Nice submission!

As many have said the music helps set up the atmosphere here quiet good, and joyful experience overall.

I do agree with the one that said that the level design could've been slightly better, but that's understandable for a limited time game jam such as this one.

Good effort :)

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah atmosphere will be a big part of this game when I expand on it.

This music was haunting haha.  I like some of the visuals and that monster scared the crap out of me.  I agree with the person below that it's hard to tell where I was walking sometimes.  Nice effort!

Developer

Thanks!

Yeah the visuals need some work for sure, but im working on it!

Nice game. I really liked the music and it felt very atmospheric. The optics are very busy and confusing unfortunately - couldn't really tell what I was walking on.

The mechanics are solid, though I would have prefered to introduce them one by one (making a torch for the first time, later finding the trap etc) and not be available from the get go.

Developer

Thanks!

Yeah I had plans for a tutorial but couldnt get to it in time :(

A spooky little game.

I like the idea of running around in freezing temperatures and trying to avoid freezing to death. This plus the nice music gives the game a pretty eerie vibe. I like that. I wish the music would not turn off at some point.

The character design is also pretty nice and a reusable trap is a great idea. I hate when games don't let you things like this.

I think with more lights and maybe fog so you never know what is lurking in the shadows and the fog  could make the mood even more eerie.

Good job! Especially for doing everything by yourself. :)

Developer

Thank you thank you!

Agree with the music - I actually tried modifying the song my musician gave me to make it loop but I couldn't get it to sound right on time.  It's easier when you have a song that's built for looping.

That's for sure :D But also without music it can be quite interesting if the ambience sounds are good and spooky.

Some nice touches here. I thought that monster was quite frightening, and felt very clever for trapping him in the steel trap and then killing him with relative safety. :)

The music is not bad. Sound effects are all serviceable.

Some visual issues. The path tile strikes me as too busy. When in a dark room, the torch barely casts any light at all--it really should make it easier to explore those spaces.

There is no message to let the player know that they've just died, just an automatic return to the main menu.

Developer(+1)

I'm glad the monster was frightening. Thank you!

I'm already at work fixing the lighting effects, and I'm also planning on making better looking tilemaps.

Love to see other Godot devs! The music and the horrible, faceless creature attacking me were genuinely off-putting, love it. I had issues with lighting and shaders when I exported to the web from Godot as well.

"(PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR HEALTH + FREEZE level or you will die eventually)" - 🤷‍♂️ we all die, eventually

Developer

Thanks! Yeah Godot is a pretty great engine. Ill have to play around some more with the lighting  and see if I can make it look nicer.

Neat little creepy-pasta game. Reminded me of Lone Survivor in a way. That monster caught me by surprise. The game could benefit from having the sprites guiding the player a little more, I was sometimes lost between what were walkable areas and what were obstacles.

Developer

Thanks! Glad it felt creepy/scary that is the mood I was sort of going for.

Hey guys, loved the aesthetic. Felt very creepy and immersive. Especially when one of those weird monsters comes at you from the dark. I also find it really cool that you made all the art (including audio) assets.

For improvement and future updates, I would work on your level design. It felt quite random how it was put together. You could also do with a map to help the player navigate.

Good work, keep on jamming!

Developer

Thanks! I worked hard on all the art and sound effects so I'm glad you liked it.

Yeah the level design needs work.. I spent most of my time getting my player and other mechanics working, so the level was made very quickly (actually within the last 2 hours of the jam...)
