Cool game, it feels really smooth for a bullet hell / shoot 'm up type of game. The physics distortion fields feel a little useless though, I get higher scores without using the fields. User experience wise, it would be a cool feature to end the fields when exiting the screen (web GL - so I right clicked outside the screen a lot). Would be cool to have a little more gameplay, fun proof of concept though.
Great work for your first game - here's some feedback:
- make sure to make a screen (or itch comment) that has the controls
- visual feedback to player input is really important (visual effects / screen overlay)
- leave the last day(s) of the jam to polish, this way you will have enough time to implement everything (the restart button!!)
Good job though!
Cool concept, but the UX can be improved upon a lot - the level design makes it so that the player goes off of the map immediately (for almost 20 tries for me) - and after finally getting past the first few jumps, I got stuck in a hole. You could write this off as a skill issue on my part -which it was- but an important part of making games is level design - and teaching your players the mechanics of the game in an easy environment at first - only then you can make it more complicated. This could be a lot of fun though!
Hey, thanks for playing! You missed 2 more levels, both including the cannons. It requires a bit of precision, but usually you just fire the cannon and jump on, and tap W to stay on, and then jump off. The character controller with the sliding is a part of the physics design, but this could be tweaked! Thank you for the feedback my friend.
