I really enjoyed this! I agree with the other comments about more varied effects that aren't necessarily debuffs - the jump modifier being a great example. I'd gladly play a full version of this!

Was a bit lost before I read the instructions: I reflexively assumed the goal was not to get squished and blindly shoot, but I was pleasantly surprised by the premise! Presentation was excellent with great sound design and feedback!

Top marks for presentation! I love how the limitation has also been presented in the theme

Great concept with a superb aesthetic! Really enjoyed this submission!

Excellent presentation! I agree with the comments below; the speed of the enemy dice is a bit of a pace killer. I like the concept, but I did get quite a few unlucky rolls at the start of the game which ended most of my attempts before they really got started. That being said, I think with a bit of balancing it could be a really fun time!

A neat concept, though I don't think the graphics gelled well with the gameplay. I found it a bit too difficult to read the dice with the pixel art - maybe colour coding the sides would help? I also found keeping track of the dice sides in my head to be surprisingly difficult

Top tier dad pun logic on display! Loved the presentation - though I agree a little more feedback when you take damage would go a long way

Very intuitive with clean and cohesive visuals. Good difficulty curve too!

Every aspect of this gelled really well together! The presentation is excellent and the highlighting of key information was a nice touch. It had a very nice difficult curve to it. While I liked the speed progression from a difficulty perspective, I personally found the background on the last stage made me feel a bit motion sick as a result. This could easily be an interactive PSA about the dangers of texting and driving!

Brilliant submission!

This game has a great atmosphere! The presentation is simple yet effective. I thought the walking speed was borderline too slow, but the immersive sound and the length of the game made it work for me. There were a few oddities with the controls (still moving diagonally when releasing a side arrow but holding a vertical one) which made the dark section a bit too disorientating.

Overall I really enjoyed this - Great work!

The quit button was brilliant... Didn't think I'd be typing that today, but here I am. I did find it a little fiddley to hit the pumpkins with the spray, but it was still a solid submission!

I think this might be the best entry I've seen in a game jam, period! The juxtaposition between happy pumpkin learning to walk in the tutorial and the ever increasing  volume of a blood-thirsty crowd is such a perfect introduction! The consistent use of colour for the attacks is a great touch. At first I thought it was too difficult, but the amount of satisfaction from surviving even a single attack is palpable (though maybe a slightly longer cooldown post hit would be nice). My only nit-pick is that you can't pick the hammer back up if you toss it into the wall out of sheer panic like I did many a time. I didn't manage to beat it, but I've never had so much fun getting my backside handed to me. I will be back for another attempt!

I wasn't expecting that funky music but I loved it! The inverted parallax scrolling of the background felt other-worldly... but also made me quite motion sick. The presentation was all round excellent. Great submission!

The presentation really sells this - the short animations are great! I appreciate the attention to detail, with each action leading to an outcome-appropriate myth

The amount of times I got to the top and died to the last apple by instinctively walking straight into it... I'm always a fan of a game that takes universally pre-established game rules (apples = good) and twists them like that. Good game, but I found the jump to be a little to high for the confined space. A solid entry!

I like the bouncing pumpkin effect when you get hit. A nice intuitive game!

I didn't have much success playing this I'm afraid - every time I pressed E the game froze. I agree that a button to skip the cutscene would've been nice as I had to re-watch it every time I restarted

That was extremely cathartic. I had enough money to appease the pumpkin king without buying the last patch, but I wanted the joy of harvesting a full screen of purple pumpkins, so I bought it anyway! This game is a drug - brilliant submission.

The myth was a fantastic choice, the reasoning for failure is hilarious! Simple to control and fun.

Simple and fun! The presentation was great - the lighting effects really helped items pop whilst making it feel like a dungeon. FYI - There is a bug with the doors as I had negative keys on more than one playthrough. Great submission!

This was great fun and really well polished! The movement was satisfying and the effects/ sound design really enhanced the experience. Cracking job!

Had a good time with this -it's a solid game all round. A manual reload button would've be useful when there's a brief calm period.

Excellent presentation! I agree that some sound effects would have gone a long way.

I'm a big fan of the attack mechanic - it was deceptively versatile for a one-button attack. My main criticism is the enemies being able to spawn right next to the player without warning felt a bit unfair, which when combined with the one hit death was the cause of most of my game overs. Nice and crisp visuals and overall satisfying to play - good job!

This had a very unique feel to it - a bit like the cars were toys being shaken about in a box! Some of  the text went a bit fuzzy in full screen mode; using Unity's text objects (such as Text Mesh Pro) will keep the text legible. This is a solid first entry, well done!

Haha I didn't think of it like that - I can see what you mean! That was supposed to be the "break" theme, but after I submitted I noticed the coffee cup in the jam icon and realised I may have interpreted break slightly differently than intended...

Good entry! I recommend exporting as a WebGL project in future so the game can be played in the browser. This will likely boost the number of ratings your jam games receive (I usually have to mark the "Decompression Fallback" checkbox to get it to work - there is a screenshot of that in the unity docs - https://docs.unity.cn/cn/2020.1/Manual/webgl-deploying.html)

That was quite a unique submission! I liked the overall relaxing vibe this game had, I think that's quite a different and clever approach to the limitation. I though having a difficulty option was a good idea for adding more variety on paper, but I did feel the 5 guess cap conflicted with the chill vibe a little. Still a fun submission though!

Had a good time with this! I feel a crouch button would add a bit of variety for dodging, but it was still a solid experience!

A got a few good laughs from this. Good job!

This was a great entry! A simple concept executed well, with a clean  coherent art style. My only criticism was that most of the friendly supplies I shot down were due to them spawning into my auto-fire with no real way to avoid it. Other than that it was a great experience - short and sweet!

This was an interesting twist on the limitation! Great presentation too!

Brilliant game and an excellent use of the limitation! I did get confused at why the knight died after hitting a rock, but that's a pretty minor issue. This was smashing!

This was very well constructed all round. Powerups had a very nice punch to them! My only nit-pick would be that a longer music loop would've been nice. Great submission!

(1 edit)

I thought this was fantastic, and with a bit of polish could be an excellent game! The presentation and concept are brilliant, but once I'd worked out what I was meant to do I did struggle to execute the solutions. I found the menu being a platform and punishment depending on which button was pressed to be really engaging (though I must admit I found the exit button became frustrating fast). Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed the small part of the game I was skilled enough to complete!

I think this is a solid base for expansion post-jam. The presentation and sound design was great!

I liked the clean art style! FYI on my monitor the transition effect didn't cover the whole screen and remained partially visible the whole time

Very aesthetically pleasing!

Top tier presentation - wonderfully atmospheric! The pacifism limitation really complements the sense of vulnerability

An interesting concept! Short and sweet.
