Yes, the organizers confirmed that joining the jam through itch.io is sufficient, if I recall!

You can join at anytime during the jam, so it's ok! Happy jamming!

Thank you very much for the explanation!

Hello!

I saw that the recently updated submission requirements lists engine project files in addition to the executables. I understand that it is likely to verify that the participant has done their own work, but I am a little concerned about having that file available to download publicly because I have heard of instances where people can take advantage of this without our consent. After the game jam is completely over, I was wondering if we  are allowed to monetize our game.

I may be over-worrying, but any additional info to help clarify the reasoning would be greatly appreciated!

thanks for playing! Definitely looking into balancing the lightning and whirlpool with cooldown and maybe adding more waves of enemies!

Thank you! :D

The color palette was very eye candy!

I really liked the story and cutscenes before the game! Also the music was very adventurous and hopeful

I enjoyed playing! I liked the sound fx  and the fact that the dragon eggs were already placed in zones so you could just focus on choosing the dragon type

I enjoyed the narrative premise of the game!

The dragon looks so cute when it opens its mouth to eat the pearls! I wonder what the backstory behind the dragon and the whale is

The music was very catchy and the sound fx were nice and crunchy. I loved the concept of stocks

Like someone else mentioned, I also enjoyed the carnival vibe, it made me nostalgic and want to go to a fair again! Maybe you could add a limited number of bullets if you make different levels/rounds and dragons of different point value!

I enjoyed the art style for this, and I definitely woke up the dragon too many times while playing haha

I enjoyed the art style and the music was pretty soothing. I haven't played a pinball game in a long time so this was fun!

I got to 172 as my high score! I never quite got to the replica mechanic when playing because I was having fun with just gambling for coins and giving it to the dragon as quickly as possible, but on my next play I think I'll try it out too.

One thing I noticed was that the two doors next together  in that lower level are placed very close to each other, making it a little harder at times to enter the right door I wanted to go to especially when I was rushing. A small gap between the doors might make navigation a little easier. This was fun!

Thanks for the tips! For the next update I've been thinking of something like a cool down too (hadn't had time to figure that out yet). I'll definitely add some sound effects and some animations

Thanks for playing! In the future I'm looking to challenge myself to make a longer game!

The writing was beautiful and felt very authentic  to the layers of emotions between a strained familial bond. I think I was particularly affected by the characters expressing some degree of resentment in between the times that they were supposed to care and support each other.

Being the bearer of a curse because you love someone and yet still feeling abandoned despite the sacrifices you've made so that the other can live a more comfortable life (at the risk of estranging the close bond you once shared) is so saddening, but it's valid for both sides to feel frustrated and upset. In that sense, I think Maya resonates a lot with me.

The watercolor-esque visuals were eye candy and the soundtrack was also a dream!

Thanks for playing Carrot! And I am really glad you enjoyed the scenery, a colorful headspace is something I aimed to deliver! It makes me really happy to know that something I made was able to resonate with you!

Thanks for taking the time to play it! Your live reactions to it too were also super encouraging!

I enjoyed the tone of this! and the ending CG/text was abrupt and added to the humor! :D

I really liked the mask design!

Thank you so much for the hint!

On the rule about how an illustration cannot feature a silhouette of another person right next to a fully shown character, does that mean an illustration of someone holding hands with someone offscreen (just showing the arm) is not allowed?

The need to rehearse a drink order is painfully too familiar and relatable. I loved the pause before the barista said 25 pumps of caramel sauce.

Thank you for the clarification! Looking forward to it!

I was part of a jam that originally started much earlier, but due to some people leaving, we all kind of waited until more people showed up. During that time I didn't work on anything because I was still trying to come up with brainstorming ideas for a comic. I was able to brainstorm something  that I realized would fit better as a VN, and was wondering if it was ok to submit it to this jam and the other one, if it's allowed in both jams.

Hey! I think you can first create a project page from your dashboard, then if you go back to this jam's page, next to the deadline countdown, there should be a link to click once the submission period opens. Then, it will show a pop-up where you can select which project you want to use as a submission for this jam! That's the broad picture, let me know if you need any help!

It's awesome that this jam is getting attention from you guys! I recognized PlusMusic because it's one of the partners for the metroidvania jam.

I totally agree with you about feeling like a winner! I submitted my very first 12 word RPG just now and feel satisfied that the ball is rolling. Also just wanted to say hi! I just realized I recognize your name from the buddy up jam discord

Hopefully this link works!

Little Red Riding Hood piqued my interest, I've never read a version like that before, so that definitely gets my vote.

Edit: My next vote is for Beauty and the Beast and Hansel and Gretel

Does this mean if you make cards for the game that depict things such as a frog, lemon, and wheelbarrow, those don't count towards the 12 word limit if it does not contain words on them? Or are the three hypothetical examples interpreted as picture symbols such that they each count as 1? I might be overthinking this, I was reading the rules over again but wanted to ask just to be sure

1) I'm cool with doing something with horror aspects, though if there is anyone who didn't feel comfortable, any non-horror is fine by me!

2) I am working alone for this jam, as my current situation makes my available time rather sporadic (though I hope sometime in the future I'll get a chance to collaborate with people, it's always fun to work in a team)

All of these are new to me but they all sounded very interesting.  I just read Chase of the severed head  and liked how the children get revenge/justice, especially with the aid of animals

I also like horror and queer stories, though I haven’t read dracula, does it have queer subtext?

I agree with Jennifer, I think the retelling option will still allow us to swim in a lot of creative freedom without losing sight of scope, but I am also open to a new story. Either way, it sounds like fun!
