First time playing I was like "how were these keys chosen? is this for difficulty?" Then I realized what was up. Luckily I've got a Croatian keyboard layout installed on my computer I was able to switch to and then it was smooth sailing :)

That's a really nice family they've got. Even the cat is getting in on the pets. I liked that the hand icon changed to a paw for the kitten. :)

Yoooo I love the music. What did you use for this? It's got that old school Sega Genesis chunky synth vibe.

Pacing felt good on the game, I feel very ninja like blazing through the levels and jumping so high. I did get in trouble a little on the edges of platforms since it would treat me like I was falling instead of landing, but other than that it was solid.

I also appreciate that the enemies can kunai their own friends by accident while I'm dodging them :)

Like everyone else is saying, the art and animations for this are absolutely adorable. :)
I managed to get past the pond, but also got stuck at the log, though I was able to get Darwin on top of it. Not sure if I was on the right track there.
Nice job, I'm sure it'll be really special if you get a chance to work on it further.

Yeah, definitely understand that. I think that's a good idea for an alternative to the rapid clicking! Makes it more about the puzzle aspect and less about how fast you can click.
Thanks for playing!

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!

I hear you on the difficulty! I feel like my whole tower comes crashing down all at once most of the time :)

Thanks for playing!
Do you think they're too unpredictable now, or are you thinking about some way to be able to react to them while they are falling?

Thanks for the feedback! Do you think it would still be challenging if the portraits just fell straight down instead of having the possibility of toppling over? I could perhaps try increasing their mass so that they are less likely to do that. Worth a try!

Yeah, I think you've got a good point, it could have been the gem physics. Had you tried using a circle collider instead of sticking with the gem shape? It might have made it a bit more predictable, which could also help. Just a thought.

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words!
Definitely agree on the scoring. I ended up cutting it due to time, but it was next on my list! :)

Thanks for the kind and detailed feedback, I really appreciate it!
The clicking definitely seems to be a feature that was not very well liked. In hindsight it seems pretty clear now :D
I hadn't thought about the end condition though. I didn't end up working it in, but the elderly do "ascend" once they are off the top of the screen, so you don't have to keep them up forever forever, but the screen does fill up pretty fast. There's certainly something to be played with in terms of balance and making the game have more of an 'arch' to the experience.

(1 edit)

Really impressive level of polish in this game. The graphics are good, the music is good, the level design seems pretty spot on. I also had trouble figuring out the first level until I came back and read the controls, but after that I was able to move on. I like how all the brothers play differently and look a bit different to kinda show what they are good at.
The only thing that was frustrating to me was the arc'ed gem toss. I'd be standing right next to my brother and still miss the throw and have to restart the level. It'd be really nice if it was more of a strong straight toss at the cursor or if it the brothers would suck it in if I threw it "close enough".

Great job for your first jam game! That last room is tough!
I like the little detail of the music tempo picking up when they've caught on to me. Is there any way to get them to give up after that or is it too late?

Impressive level of polish in the game! I really like the sprites and the music.
It felt a little floaty at first, but I think that's where the challenge for the game comes in. Once I got used to it, it felt good.
It was a little difficult to tell what was going on with the slimes joining my rocket. Is there an indicator showing what I'm getting next or any way to control it? It would be fun if I could make some choices on how to build the rocket as I slime my way across space :)

Right on! I got the updated version and was able to get past the title screen. I got through a couple of the battles, but it still crashed on me twice so far, seems to happen when changing scenes. Once when exiting a battle reward screen and once entering a battle. Sorry :(

Really well done. These graphics are great and all the more impressive that it was done using 1-bit colors! The music is also catchy and fits well with the game.
I had some trouble figuring out how to use the levers at first too, but I read some comments here and after that had a lot of fun playing the game. I feel like the pterodactyl was carrying the team though ;)

The music, typewriter, and graphics set a great ambiance for the game. The 2D on 3D was pretty interesting, especially during the perspective switch of the cave tunnel.
First time seeing this meme format ;)

That music is catchy as all get out, I like the art, and the dog bark sound was just really enjoyable. :)
It was challenging, but I felt like it was just the right amount for me. It took me a little while to understand how my bark affected the different people, but once I figured it out it was smooth sailing!

Oh, that makes sense! I missed the shift key when I was playing!

Like everyone else is saying, nice job on the animations! It was fun trying to catch the sticks before they hit the ground, but most of the time I just kept bouncing them off my dog's head :D
Would be nice to jump and catch things in the air too!

Super interesting game and setting! Are you uhhh doing OK? :D
The sound design on this was amazing at setting the mood, and I liked the way you had the audio emitters set up on the TV/doors.

I figured out what I needed to do, but I wasn't quite sure what order to do it in (trying to avoid spoilers) so not gonna lie, I did get to the end but I kinda just spammed my way into the ending. o_o

The art for the game looks beautiful! Unfortunately, the "New Game" button doesn't do anything for me, I'm just stuck in the menu :( (Windows)

Hoo, that is hard! I managed to bus two tables after a few tries though!
These diners have nerves of steel though!
Nice job on your first game jam!

I really like the art you got done for the game! Have you thought about making the characters walk a little bit faster? It was really hard to catch some of the falling clothes.

Really well done for your first game jam! You got a lot done!

Nice little puzzle game. You got a lot of levels designed for a jam also! I enjoy all the sound effects.
First time I played I took the secret shortcut, got stuck on the puzzle, then had to go back to the start and learn how to play :D

Dad wants to know who am I. Who are any of us really in the grand scheme of the universe?

Had fun playing! My own anxiety level started to go up when I started getting my anxiety meter a little too high there :)
I also enjoy the art, and the simple color scheme helps keep track of who is speaking in each part.

Thanks! I appreciate it!

Thanks!
I didn't have much time for balancing, but you're right! I think maybe holding back on how many child-bearing families you create can help, but it does get harder to keep everyone moving up at that point too. :D

Thanks for playing and the feedback!
I think you're right! If I had more time I would have liked to add more "life events" to the mix or bringing in the spouse's parents when you get married and having to integrate them into the family tree.

Sorry to hear that!

I appreciate the kind words and the suggestion!

Thanks for playing!
I definitely agree. I wasn't sure how to score it, but I started to run out of time and decided to skip it, but it sounds like it's something a lot of people would have liked to see. :)

Thank you!
Yea, I didn't realize the clicking would get so tedious :D I think maybe hovering or click/hold might work if I were to expand the game.

Thanks!
Glad the tutorial was helpful! I didn't want to spend a lot of time making a hand holding walkthrough, so it's nice to hear it was welcome. :)

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to play!

Thanks!
I originally also wanted the children something that needed to be managed, but ended up just making their challenge being getting in the way of trying to bump the adults up. :)

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to play!

Lots of potential! I like the mechanic and the art is also good. I am also in the group of people that couldn't beat the first level though :(

Really fantastic job! Everything is really polished, I love all the voices and the blurbs they have if they stand around for too long. Puzzles are all pretty interesting, and characters are introduced well.
Had a lot of fun playing it!

If I had one suggestion, I wish the Q/E swap consistently rotated through the family by name instead of by horizontal position. :)

Really beautiful art, and nice job with the lighting effects too!
I wish the woofing made noise T_T

I saved everyone, but I made sure to save the drunk aunt and uncle first. I don't want the rest of the family getting bored while they are waiting out there.

Well done! Nice job with the pathfinding too :)
