How does your game utilize the limitation and theme?
I made the game with gems as collectibles. You can use the gems to upgrade the player, such as speed, jump, and others. Also, if the player has obtained at least one of the collectibles in the game, the door will open and allow the player to continue to the next level. Therefore, the player must go THERE, the location of the collectibles, AND BACK to its starting point to complete the level.

What was your team size?

Theme Party

Use a theme and/or limitation from one of the past 8 Bits to Infinity jams in addition to the main theme

Hidden Secrets

Feature secret items rooms or features in the game

If you did any of the optional challenges, explain how they were used:
I used the Theme Party challenge by using the 8 Bits To Infinity's previous game jam, the Platformer Jam with the theme called Darkness. I also used Hidden Secrets in adding a secret achievement where the player must obtain a certain item in order to unlock that achievement.

love the mix between collect and use the light to seek more gems, a counter could be nice, so at next run, we can use the gems more wisely.

love the cover art.

Coudl you check my entry? i'll appreciate it, thanks!

Really cute game! i loved the art and music. the way you did the theme was also a fun game play loop. Really great work!

It would mean a lot if you could check out my Jam submission if you get the chance. Thanks!

The flashlight area could be bigger, I kept losing the character :) also some form HUD would be great to show the player how well they are doing.

Fun platformer.  I wasn't sure how many gems I had at the shop.  The level 6 timer seemed too short!

the game looks too simple, I think you should add more different mechanics, also I would like to see my score in shop(tell me if I just missed it)

p.s

Check my game too, please

Really fun to play , I like  the way light effect  being used

The grapics arent the best but the cover-art is! Looked so dope, I just had to click it. The shop defenentally ads some strategy to the game. It asks you that do you want higher score or are you willing to invest on tools to get more score. The gameplay is interesting, i dont really know how the flashlight affected the game, but good job overall.

This is a very fun and cute game!  Using the flashlight to navigate was honestly really fun and trying to collect all the gems was exciting. The only thing I'd add is a way to see how many gems you have when you go to the shop. I guess there's no reason you'd save gems, but it'd be nice to know what to go for if I just need a couple more to get a bigger flashlight or whatever. Really cool overall, great job!

Cool game overall! Had fun playing it.

One thing that would make all the difference is having some feedback in the shop. Now I don't know how many gems I have and if I have enough for an upgrade there is no feedback when you buy something. So for now the best strategy is to click a few times on each and hope you bought as many as you could.

Also, currently there is no decision to make in the shop. You may or may not want to change that. Because the gems and upgrades are linked you just buy as many as you can from each. Instead there is a decision to make in which gems you go for. But since those are randomized and some are in places which are obviously not worth going for, most of the time the gem colors don't matter in my decision and whichever color I get is up to luck. And also you only have a split-second to decide which gems to go for.

On another note, it's an interesting idea. Every level you have to choose between risking your time and getting another gem. Great job!

Fun game, played before voting began but happy to give it another go. Well done

Like the idea, close to what i went for actually. Really wish there were sounds and maybe some way to see how many gems you have in the shops

Great game! Loved the flashlight!

Cool idea, I really liked the atmosphere and the flashlight feature. I dig the upgrades as well. Maybe add a counter for how many gems you have, otherwise it's some guesswork. Overall, really nice game!

Fun game, but kinda dark. I played twice and got to level nine both times but it seems like no matter what you'll be trapped in the mine forever.

Developer

Nah, there are 27 levels in the game. I've beaten the normal difficulty like several times and it's possible.

Ah, I just suck. I'm not very good at speed games. I tried again today and still just reached nine ^.^

It is a fun game, at least some people can give this guy a happy end.
