Skanline is an incredible horror in the world of deep dark fantasy
Man, this one really got to me. Once the sounds started to repeat the exact same way I started to get used to them but I REALLY didn't wanna go looking around that house because of them. Excellent use of obscuring walls, and the mechanic of having to go out to find more tapes forced me to go out into the darkness.
For your first time taking on 3D in godot, I think you did a stellar job, particularly with the audio. Great work!
Right off the bat, great atmosphere with the sound design. Instantly created a strong, uneasy feeling. Unfortunately this waned over time as I realized there was no real threat, but with some escalations and environmental changes, you could really nail the creepy atmosphere. Great work, hope you keep working on it!
Really dig the sound design. The house's lack of detail and its layout made me a little claustrophobic, which I found unnerving and, in this case, actually enjoyed. Would be cool if the house changed with each tape played, or had different sounds or visual anomalies happening after. All in all, I enjoyed the game a lot, keep up the good work!
You got me spooped! I love-hate the sound design so much. Your entry scared me the most in this game jam. Would love to see your complete game idea someday!
Also a huge fan of the PS1 aesthetics. The TV mechanics work quite well! Keep it up!
Wow, those sounds had me spooked all the time. I was so afradi of turning back after watching one of the tapes and being jumpscared by something. Really good atmosphere!
Awesome environment design! I like the attention to detail with the layout of the house, flicker of the torch and television static, and the dimly-lit turns and corners. There's an obvious and effective platform to build on this if you have the inclination. The tape collection mechanic and house environment is executed well here and could easily integrate into something bigger as this is the bread and butter of good horror games. I also note it's your first 3D project, so it's really impressive you were able to execute most of this from scratch on your own in a week.
Thanks for being a part of the Scream TV jam!

I love the atmosphere, although I think it could have benefited from having a clearer ending and objectives.
nice atmosphere. Gave it a five star rating would be great if you did the same :)
Interesting premise with a spooky atmosphere, although the lack of direction just kills the joy.
I fully acknowledge that this is a game jam project, which is difficult to make considering all the limitations and time, of course. Nevertheless, I think the game definitely need direction, at least a simple not explaining what to do with the tapes, why is the ritual up on the second floor and what is going on, overall. Otherwise, the game has no major issues and it plays well, functionally.
Best of luck with the game jam and future updates. Cheers!
At first when I walking around and watching tapes I thought the sounds were really effective and creepy to the point I was staring at the door and watching the screen at the same time. Then I was just wandering around trying to figure out if there was anything else to do I realised it was just randomly playing and the uneasy feeling went away. I think turn the rate of the sounds down a bit and playing them after certain tapes being watched would go a long way. All to say at first this was an excellent example of effective minimalistic horror spookage.
The atmosphere and sounds are great! The handheld flashlight effect works well and I like the flickering. The spatial sound effects (not sure if they're just pre-recorded in stereo or are AudioStreamPlayer3Ds) are really good and made the whole thing really spooky, but the effect does wear off after a while and they may happen a bit too often. I found four tapes.
Had a good time watching all the lil videos! Can't believe they messed up Pikachu's tea party :( I was able to find 4 tapes, not sure if there was a fifth, but I spent some time looking for it. I might suggest lower the frequency of the random sound effects. At times it felt like just non stop noises that kinda made them lose their scariness factor
The game is aesthetically pleasing all around, the assets used are well made and the sounds in this game had me on edge for a little bit, constantly looking behind me to see if something was following me. Unfortunately, there were no monsters or anything life threatening.
Overall, the game gave a nice thrilling experience, had a good art style and was ultimately quite enjoyable. Good work!
