i plan to update it in the future :)
What would you recommend for a sense of unease? Ive been told, more fog, more difficult enemies, maybe an enemy state, that stalks you? instead of straight up attack mode. Also, better environment, that forces player into corners and into ravines, etc!
As a novice Unity developer, I believe you possess a deeper understanding of the technical aspects than I do. While I may not have the qualifications to provide a detailed response, I came across a YouTube video that significantly influenced my perspective on how I wish to approach the development of my future games. Love it!
Thank you!!!
