I really liked the overall presentation of the game. Especially the use of colors is very nice and gives your game a unique feel in comparison to the usual horror game looks. :)

This is really good, especially considering neither of you have much experience! There's a clear narrative, solid gameplay, I thought being able to bring people with you was particularly cool, and the sprites look nice. There are only really two issues with it:

- Redoing the intro to try again on death. I would've definitely given it more attempts if I could've just started from meeting Bloody Mary.

- Death screen is LOUD. Not scary loud, hurt my ears loud.

Thanks for the feedback and also for streaming my game. I got too excited when u streamed it xD. I agree with all your points. First of all, I got very disappointed when you only tried it twice but I will use this as a learning experience and not make this same mistake again. About that death screen...  it was my first time implementing audio triggers and I didnt do a good job of it xD, sorry about that

It was really only because of having to go through the intro each time, all the game needs is a Restart/Try Again button on the death screen.

This is a cool exploration/survival horror idea! There's some innovative elements like a wandering ghost, key-collecting and a buddy system that must have taken a lot of work to implement! Graphically, there are some good sprites here and the character animation is quite fluid. I think like many games of this genre it can get corridor-y, but I appreciate that there needs to be enough space to run from the ghost. All in all it's clear you put a lot of work into making the house environment and game work and I'm really looking forward to what you do next!

The groundwork for this game is good - the use of cutscenes and notes to setup the narrative works well. I think with more time, it'd probably work better to use these instead of walls of text, but I get it's hard to get everything all done in a week! I would have liked to learn more about Bloody Mary and the motivation of the characters to summon her...why the heck is this house so cursed???

Thanks for submitting A FUN SLEEPOVER to the SCREAM SOLSTICE game jam!

Thank you for the feedback! I am glad that you liked the base elements of the games and the art of it. I agree with you, that wall of text at the end of the intro really ruined the atmosphere and we hope to improve this game after the jam, giving a more meaningful and indepth background story to it.  :D

Re motivation: Can confirm from real life experience that attempting to summon Bloody Mary is a common sleepover activity at an American girls' sleepover. The particular version from my childhood was even worse than just chanting her name, actually. You placed a knife on the bathroom counter prior to turning out the lights, and Bloody Mary would allegedly reach out of the mirror, take the knife, and stab you. Children are strange.

Thanks for putting up a Linux version, worked great! I only got to see the ending #1 because the house is so large and same looking that I always get lost and eventually caught. Managed to get only 3 golden keys.

There is what I expect to be a bug - when you get chased in a hall way by Mary and dash away, you are faster than her but she get's pushed back into the screen whenever she reaches the edge. So I had all the other kinds on my tail, Mary appeared and I started to dash, but that only got all them poor kids killed. They were not fast enough or followed too far behind, it happened so fast I can't really say.

Story wise I think you missed a great opportunity. It starts promising with the invitation, greeting and introduction, but the turning point, the key scene where the summoning happens, is just told by a text passage that would be so much more thrilling if you'd get to actually play/witness it.

Thank you for your feedback! I agree, the house is large and I should have added a navigation tool like a map.

The bug you saw happened because the ghosts are supposed to patrol around the house at a very high speed when it can't be seen and it switches back to a normal speed when it is seen but that leads to problems like this.

About that rushed story at the end of the intro, it was never meant to be like that and I didn't have enough time so I had to cut down on the features we planned to add. I really really hate that part of the game and we might include in all the features that we didn't have the time to do. after the jam Thanks for playing!

I never had sleepovers when growing up, and now I am glad I haven't. This game has a great deal of polish and the developer clearly has put in much effort in the 10 days allowed for this jam. Some of the music is especially horrifying. The house is quite big though, I felt almost lost a few times, but there is a jump scare, but mum is the word. A very fun game to play at a sleepover I would think.

Thanks for your feedback! I guess, I should have made a map or something to make navigating around the house easier. Just to be clear, we didn't make any of the music and I agree with you, they frighten me so much that at times when I play it, I would close the game when there are ghosts nearby.
