Nice game, very creative. Great job!
I really liked the premise of the game, I've seen that you didn't join the jam from the beginning and I wish you would have had more time to develop the game, because it's a pretty fun idea
Thanks for the comments, it seems as though a few people are enjoying the idea behind the game, hopefully once I get a bit more experience behind me I can revisit the project in the future to work on a fuller more complete game based on it.
This was really cool! I liked trying to think about what nightmares would be scary to which people, though it seems like Carl is just the biggest scaredy cat of all and you get great ROI on spooking him! I actually like the art and user experience and think that with a bit of added content and more characters with unique fears and clues as to what spooks them would make this even better! Great entry!
And here's a video of me playing through if it's helpful !
Heya, thanks so much for the comments and feedback, definitely would be looking to implement more characters moving forward if I continued on this, as currently the characters stay the same, but they each have a random factor for each nightmare which recalculates each nightshift, hence why sometimes nightmares have a great impact and other times they don't. I would also hope to implement something that will give you a general idea as to which nightmares will effect each person too, but without giving away too much info that it makes it too easy.
Thanks so much for recording the gameplay video too, was fun to watch someone playing it. :)
I felt more encouraged to spend all my tokens on the most hardcore nightmares to give Carl whose wife left him to join the peace corp, rather than try to accrue points. Fun little maniacal god-game, this could be a lot fun expanded upon mechanically and with some more coats of paint, but its fun right now as well!
Thank you for your comments, I totally agree with the fact it would be more fun if it was expanded on in the right areas, I'm just spending my free time atm entering a few different game jams to try and develop different skills, then once I'm ready I will hopefully revisit/remake some of my ideas into bigger projects outside of a gamejam environment.

Good game! True, it seemed to me that it is most advantageous to use only ghosts.
I also accidentally found a bug: when you used a ghost once at the very beginning and then restarted the game, went to the scene where you need to use a nightmare, it was empty.
But the game was not bad!
thank you for playing and rating the game, I know the balances are a bit off still, but it was a fun concept to play around with, hope you had fun. :)
Pretty fun and silly! Highest score I got was 71. Would you rate my game too? https://itch.io/jam/scream-jam-2024/rate/3054228
Thank you, it can be hard to implement my types of games into some jam themes, as I tend to focus mainly on management/simulation games (purely as they're my favourite genre). I know I need to be willing to experiment more, hopefully with a few more jams under my belt I will start branching out into other types of games, such as roguelike and platformers.
