Very satisfying pacing. You avoided too much grinding and it shows in an enjoyable experience.
You also avoided mod traps that suck up time and I think that was a strong choice as well.
Very simple mechanics, very strong execution and great polish bringing together assets.
I like how you made certain enemies effect time once killed, I would have enjoyed more of that or even items that do something similar.
25min well spent.
I love RPGs, so I had a blast playing your game. The progression of the game felt really well balanced, and the combat was very simple and effective. At first, I thought that the speed upgrade means that I get to attack faster but then I realized it meant movement speed, so maybe an explanation of the upgrades would be nice. The music and sound effects also really fit well with the dungeon aesthetic. The game felt really polished and complete, so great job!
Hey thank you for your comment, I reworked the shop and the stat system, so now its much more clear, I will update the new build after the jam
Nice game, I liked it! Needed a little bit of time to find and remember the path but that was fine!
Current time (far from perfect) 16min 26 sec
Good job :)
Wow thats the best time I got in a feedback comment, nice one
I would recommend to tweak some parameters of your color palette, because the screen can be sometimes to saturated.
Overall, good pixelart shapes and music!
Keep it up!
I'd like to know in what I can improve my game too. Tell me when you can!
The game is a cool concept. I find the music very fitting and the art reminds me of terraria. Some more animations would make it even better but overall, amazing job. I'd love it if you could try my game too!
very fun game. Good job
I will be glad of you check our game too
Really enjoyed this a lot! Fun game. Like the guy below, I wanted to keep playing it. I like how simply you set up the story.
This was my favorite game of the jam so far. I actually wanted to keep playing rather than making myself play so I could review the game! The only thing, and I didn't mind this, was that I never ended up upgrading my movespeed at all because the main limiting factor was the battle time. So maybe upgrade attackspeed? like not make you just attack faster but make battles progress faster. That may be kind of hard to implement tho idk haha.
Please check out my game and lmk what you think!
You are correct, agi stat will be awesome, I didn't implemented it because I was running out of time but right now I'm working on that stat (attack speed and dodge) I think it will look really cool getting more attack speed and rushing through monsters. Gonna check your game and thank you for the comment
Very fun game. Excalabur 2 is the main issue I really have with it. Kept thinking it needed to be picked up when the timer was 0 not that it had its own timer.
Yeah that was really bad by me but ty for your comment
You nailed the sense of progression and the rewards for each iteration of gameplay. Beat it in 22:00 and enjoyed every second! I also liked how good positioning was rewarded in some rooms (attacking 2 enemies at a time. Felt super good to get the ultimate weapons. I wish I had more useful criticism for you, but honestly it was just plain fun.
Thank you for playing! Enjoy the rest of the jam!
Managed to finish the game in 27:48 minutes! Definitely addicting, super good game! One comment is that it took a while for me to realize that to get Excalibur II, you had to get there as fast as possible, not just wait for the timer to reach 00:00. Other than that, definitely worth a play! If you have the time, I'd appreciate it if you also played my game!
Yeah I got many ppl telling me about that problem with the Excalibur II, I think I'll just put there "Time remaining 00:XX". Thank you for playing!
This is really cool and I'd love to see it fleshed out into a larger project! These are just a few little nitpicks I think you could use to make your game even tighter; when you're fighting it's a little tough to keep track of your health and how much you're getting hurt. It'd be good if, say, little numbers popped up over your head for how much damage you take. Also, it's easy to forget how much max health you have so sometimes you just use a potion and hope you aren't using it too early. A little max health indicator would be great. Overall super great, and I hope you expand it even more!
Your feedback really helped me and I have already fixed those problems, after the jam I'll upload the 0.2 build
Awesome game! You know could have also done a card game type instead of a top down game. Yes for next time please do a card game with this same format. It would fit nicely. When the player does die I would recommend sticking with the keyboard and having the user press R to restart
Thank you for your comment, I will be definitely making the shop that way (mouse and also keyboard to buy)
I never thought I would play a Jam game for so long! This was a very addicting game and it is very Well done. The Excalibur II was over powered. The music and every sound effect was spectacular!. Congrats on your entry.
This kind of comments really makes my day! Thanks and have fun in the rest of the jam!
I loved the concept a lot, this could be expanded into a full game.
The combat system is very clever and adds a bit of puzzle to the game! the art is also nice, but it could use more animations. The movement is also a bit stiff as you cant change directions easily. Overall, it is a really clever game idea. Great work! It would mean a lot if you could check out my Jam submission if you get the chance. Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback and have fun in the rest of the jam!
I had alot of fun with this game! I liked the combat and stat system alot
Thank you for playing!
This is a very enjoyable game. I really like how you incorporated the theme and collectibles. I do have to say that was an interesting combat system, it works really well for your game! Well done and enjoy the jam!
Thank you! It means a lot
