Pretty impressive that this was an RPG Maker game, its very rare seeing 3D games made from it so nice work.
Thank you! RPG Paper Maker has native 3D and I wanted to test how far I could push it for this jam. When I found out there was an unofficial RPG Maker “clone” with native WebGL that runs on three.js and has way more customization options for programmers, I simply had to try it out. I’m even thinking of reusing it for Scream Jam! Either that or Godot.
Love the premise. Short stealth sections interspersed with characters and story is a lot of fun. Taking inspiration from a painting is also so interesting. Great work! I'd love to see more of this one.

The game is very difficult to run in the browser. But I downloaded it here and it worked perfectly. I found it short, but interesting. Good job.

Short but sweet experience, I like the theme and story. I had a hard time moving the camera around though, but maybe that had to do with me playing on the browser instead of downloading it.
I would love to see the idea expanded upon and having more characters, I enjoyed interacting with the different prompts for each one!

I agree with the person commenting below me, it gave me nostalgic vibes of Runescape and Baldur’s Gate 2. It’s really cool that you had time to implement branch dialogs as well and it’s nicely written too.
The main difficulty I had was with the movement and camera. It’s really hard to navigate around the levels you designed because you cannot fully turn the camera which is kinda frustrating. I think you should choose between having a completely free cam and fixed one, it will greatly resolve those problems I think.
Overall, I would love to see more of this concept in the future.

Thank you! Yes, the camera isn’t perfect yet, if I enabled it to rotate freely I’d have to do something about the walls in front of the camera. Ideally I could make them disappear if their normals match the camera angle (they’re double sided), but I still have to polish my shader to enable that. I hope it can be done before the next jam!
I think this is quite the achievement for a solo game, so congratulations on being able to finish this in a week. It comes off as quite a studied idea and without spoiling the conclusion for others, I like the narrative twist and the gambit the player character ultimately loses out on in their quest. I took from it more that the character's defiance and rejection of letting go of grief is ultimately their downfall, subverting the heroic notion of the quest the game makes it appear they are on. The visuals are a little eclectic, but I think the ones that work best remind me of a modern Runescape style - nostalgic and lo-fi without being obtrusively retro. The fact you were able to balance in some dialogue and narrative and a series of simple stealth levels really fleshes out the game. I think, for constructive criticism, if you had more time to build on the potential of this game, it'd be great to see how creativity flourishes with more scene-setting and worldbuilding to ground the place the character is exploring, and find more of a seamless transition between comfy rustic interiors and decrepit dungeons. Great work.
