Loved the storytelling at the start of the game and the end of the fight,
and the way pangolins walked up to gear up :D
I really liked the little details that were thought through in the main gameplay.
Hint: I know nothing ;)
Well done!
Great atmosphere in the game!
I faced a problem while Moving Up and using Ctrl to Scale Down—the game would unexpectedly close. This happened because Ctrl+W is a shortcut for closing the current window.
Luckily, it happened during the tutorial, so I learned to avoid this key combination in further gameplay.
Well done on the scaling mechanics-related gameplay!
I'm glad you liked the concept! I totally get your point about the game being too short; unfortunately, I had to make some compromises due to time constraints.
As for the wonky movement near objects, it seems there's an issue with the camera as it gets too close to colliders. My bad for not catching that during playtesting.
Rest assured, I'll be refining the overall movement for a smoother experience in the next release.
Thanks a bunch for giving it a try!
The game's concept is outstanding, smoothly aligning with the 'Scale' theme of the game jam. I was impressed by how effectively it captures the dystopian ambiance.
In my opinion, a couple of suggestions could enhance the player experience, such as incorporating the tutorial from the readme file into the initial interaction to help players quickly understand the controls.
Furthermore, displaying drug descriptions upon hovering the mouse over them would enhance the user experience. This approach allows players to easily grasp the effects of each drug without having to navigate through the computer for information, thereby maintaining the fast-paced nature of this game.
Overall, it's an excellent game with impressive work on the voiceover, visuals, and audio!
The original submission for Game-Off 2023 will remain accessible until the conclusion of the Game Jam.
If you wish to try the improved version of the game, you can explore the following builds.
Post-Submission Builds:
Hotfix 1:
Thank you in advance for playing and providing feedback!
I thoroughly enjoyed the immersive atmosphere crafted through the combination of visuals and audio.
Additionally, the Enemy AI stood out with its impressive pursuit dynamics, and the interesting shift in behavior when they became the ones being pursued
One minor hiccup I encountered during my initial playthrough was that, while going further upward due to the absence of small fish nearby, I found myself reaching a point where the non-rendered side of rocks became visible. If you pass through that area, you may eventually get stuck in the rocks. In such a case, a game restart is necessary.
Overall, I was highly impressed with the game experience!
Excellent job!
Thank you so much for your feedback!
I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the interaction with the objects and found the UI clear and user-friendly.
I'm currently working on expanding and enhancing these basics to offer a more immersive and engaging experience.
If you have any specific suggestions or features you'd like to see in the expanded version, feel free to share them. Your input is valuable as I continue to develop and improve.
Thanks again for your encouraging words!
Nice concept of giving importance to colors!
I feel the art style could be more cohesive; the NPCs were detailed compared to the hand-drawn style of the player and the background!
Also, I got stuck here :/
I tried pressing every key to get out or close that window, but it didn't work.
But overall, I really like the concept of the game :)
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! I'm glad you found the concept interesting and enjoyed the gameplay and audio.
Regarding the movement, unfortunately, due to time constraints, I wasn't able to polish many small details as much as I would have liked. As for the crafting station, I believe the issue may be related to the pause menu mouse lock. I will definitely look into that.
Thanks again for playing and providing such constructive feedback!
That's great to hear that you are planning to add more levels!
Regarding the SteamVR problem, I have SteamVR installed on my system, which might help to better understand the issue.
I think it's possible that it activated when the game requested the HMD, as similar occurrences have happened to me in various VR games as well.
It's great to hear that you're aware of the issue, I can understand the challenges that can come with game development.
Despite the hiccup, I genuinely enjoyed playing and I'm sure others will too.
Looking forward to future updates and improvements. Keep up the good work! :)
By the way, one more thing—I noticed it launches Steam VR in the background always when I ran the game.
Are you planning to make it for VR too?
I guess it would be a great game for VR as well!
I had a great time playing the game and really loved the retro vibes. The levels were both challenging and enjoyable!
However, I encountered a minor issue in the initial demo area where I got stuck multiple times due to the yellow cube being trapped. The room got locked when I picked it up from other room, making it impossible for me to retrieve the cube and forcing me to restart the game.
This issue:
The view of the final level (3) featuring a pier and a lighthouse was quite impressive.
Certainly worth playing!
I enjoyed the game's immersive atmosphere and the unique use of dragon scales for leverage in jumps. The visuals and music added to the overall experience.
However, the respawn time seemed a bit too long; the first time I respawned, I initially thought the game was over because of the extended respawn time, but then it respawned. Additionally, I suggest adding replay and skip options to the tutorial for user convenience.
Overall, a very solid platformer. Amazing work!😃
I thoroughly enjoyed the game's sketch-like art style and the innovative concept of scaling objects for movement.
While engaging with the cube in the cube area, I observed that pressing 'E' triggered a pick-up reaction from the cube, but its movement was limited. To address this, I resorted to using the right mouse button to scale it down while interacting, enabling me to drag it near the pressure plate.
However, I hit a roadblock towards the end since the cube won't won't move further then :/
I'm unsure if I missed a crucial element. Perhaps incorporating hints on how to maneuver the cube in that particular area would enhance the experience.
Despite this obstacle, I find the game's concept truly fantastic!😄
I liked your theme interpretation of scaling cloud services in the game :)
The concept of initially lowering prices to attract more users and then adjusting them based on demand for increased earnings was particularly engaging.
However, I encountered some confusion when my projects weren't accessible, despite my ops count being in alignment. It turned out that I had overlooked the 'Available count' in the business area, mistakenly focusing on the 'Total base ops' count.
Aside from that, I appreciate the attention to small details, such as paying electricity bills and receiving extra money from family at certain points – it adds a fun touch, especially when you need it. Overall, it's a well-crafted clicker game. Excellent job! :D
Thank you so much Bastion for trying out our game!
Means a lot to us, really loved the genuine feedback that you gave during the video.
Also for the getting stuck part,
it was issue related to our techniques to prevent players from going out of bounds in our game as you could understand xD
Thanks & Regards
Thank you for checking out our game! :)
Apologies for the bad gameplay experience, due to which you had to quit our game.
Note: The Camera issue was in the initial build, and I believe we can make small fixes to our build if it really makes a huge difference in terms of overall game and that's we released a new build with fixed camera.
Post Submission Changes:
1. Changed the settings of Cinemachine Camera, to fix the camera issue that everyone was facing.
2. Changed the light settings to fix the light seeping through mesh bug.
These are the only changes that we made, as they were kind of small (only some values were changed) and were affecting the gameplay experience by large.
Thank you everyone for playing our game and giving us your valuable feedback!
