Game Description
The goal is to create the strongest family by creating baby slimes to boost your pet 's stats. Collect magic orbs in the world by destroying magic trees and enemies. I used the wildcards "Hidden Passage" and "Pet the Dog" . Controls: To move: WASD (or ZQSD). To interact with elements and menus while at Home: mouse click.

I have no idea of what I'm doing and I love it. The art is cute and the idea of mostly dodging while your pet takes care of enemies is novel. GG.

This was actually quite fun, I really liked the concept, reminded me of Zelda: Link's Awakening. When you have the Chain Chomp following you for a bit, except with upgradable stats! Was able to collect dozens of each colors stat.
Also the art and music we're well done too! I want a devil doggo keychain :3
Managed to find the secret passage by mistake. I accidently kicked one of the babies into it and was like... What? Where did it go? Aha!

Hey! You are right indeed, that's like in Zelda: Link's Awakening, now that you talk about it I remember. Maybe this idea came from there too ^^.
And you found the secret passage the way I was imagining the player finding it :) cool! Although I wanted to add some hints, the more you die the more the entrance would be obvious, so that you can be surprised to find all these magic orbs that you lost when you died :).
This is a really strong entry! Great art, nice background music. When I went to the cave garden for the first time, I was really surprised. The dog leash was a really nice touch. All the wiggly trees. It all worked really well together to give a very juicy feel. Good job!

I REALLY enjoyed this game! I'm a sucker for grind! I got Doggo to about 3k in each and I had 500 of each orb for a new pet but my game kinda glitched out. Doggo would kinda glitch walk and when he felt he had done a good job he would self love and I couldn't move!
These are just minor problems for a game that has beautiful art and very satisfying sound.
Great gameplay loop which I could have played for longer but no matter how tough I made doggo his glitchy actions woud be my doom.

I would be interested in knowing more about the glitches you are talking about.
What I know for sure is that what you describe as self love is normal haha. The pet, when he has at least one baby around him, and after some time without you having reachable target around you (more specifically at the exact time the timer for the attack cooldown ticks), the pet will express its happiness for being outside with its kind friends / family.
And yeah the animation is making you unable to move at this time, I think I'll remove that anyway, at least I'll make it cancelable. It's the same kind of animation you have at home with the pet, where you cannot do anything more at the same time.
Sometimes, against the gunners and their blue repel shields, the pet can seem to behave strangely. That could be because you are too far away from him, split away by the enemy shield. FYI the pet, the player character, and the babies are using the physics engine to interact with each others. With the leash on top of that it's really difficult to avoid strange behaviors! :)
I'll try to fix them, if you could give me more details about your weird experiences haha ;)

I think the issues were because of the higher level. Maybe the timer counting down too quickly?
Yea the "self love" animation I think you understand that one. The other was a kind of almost vibrating motion, as if doggo was having dificulty making a choice. With this issue I could very slowly still move.
As for the secret passage, I did "find" it but only because I had gotten a hint in the comments. :-)
I hope your take away from me is that it's a great game and that I really enjoyed it. Only reason I got issues really is because I played it for a while longer than maybe this build intends. :-p
Haha exactly, you went far beyond what I tested myself!
I see indeed the issue, because you were too high level, the attack timer is 0.1 minimum, but that's still very fast, so I can imagine your pet not wanting to do anything in the middle of the field. Also, because your range was really big (I guess the whole level) your pet can attack anywhere there, I should try to see how it goes in this case. Technically, the target is chosen by checking your range area, taking the first enemy in it, if there is no enemy then it chooses a breakable environment object (a tree).

Really cute game! But the fact that you need to add the babies into your pet is weird, I want the babies to grow up so I can abandon my old pet and get a new one (I'm joking lol)

In fact for the babies growing up, I was trying to find how to make them evolve. They are babies, they are supposed to grow. For now they boost your pet (only 3 of them though) and most of them are just jumping around your home.
First, I want to add an option to merge two slimes together to upgrade their stats, so that the oldest ones are not irrelevant. This would cost some resources. And I think there should be a limit on the number of babies you can have at home at the same time.
Second, I wanted to make them grow at some point but was not sure how. Maybe after they reach a threshold of stats or if you find or create a home in a deeper level. One of the babies could grow up and be the parent, you could also choose a new pet ;).

I could not stop playing this game! Such cute animations and movements. I really appreciated the nice little touches that made you feel more connected to your slimes like how you can hug your pet when you're at home (and all the little hearts come up... <3 ...so nice!) . I liked the unique concept and the leashed pet fighting mechanic too! Loved it.

The game is lovely. I like the idea of pets. The hand art of the characters is awesome, but I wish that the art applies on all the environment, that would make the game much better looking.The animation and the sounds are good too.
The game play is good, even that it getting too repetitive or too crazy.
I have 2 questions: How much time it needs for the babies to grow up? and I found the secret passage, but I don't know what to do there?

For the art applying to everything, I agree, I didn't have time at all to remake a tileset, but I'll try to do it :).
As Waden already answered the babies don't grow up. I was thinking of a mechanic for that but that would make for a much bigger game! Maybe you could find new homes in the world and choose which baby would grow up and be the parent, and which step you want to have :).
SPOILER:
The secret passage is in fact used to get back all of the magic orbs you lose when you die, as you lose half of them everytime :). With this, the fact that the levels / enemies are too powerful is less relevant and you can just try to survive as long as possible to let them destroy everything by themselves and loot haha. That's a bit of a gameplay shortcut, I don't know if it should stay as is for later?

Pretty good overall, i like the hand drawn artstyle, it's really charming and i like the "dog" 's design XD
i also like the fact that you can combine any amount of magic orb to generate a seemingly infinite combination of slimes and with a name too !
Tiny issues though, the turret enemies, they seem to have a real OP range and blast radius to their attack, but one thing i do like about them is that their attack also affect the environement, that's a nice touch.
Other than that it's a neat little game, congrats :)

The turrets are indeed OP haha. You could see them as the bosses of the game as it is now ^^. Even with upgrading your pet with baby slimes you can still get destroyed by the bullets' explosions pretty easily. There is some balancing to do here!

Yes indeed you can have additional characters, they boost your pet :). You can have up to 3 babies in your team following you and the pet, but an infinite amount of babies that live in the house ^^.

I loved the art style in this game. It felt personal and really light hearted, which I felt like matched the theme well. Also, the slime names were so fun heh.
When I reached the 3rd room, I couldn't figure out what killed me. Bullets? And then I had a large red earshot indicator, but I'm not sure where it came from.

The third room is where the infamous "gunner", or "cannon" enemies start to appear. They will shoot you from very far away. And the explosion is the deadliest attack. I should make the shots much slower so that the player can see them coming more easily! :)
Their "weakness" is that they cannot move. But they have a close range pulse shield that keeps anyone far from it, so you cannot attack them when their shield is active.
Maybe try to upgrade your pet more using the loots from the previous rooms. Increasing the range (from you) at which the pet can attack can help you a lot. Also you can increase its attack speed and its damage. :)
Really liked this one! The art is great and I love that you put in an "upgrade" system through creating baby slimes. Those turrets are really hard to kill...got a couple of them but died pretty easily each time. Very cute animation when interacting with the pet.

Indeed, maybe I designed these gunner enemies to be a little bit too difficult haha. The shots should be much slower so that the player can avoid them more easily at least I think, because the explosions are the most damaging attacks.
I didn't have time to create the boss I wanted to implement as an "end" to the game, so they are a bit used as a final test, mostly the final level called "Cave Hell" :). That's almost impossible to survive more than 30sec I think haha. The thing is that you can let the enemies kill each others and the trees, and loot everything (the last level has a bonus of x10 on the drops), just before dying.
And, SPOILER, there is a hidden room that allows you to get back all your lost resources (the half you lose when you die).
If you boost your pet enough, they should be easier and easier, but still deadly, maybe too much. So if I continue developing this game further I will tune them down.

The cannons are difficult indeed. They shoot you at a long range, the bullet deals little damage when touching you, pushes you around, and then explodes to deal a lot of damage. So you don't want to be in their area when they explode (when they are close enough to their destination or after living for some time if they are pushed away of their original path). So you have to move around a lot and try to find a path of safety, maybe try to stay away from most of them, because the more there are the more dangerous they are.
The force field is only active for a moment, you have to find the good timing to approach them and put them in your visibility area (the green area around you) when your pet can attack.
As I didn't have time to create a real boss, they are made to be the most dangerous enemies.
The further you go in the levels the more magic orbs you get as rewards (also you can see the cannons are in fact destroying the enemies and trees for you haha, if you can just survive you could try to loot all the orbs (*10 bonus in the last stage).
SPOILER:
The more you boost your pet with baby slimes, the easier it will get.
And if you die, you lose half of the magic orbs you had on you, but there may be a hidden room where you could get back what you lost...! ;)

Cute game! I like the blobby animations! I had a little difficulty figuring out how to get my pet to attack, but once I did, I had a lot of fun building up a family to ride around on him!
