The doggo is amazing! The sprite animation is beautiful! The rest of the art style is striking and it all works wonderfully together. I didn't hear any "woof" sounds, not sure if they are there but I missed them. The gameplay was good basic platforming.
The most impressive besides the art style was how on theme it was for the pet the doggo wild card!
And how it's a creatively different take on it too!
Great Job! :-)
Thank you! I'm glad you noticed the sprites! I'm severely lacking in any artistic ability so I often have to make the most out of the sprites I have. Trying to introduce abilities or mechanics to a character without the matching art is very limiting. And sprites with a wide range of poses are (justifiably) more expensive than I can currently afford. This simple modification gave me something to work with. :-)
I will check out making a better controller and including coyote jumping. It's not something I have done before and will require some study before hand.
I understand the cutscene being annoying :-p I just hadn't noticed how annoying since I had gotten very used to completing that section quickly. I opted for the quick scene reload as you say, this would change in a full version.
I'd be happy to try and work out how to use github if there was interest in the source. (all be it a bit of an embarrassing train wreck)
Thanks again for your kind comment! :-)
Thank you for your comment! :-)
Yea, I have an area2d which checks for if you have your sister with you then moves an invisible collision to let the player pass.
So you can use her as a key and leave her for dust as things stand :-p
I will try and muster the motivation to complete the project. Thanks again :-)
I like this game. The concept is fantastic, doggos are cute. Art is great, could have done with a little sound. The controls weren't always on point, which led to a lil frustration at times. I knew what I had to do with the "wolf Warehouse" but I gave up due to controls.
The last level had me stumped, I couldn't work it out. :-p
Good job!
Great game! I really like the art, especially the house! Sound effects are nice too.
Gameplay is fun, I was driven to complete each level, even if I didn't quite understand how to get rid of the crows. I used the wind tunnels and a lot of back n forth. I read a dive button exists, I never found that in game. (could certainly be due to my bad gaming :-p )
Great job! :-)
It's a good start! Also, do not under appreciate how much of a HUGE step you have taken to submit anything at all! I'm glad you did! We all learn by doing projects but also seeing the work of others.
This project has made me think of my avoidance of 3d projects, and how I need to step up as you have! Good job! :-)
This was an awesome game well done!
The visuals are really fantastic and feed into the atmosphere perfectly. The puzzle was intuitive to figure out. The sound complemented the visuals. It hits the theme really well, not only by inculding a family but by expressing how some relationships can feel and how that can create an evironment much like the one depicted in the game. Impressive work! :-)
Thank you for your comment :-) I will make a full version :-)
I'll look into the issue with it being too dark. Of course it's part of the theme for the early levels to be dark as this is a tragic displacement event. However I do want it to be playable. I found it to be ok for me, but I guess that could be my set up or simply my familiarity with it.
I'm certainly going to look into fixing that :-)
I think the issues were because of the higher level. Maybe the timer counting down too quickly?
Yea the "self love" animation I think you understand that one. The other was a kind of almost vibrating motion, as if doggo was having dificulty making a choice. With this issue I could very slowly still move.
As for the secret passage, I did "find" it but only because I had gotten a hint in the comments. :-)
I hope your take away from me is that it's a great game and that I really enjoyed it. Only reason I got issues really is because I played it for a while longer than maybe this build intends. :-p
I REALLY enjoyed this game! I'm a sucker for grind! I got Doggo to about 3k in each and I had 500 of each orb for a new pet but my game kinda glitched out. Doggo would kinda glitch walk and when he felt he had done a good job he would self love and I couldn't move!
These are just minor problems for a game that has beautiful art and very satisfying sound.
Great gameplay loop which I could have played for longer but no matter how tough I made doggo his glitchy actions woud be my doom.
Fantastic job! :-)
The game looks great, the sprites are fantastic. Sound is really good too. The controls were very hard for me, I'm not a good gamer so it just added to the difficulty. I did not see the end boss although I would have liked to see it's sprite and animations. :-(
I did pet the doggo though! :-)
Nice job!
The intro is fantastic and the art and music are great! I liked the controls and the way the new objects and difficulty was handled. I didn't get to finish the game though as I had issues with collision and sprites deciding to live in the walls! I guess he didn't mind it down there after all...
Great potential! Good job! :-)
I couldn't play due to window size and it was stuck at the top of my screen. No one else had this issue I noticed so that sucks and is probably an issue on my end.
If it turns out I'm not the only one and there is a fix that I'm too dumb to have figured out then I'll happily come back and play/rate :-)
I really enjoyed playing this! I loved the spin jump! I enjoy the setting and the art. The controls were responsive. Music really matched/set the pace of the game. The female character was my favourite to use. The dropper part brought back memories of sonic bonus levels :-p
I'd play a full version! Great job!
Game looks pretty. I couldn't pass the first level, which is normal for my gaming skill, but others struggled too. Difficulty is hard when game deving I know. We get so used to completing it ourselves we often forget others will be playing for the first time. I struggle with this issue too!
I don't have the available playtesters I would like to prevent myself from making this error.
On my Kindred game I changed the speed of the fire 4 times hoping to find a good dificulty!
Tough to judge when you can do it easily yourself due to familiarity!
