I missed the voting period (Sorry!) but I ended up playing through the whole game! Great start to my halloween night, I thought the whole thing was great, it felt very polished (echoing other comments, really impressed by the voice acting quality)!

Developer

Hey thanks for playing! Glad you liked it!

Submitted(+3)

I think the voice acting is amazingly good for a jam game and imo it really elevated the experience! Congrats to everyone on the team it was a great game!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed the voice acting :)

Alright boys I played this on the first or second day of the rating period and got stuck early on not knowing where to go and ye convinced me to try again.

I beat it now. I am not disappointed. Still, like I said, I like the graphics and am a sucker for voice acting in indie games. Your game is very solid and gained extra horror stars since my first rate as jeez did the monster freak me out when I got to the gunfight area... its movements are fast and unnatural and I believe that you engineered a situation that felt both fair and terrifying because you are constantly swiveling around trying to track it and get jumped if you fall short. Additionally, when Sherwood said he could hear me and then distant gunshots sounded--that was very well done there. I enjoy the completeness of this game and had a lot of fun. Don't forget me when you're famous.

Also a minecart and couple of crates stopped rendering oddly when I got close to them, in the mineshaft. Minor bug.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving it another chance! Really glad you liked the fight with the monster and the story/voice acting!
Haha how could we forget a name as iconic as Exploding Donkey?

As for the disappearing objects bug mentioned, did you download the most recent version or play the version you previously downloaded? I believe that was fixed in the most recent update (during the timeframe when bugfixes were allowed).

Thanks so much for taking the time to play again and give us some great feedback :)

Submitted(+1)

I did play the previously downloaded version, so that must be moot then.

Submitted(+3)

Excellent visuals and sound design. There is a lot of details in the gameplay too.

Really cool game!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! We appreciate the feedback :)

Submitted(+2)

WOW, so much was done! You really did a great job! The visuals, the gameplay, the voice acting, everything is very well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and the positive feedback! Glad you enjoyed it!

Bro this was like being inside of a B movie :D

Really great! The screen filter and shaders really steal the show here.

That boss battle in the end, all jam restrictions considered, really well done: it gives you the tension and time to react.

Perhaps the only thing missing was some visual aid to indicate where to use each item. You could kind of guess but maybe for someone who hasn't played many games wouldn't be that obvious.

Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Haha awesome! That’s a great compliment :)

My cousin made the shaders and I’m sure it’ll make his day to hear his work really paid off!

Glad you enjoyed the fight! We’d love to spend some time after the jam to polish it further.

We’re also planning to add some interaction prompts and other ways of increasing clarity to help guide the player.

Thanks for playing and providing great feedback!

Submitted(+3)

Production values here are high af, and that's respectable as hell for 1 week game jam. Like the amount of feel just something like use-animations add is mad and not even mentioning how much vibe the shaders give, plus thank god I could turn off the flashlight, ironically it was the thing causing me not to see anything at times, and the zoom was just fun. And of course, good job from the voice actors. Managed to carry good atmosphere until the end for me, and I think most of it was the sound design, especially in the cave. So good job on this, solid game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the positive feedback! We really appreciate it and we’re glad you enjoyed our game! We’ll see what we can do about that flashlight and hopefully polish that up in an update :)

Nice. Voice acting was well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Great visual style and attention to detail with voice acting and sound effects, along with creative puzzle-solving using tools like a crowbar and bolt cutters. The storyline is intriguing, with a nice plot twist and a terrifying monster encounter. However, the lack of an item interaction prompt and a task list made some sections confusing, and there were minor stamina bugs. Overall, it’s an engaging game with lots of potential—I’d love to see the story continue. Thanks for the experience!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for the positive feedback! We’ve considered it as a team and will be adding some small features to the game after the voting period ends, such as item interaction prompts like you recommended. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Very nice. Just me personally, but the movement and sprint speed was a little slow. I also had to restart the game a few times as I got softlocked.

  1. First falling down the cliff between some buildings in the second area.
  2. (I don't think I can add spoiler tags in itch.io? So apologies and SPOILER WARNING for anyone who hasn't played the game.) After the boss fight you can fall back into the arena, but you can't interact with the ladder to get back up. The boss fight also dragged on a bit too much to me. But other than that it was well done with hearing it scuttle about and catching glimpses between the debris.

A few people also pointed this out and me too, I wasn't quite sure where to go or even that I could interact with certain objects until trying to press E on something. Maybe an interact prompt?

The droning ambience was nice to set up atmosphere. Nice looping level design and retro aesthetics. And good set up for the horror.

Developer

thanks for the feedback! We will definitely get those bugs fixed as soon as the voting period ends, so thank you for the detailed bug reports. Additionally we intend to add a few quality of life features such as interaction prompts. Thanks for playing our game! We are really glad you enjoyed it, and my apologies for the bugs.

This is such an impressive submission, congrats!! Really polished and well made. My computer also had trouble running it, it started wanting to overheat pretty quickly.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Thanks for the feedback! We’re going to try to improve on it after the jam, hopefully we can fix the issues you encountered.

Submitted(+2)

Interesting setting that lends to a great atmosphere. Great build up into the main encounter with the monster. More player direction would help out a lot, but game was very enjoyable. Good job :]

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! We’ll see if we can improve that after the voting period ends :)

Awesome voice acting, pacing and atmosphere. Gives me a Resident Evil 4 vibe! I didn't get too far because I only have an old machine and it couldn't handle the game, but I really liked what I played!

Developer(+1)

Achieving RE4 vibes is a huge compliment, thanks!

And thanks for letting us know about performance issues on older machines. We’re planning an update after the voting period, so we can maybe look into adding options to make it more playable on older machines.

But we’re glad you enjoyed the part of it you got to experience!

Submitted(+2)

Well done! The aesthetics are so good. I think adding some hints on the UI about what the player should do next will improve your game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking it out and leaving some feedback! We’re planning to update the game once the voting period ends to help clarify things :)

Submitted(+2)

I liked the game! I missed a crosshair in the center of the screen for the weapon.

I had a little trouble understanding what to do and where to go, since I don't speak English very well.

Falling down in that place at the end and making that creature run gave me an unexpected scare, haha!

Overall, the visuals, dialogues and sounds were very well done.

Congratulations to the team!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and providing us with some great feedback!

We’ll take your point about the crosshair into consideration and possibly add that in an update after the voting period ends :)

We’re also planning to improve clarity on what to do and where to go as well, so hopefully that won’t be an issue anymore once we update the game.

We really appreciate the compliments!

Great visuals and VO!

Developer

thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!

Amazing game. I love shooting that gun. The sound and visual effects where outstanding.

Developer

thanks for playing! :)

Submitted(+2)

Wow, I Love this game, though i wish my computer can handle it, when i was recording, the fps was unbearable, im replaying it though!
PS: i love the gun model.. i just don't like the part where the monster knock me off the cliff, i was in the bush with the monster, until suddenly he pushed me over... i didn't even see the man :(

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing and really glad you enjoyed it! Sorry you were experiencing frame drops :(

Also thanks for replaying it, hopefully went smoothly the second playthrough. Did you post your recording somewhere? We'd love to check it out.

We really appreciate the feedback. We're planning to update the game after the voting period ends, and that cutscene is on our list of things we want to touch up :)

Submitted(+1)

Ofcourse! no problem! compared to my game, this is magnum opus.

About the recording, I'm planning on releasing them this saturday at my channel, I'll link your game on the description and on the comment, so they can visit the game out instead of watching my horrible fps recording xD!

Also also also, i tried the second playthrough, i do say the fps... were a bit.. uhmm... low but better when i was recording! it could be my laptop though so pay no mind! Good job nonetheless!

This is acutally a great amount of work with tons of information and a massive team. It is so polished and everything is well designed. Thanks for this amazing game.

Developer

Thanks a ton for checking our game out! We really appreciate the kind words and we're super glad you enjoyed the experience.

Really amazing game! I have so much to say about this game, first off I found myself standing right next to the bush as the cut scene started which added a whole new element to it LMAO.

I also really loved the voice acting I found myself saying the same lines moments before the main character would.

As for level design and everything I also thought it was really good  I appreciate the fact that you could go inside every house and everyone house had some level of interior decoration instead of just leaving the world empty and lifeless.

I was pleasantly surprised when the ladder became a two in one deal with a shotgun as well LOL I also really loved the final fight it was super fun.

the only negatives I would have at all is i randomly got hit immediately as the creature spawned and the first cut scene was a little confusing as to what was actually happening maybe due to where I was when the scene actually started.

amazing work you guys did a great job!!

Developer

Thanks for playing! :)
I'm happy to hear you felt like the dialogue was close to what you were thinking as a player. I'm glad that you liked the level and liked all those little details (we were very close to not being able to add them due to time constraints haha).

Awesome to hear you enjoyed the finale. Sorry you encountered that bug in the fight. We're planning to fix up that issue and hopefully going to clear up any confusion during the intro cutscene. Thanks for the great feedback, we really appreciate it!
