This is genuinely excellent, I really enjoyed reading it.

You managed to fit a ton in without any of the pages feeling crowded. The tight NPC descriptions are especially well-done.

Only suggestions:

  • Differentiate the guns more and open them up beyond fighter/rogue. In a setting that's basically guns-only, locking half the classes from using guns hurts the feel. I think you could get far by adding more guns and splitting them differently. Obviously you were space-limited here, but if you go back I'd expand that. Something like:
    • Fighter: Carbine, rifle, revolver, derringer
    • Priest: Rifle, derringer
    • Rogue: Revolver, derringer
    • Wizard: Derringer
  • The functionality of gunner badges feels weird. They represent your skill, but you just buy them? And as only fighters/rogues can use them, this puts fighters/rogues at +6 AC compared to priests/wizards for most combats here. Not sure what, but I think some refinement is needed there.
  • I found the force-field functionality a bit unclear, especially on the aliens stat-block. Not so unclear I'd have trouble running it, but I think I'd actually be just making up half the rules.

Anyways, that's my effort at constructive criticism. Excellent adventure.

Thank you for your thoughtful review!

I'll definitely release a full version without the eight-page limit and expand the content for the other classes. The gunner badge was intended as a humorous quirk of this strange world. It's not a reflection of your skill, but rather a unique aspect of the Weird West setting. I'll clarify this in the full version and add similar mechanics for the other classes.

Regarding the force fields, they're designed to interact with Arthur's pistol. If you have the pistol and magic bullets, you can destroy the force fields. I'll make this clearer in the full version.

Once again, thank you for your time and feedback. I appreciate your comments greatly!

This is a solid combination of all three inspirations. I’m a sucker for wild west themes, and including a town along with the mine makes this so much easier to bring to a table. The handwritten details across the pages, colour and black & white illustrations really add to the feel. Well done!

The handwritten details and illustrations were a lot of fun to create, and I'm glad they add to the overall feel of the adventure.

Thank you for your kind words!

The entire mood of this entry has me hooked.  The layout is resourceful and fun.  The vibe of the adventure is wild and whimsical.  It uses humor...even with poking at itself effectively, and the creativeness of the tools is inspiring!

Your enthusiasm means a lot. It's always rewarding to hear that my work has resonated with others. Thank you for your kind words!

What are the funny parts you liked the most?

More so the overall vibe...knowing what it is and leaning into it.  An old Western where Aliens crash down...often the instinct would be to explain why it terrifies the populous so much more in that setting, but I would imagine these people are hardened by life, living on little and have seen a bunch of "alien" things new to them moving out west from across the sea or even just East.  They would probably handle it like anything else...I get that vibe here.

The humor also comes from the names, and professions and again, leaning into the them.  I hope that makes sense.  Cheers!

Love the gonzo time-traveling western vibe. The layout is very creative, though there are some issues such as the way the text of the gun badge is broken up with another item description in between. Typos distract from the immersion a bit as well, but there aren't many. Love the addition of guns, but calculating different AC makes them a bit unwieldy for the GM.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the gonzo time-traveling western vibe. I'll definitely take a closer look at the gun badge and typo issues to ensure a smoother reading experience.
