Haha, sounds like you’ve suffered enough... or maybe not quite enough? The Wheel shows no mercy!
But seriously, thanks for the kind words! :) We’ll definitely take a look at the difficulty balance. Glad you liked the art and sound!
Hehee, much thanks! <3
It’s PitchMonster by Devious Machines, some chorus, double tracking, granular processing, and pitch shifting down a few semitones. One of my favorite tools in my arsenal - I use it a lot on BG vocals when mixing.
Digging the music too :)
The narrative kinda just came out of nowhere - straight from the depths of my mind, in an attempt to explain the gameplay somehow! :D
Another masterpiece with a nostalgic retro feel that took me back to my NES childhood era. It’s a bittersweet feeling - melancholic, yet comforting. Great use of the spin theme, and I love the variety of bosses. Music and SFX are on point, and the balance is just right - winning with your last HP makes it even more satisfying.
The cocktail recipes could stay on screen a bit longer to fully enjoy the intro sequence. Margarita, though completely destroyed me :D
Spin responsibly!
Such amazing art, Jane! Awesome characters and comic-style presentation. I’d love to see a full game like this!
The Minotaur was tough to beat, he always got me when my slot spun or right after I fired a rocket. Maybe reducing his health, increasing hero damage, or adding a longer stun effect after the ultimate could help balance it out.
The sounds felt a bit repetitive and loud. If you plan to develop the game further, I’d be happy to help refine the SFX and overall sound design! Thanks for such an impressive setting, and please keep it up.
Such an awesome sounds and music! And such hard controls, and difficulty felt really Souls-like. Good variety of levels though, cool they are so different.
Reminded me of Santa Claus In Trouble when I endlessly kept falling off the ground, lol. and some old-school bike game from the early 2000s. which name I forgot. Would be great to play an easy mode, with more guns and homing missiles, hah. Good job and thanks for the nostalgic vibes :)
Wow, that means a LOT, thank you! ^^ Really glad you got immersed in the Wheel. We actually handpicked the voice actors from many candidates to get the perfect fit, so it’s awesome to hear the impact it had. An easy mode is definitely something we could consider in the future. Appreciate your support and the high rating!
Hey Bryan Blaze, we meet again! :) Hello other team!
Such a good game - great visuals and animation! After dying three times, I finally beat all the bosses and finished the game.
After the first boss, the others felt much easier. The melee claws were the best way to attack them! Blaze fire felt long but not very effective. Overload and gears were useful, though.
The one-hand controls felt a bit weird at first, but I got used to them quickly. The music was super memorable (still stuck in my head!) but was a bit loud by default and had a lot of low mids for my taste, so I wished for more SFX impact. Loving that organ and harpsichord style synth - what did you use for them Holden?
Overall, a great submission - awesome job, guys!
Really appreciate that! We wanted it to feel like a full experience, so it’s awesome to hear that came across. Totally get what you mean about the spikes - they can be hard to spot when focusing on parries, so we’ll look into improving that. The upgrade pacing is something we’ll be discussing tweaking as well, so your feedback helps a lot! And yeah, a controller would definitely make movement feel a bit smoother. We’re excited to expand the game, so suggestions like this are super valuable, thanks again!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the kind words. We’ve thought about expanding it, and hearing this kind of feedback makes it even more tempting! Totally get what you mean about restarting - definitely something to tweak in a future version. Any ideas for improving the content? Cuz now it's too short for Steam
Hi Dekura! Really cool designs - loving the style. The fonts fit perfectly, giving it a modern cyber vibe with a touch of retro futurism. Nice use of the theme, but unfortunately, the boss is unbeatable - I died about 20 times before giving up.
The music direction is spot on, and some SFX work well, though others could use some refinement - just as you mentioned, it’s still in beta. I crossed the line and cranked the volume all the way up but still felt like it could be louder :) If you plan to develop this further and need any help with sound design, feel free to hit me up! ^^
Really liked the animations and visual style - so nostalgic. The music and SFX are great, and the bosses are fun and interesting. The only downside for me was the controls; they added to the difficulty. One of the best submissions here, thanks! Keep it up, make some levels with regular enemies, and you will have an excellent platformer.
Awesome visuals! Nice use of the spin theme. It's unreal to stand vs the boss on a floor, much easier on the ceiling :)
It's really hard to evade from these fists. The difficulty makes you want to play more, but after 3rd attempt I gave up. Some important sfx are missing, it would be easier if a player could hear what's going on (some incoming boss attacks). Really loving the graphics and animation. The gravity mechanics and controls are good too :)
My favorite genre with a cardboard design inspired by old-school cartoons and casino :)
Such a great combo! At first I died 3 times, but later avenged to all of them. Thank you guys, that was really fun and cool. I'd love to play more, a campaign with a story, and regular enemies.
Loving the jazz/swing with some metal guitar riffs, fits surprisingly well. Would be nice to have some voice over for bosses. Also, I really liked some of your "hand-made" SFX :) but they were quiet. Gun sounds could have more attention too.
In the info status in says Prototype, and it's a good one, so please keep up the good work.
Great intro synthwave theme, really sets the mood!
UI sounds and other SFX are missing, adding those would make a big difference.
Classic top-down helicopter shooter, feels nostalgic.
Cora is cute.
Loving the 90s anime vibes, the art style is great.
The second boss seems indestructible. Spent all my health and shields, but Cora cried anyway :)
Fun game, just needs some sound design and balance tweaks.
The Shark gets me every time! Super fun game, and a great use of the jam’s theme. The controls feel quite challenging, though - maybe a bit of tweaking could make movement smoother?
Nice touch with the "Stonks" and "Shut up and take my money" memes! They really added to the humor.
Loving the guitar riffs! They give me good old-school metalcore/death metal vibes, which is awesome. However, they were a bit too quiet and could use better mixing to really punch through. If you ever want help with that, I’d be happy to assist!
Overall, a super entertaining entry. Well done!
Awesome music and visuals!! The animations are really cute. This reminds me of good old forgotten cartoons. I wish I could stay a little longer, but the boss beats me every time :) A little unclear why I should match the coins with the circle, but really nice use of the theme. Sad that some of important SFX are missing (but I can help you with that if you decide to develop this awesome creation further).
At first the controls seemed a bit awkward, and a tutorial a bit confusing. But the atmosphere and graphics are amazing! Thanks for such an incredible time machine. Defeated the first boss on the second attempt. The cave background loop and the paper menu click are stuck in my head :)
The boss, characters, environment and every detail looks super cool! Really loving the style. One of the best submissions on the jam for sure. Please keep up the good work, keep improving and developing the game further. It would be nice to understand the mechanics and the order of moves a little more. Would love to see more detailed character abilities and different locations with lesser monsters. And I would be really honored to help you with sound design if you want ^^
