The atmosphere and audio were on point in this one. The monsters definitely freaked me out. The ending was kind of abrupt for me though- at least I think it was the ending? Still super fun to play through!

Spooky!

For some reason first time I've picked up lattern - light area was really awfully small. Like 1 tile only (I saw only wall I was hugging). It was fine later on, when I light up another candle in it. Maybe shouldn't be such huge difference right from the get-go. I got terribly disoriented in that room because of it.

Cool, unsetling environments that felt somehow 'fleshy' not 'earthly' with the shapes and forms. Maybe played too much crawlers lately and got used to everything being square and simple.

Sounds give out a lot of creeps too. Especially those smiles oof!

Great entry overall.

Mom! I'm scared of the dark!

Got lost so many times. When I thought I found a new place, I was actually coming back to the starting point.

This a great and spooky game. Walking around in the big dark cave with just limited light was very creepy and frightening. And then there are the monsters lurking in the shadows... Its a great horror atmosphere! Graphics and sound are well done. Gameplay is not overly complex and focuses on the important parts which is cool. Overall I enjoyed getting lost in the caves, even if there is no happy ending but just more monsters waiting at you at the very end, haha.

Great game!

Hey man, I played your game "Rekindled" :)

By the way, thanks a lot for reviewing mine as well on your twitch, loved that you re played like 3 times and did a full history trip on my ancient site and game engine :) Loved every moment out of it!

  • great music and pixel-art style right from the title screen, it scared me :)
  • very good dungeon movement and transition
  • the torch lighting shadow on wall seemed weird and totally concrete.. but that's me nitpicking :)
  • I loved that everything darkened when I took the lantern.. That wicked music helped as well here :)
  • my first attempt on the big map led to a consumed lantern :(
  • great concept that you use the lantern to continue on this pitch black dungeon.
  • nice that these traps give you like a second to make a quick decision..
  • although I found 3 of them traps in my way, killed me in no time, 10/10 :)
  • found another save point and these awful faces killed me again, 10/10 :)

Overall, very very spooky but fun dungeon crawler.. Definitely need writing down maps :)

Great job!

Love me a good spook! Great job with making me feel powerless in the dark ;)

Those stupid faces will haunt my night mares so thanks for that :P

It was very simple but I enjoyed it none the less. Great work!

It's always fun to see a horror-themed dungeon crawler! I burned a few matches by misclicking, but still made it through with a few to spare, so I appreciated how lenient you were with the overall count. I felt like it could have used a couple more of the patrol type enemies, but that's just how jams go. Good job!

It`s a little hard to navigate, but the game is scary with good sound
It was nice to play!

Nice seeing something without traditional combat. Pretty neat entry. Would be a lot less confusing if the lantern increased your vision radius from 1 to 3 or 5 tiles away instead of from 0 to 1.

Really great atmosphere! Loved how snappy the turns were and how the ambience built through the game. The sfx and music are  really great, nice work! I did get confused with the first room of enemies, i couldn't read the signs before i got got but once i figured it out it was a lot of fun

This was a pleasant experience!
Exploring the fear of darkness was an original and brillant idea. Though the deadend spike was sly haha!

But overall, it was a nice experience. The ending was brutal and If I hadn't still three lives, I would have thought I failed but it was a nice game with good work and decent graphics

Thank you for this pleasant moment!

This was fun, I was not entirely sure I reached the end before reading the comments below, but no problem, it's a legit ending.

The game is very atmospheric and quite fun, it looks, sounds and moves great.

Cool game, the limited matches aspect made me feel under pressure.

This game was very atmospheric.

And very red.

The match counter thing was a good way to increase tension.

Who in the world would actually make a dead end with nothing but spike traps in it?

Then again, who wouldn't?

BRB, gotta go get me some spike traps...

This was actually quite good for a little creepy horror entry! I -think- I made it to the end, where the chasm full of scary things is. But I was also on my last life, so I can be sure.

Atmosphere was spot on, graphics was nice, the faces were creepy!

Thank you! Yeah you reached the end, I ran out of time to finish the finale and make it feel more conclusive. Glad you enjoyed though!

Cool design and Art style! Game-play was confusing however.

Ah, totally fair. I tried to be less direct with the way I taught controls and mechanics, but I missed some additions to teach how to use the lantern properly. Glad you enjoyed the look though!
