This is seriously a great game, not just in the context of this game jam. What a great idea, and executed extremely well. I got up to about 150 points before I worked myself into a corner :) You guys did great, please tell your daughter I truly like the music and the graphics are great too!
Probably the most innovative game of snake I've ever played. Imagine expanding something like this out into the scale of spelunky or something.
Unfortunately though it seems like there's a bug where randomly sometimes simply moving forward will kill you. I think the pacing of the movement could be better too, as it is it feels a bit unresponsive like I'm mashing the movement key waiting for it to finish every time.
Good job though. Maybe an auto move version like traditional snake could be cool. Could get weapons and either limited use or have to time it right to attack. Idk. 👍
Hey, thanks for all of that feedback. Odd that randomly moving forward kills you ... will keep an eye out for that one!
We did discuss auto move, and other power ups, also other enemies, more intricate levels, etc. and didn't get time during the jam - however, we should be able to add it to the game once the voting is all done.
I think the first thing we will do is add keys, so you have to collect a key to open the trap door to go down a level. This requires you to find two things per level which will make the game significantly more intricate.
The enemy movement made for an interesting challenge with the snake setup. Good work!
