Why did I wait until nighttime to play this? :O Terrifying and great! The instructions on how to hide somewhere safe could have been a bit clearer, as I thought I should be able to hide in the bins rather than just jump onto the ledge above the exit.

Love the art style, couldn't get hiding to work though :(

So, couldn't hide the gift.  That didn't work.  The monster shows up before I even have a chance to read the instructions.  I managed to figure out the third time through that I'm supposed to press X or Space, but it just didn't work.  Just running worked on the first monster.  The artwork is really good.

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah I think the general consensus is that the hiding mechanic sucks haha

Submitted(+1)

Couldn't hide, but dropping the box and running seemed to be enough to outrun the monsters :). Very good atmosphere!

Original, nice, simplistic yet tasteful style, and a bit anxiety inducing. Good stuff!

What a spectacularly spooky game!

Nice solid work. Graphics are interesting.

Thank you! Your game was genuinely one of my favourite so far :)

I've seen you guys around before. This looks extremely similar to your old game : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blackvoidmedia.Loat

Surely the concept of a Game Jam is to create a game, not recycle your old game into this.

Developer

Hi, the only re-used assets were the building sprites, which could have been recreated very quickly if it was against the rules - if you play the game you'll see it's completely different :)

Very neat graphics, normally its dark colours at the back and bright colors at the front so it was a little confusing at first

Although i struggled to hide from time to time, this game looks nice. Didn't expect it to be a horror game. The in-game sounds make it quite spooky at times.

This was a really funny one. The push made me laugh a lot! Great game.

If you could check out my submission here, that would be great! https://lilopkins.itch.io/oil-me-up

I liked the art direction on this one a lot! I saw your message about the hiding mechanic before I started playing so it didn't cause too many issues, but I imagine I'd have been pretty stumped otherwise. Still, a fun little game and a good job given the time limit.

Submitted(+1)

cool idea!! I did find a kind of exploit of continually dropping/picking the box up to walk a lot faster but with only 48 hours you did a great job!! the sound and looks are great!

Developer(+1)

Thanks very much! It's not a bug it's a feature ;)

Submitted(+1)

Nice creative approach to make a horror game with the concept of 'Giving'. It creates a good level of tension for the game play as well, with the music mixing with the character chasing you. :)

Developer(+2)

The hiding mechanic is not very well implemented due to lack of time - for anyone struggling, it needs to be triggered between objects (e.g. boxes). Otherwise you can just drop the present and run :)

Submitted(+1)

Very nice aesthetic! I think I wasn't understanding the hide mechanic well though, but I enjoyed what I was able to get through!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Yeah the hiding mechanic only works in very specific spots, I wanted to make that more obvious but ran out of time. The other option is to just drop the present and run :)

Really great aesthetics and atmospherics - just the right amount of creepy.  I think I'm probably quite bad at the game, but it was fun to play

Submitted(+1)

Cool game, atmosphere and the push animation were great. No matter how much I tried I couldn't get the hiding to work though, so I wasn't able to complete it. Overall very fun though!

Nice atmosphere!
