Nice little game! The gameplay is fun and the visuals and sound effects are great! I especially loved the big shark shadow accompanied by the iconic Jaws melody! :D Very well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it. As is common all SFX except the ambience and the melody is made with my mouth haha. Most of them cut so only the end of the recording is used.

Really loved the concept and feel of this! The shark was such a smart addition too.

Thanks! My idea was to not tell the player about the shark in the description or such in order to catch the player by suprise, increasing the tension as well. Did it work?

(+1)

Definitely! It all worked pretty intuitively and I  feel added the tension you were probably looking for.

cool game!! great music and fun game! XD 8 crabs and went nom nom because of big shark XD

Developer

I'm suprised so many are commenting on the music. Its only two notes playing at a tempo decided by the distance to the shark lol

A wonderful gaming experience! The use of music is fantastic and really enhances the atmosphere. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

The art for the environment and sea creatures were really nice! My highscore was 20 crabs.

Developer

Thank you! 20 is a lot.

Very fun gameplay and neat original idea and execution! Pretty hard to keep your cursor in that circle. Nice mechanic between that and following the cursor also. I like the visual effect of hiding and the shark is the best part!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Did you get suprised when the shark SFX started playing and shark came for the first time?

Submitted

Oh yeah, for sure!

I just love it!

The idea that hiding is both a game mechanic as a predator and a game mechanic as prey is really great! I really felt like I was part of the food chain :D

And keeping our mouse in the circle isn't that easy, especially under the shadow of the shark!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I have a follow up question if you don't mind: How did you feel the first time the shark came and when the SFX for it started playing?

Submitted(+1)

At first, when I heard the music, I thought it was a time limit and that the game was going to end soon. I told myself that the aim of the game was to eat as much crab as possible in a limited amount of time. Then when the shark arrived, my first thought was that it was the clever way of materialising this time limit and I didn't think for a moment about hiding, but rather about running away! Especially as the music is so stressful. Then, on my third part, I realised that I could hide in the sand and that the music was actually a warning! As soon as the music comes on, I get ready to hide.

Developer

That's a great little story there. I love it! Thanks for answering. I didn't say anything about the shark in the description or screenshots on purpose as an experiment to see how players react to a suprise.

Yes, I think you did the right thing. The surprise worked!
