does anyone know if the current test build for 0.8.2b has fixed the nail bug yet? i'm still currently waiting on a patch to fix the nails

this is an old, dead thread but i witnessed something very similar to this event
kerfur omega disappeared again, but this time he wasn't out to get a report or anything, he was simply turned off on the floor in the signal processing room, and there was no blood stain or anything left of him
at some point, he just disappeared and i'm not sure why, there's no sign of him on the radar, no camera feed, or anything, and i've even checked every location to no avail
hold on i just realized, i've had this corkboard nailed down this whole time and it hasn't freaked out? yet every other thing i've made with nails has glitched out on some weird way
...now i'm thinking nails only will glitch out if the object they're attached to is nailed to more than one object, because everything else that has collapsed was nailed to more than one thing at once
i don't believe the physgun and welder work after save and reloads, that's the thing
i was considering using the welder, but it says it causes major issues if you save and reload and i'm not gonna tempt fate on that. As for the physgun, i don't know if it's true anymore but if you reload, anything you freeze with the physgun unfreezes and falls anyway
yeah, that sucks, i think we might need to wait until a patch to be able to build anything that easily
the only idea i have left is to physically hold things in place with stuff that sticks to the wall like shelves and such, but that's a really niche use and wouldn't be able to be used on most projects
I have considered using pins, but they seem quite impractical especially for larger projects like the "shanty town" i mentioned earlier. They might be too fragile to really use efficiently, since too many pins might cause major lag and pins also have very similar programming to nails, so i'm not sure if i trust them staying together if i save and load. I am willing to try pins though, i just have some doubts
so i loaded back onto the save after going to bed, and half of the wooden parts on the shanty town decided to explode everywhere, for some reason in the latest version nails are completely bugged and behave weirdly when the save is reloaded
the example chair was also a victim of this, but it seems to be stuck in place where i put it and won't move anywhere instead
i saw that glue was added to the game recently too, so i may try to use that instead as a better alternative to nails
edit: nevermind, seems that glue has a completely different use, it doesn't actually do anything with fixing items in place
nails seem to completely detach, become frozen still or become wildly out of place when reloading the save, anything that i've used nails on have either become permanently frozen in place or flung out of the map due to random physics gore
this is quite annoying since one of the primary things i use in decoration are nails, and it keeps turning my base into a mess every time i reload
currently, there's nothing on the roof since i haven't gotten to that yet, i'm also planning on filling the "shanty town" with more furniture but that'll be a while

apologies for the mess btw, this is a second iteration of the shanty town, the first one decided to have a seizure and explode. Note to self, don't use planks and pallets as the foundation.
This is just a fun little thread I'm making just to see what you guys can do with scraps of wood lol
Basically, the premise is to build things with scraps of wood, planks, pallets, whatever have you that's mostly wood, and can also include the wall builder depending on what's being made, and these structures often being held together by as many nails as deemed fit.
note that the materials don't have to always strictly be wood, you're welcome to make things out of other materials if possible
as an example; behold, my first creation. the most uncomfortable chair known to man.
it's unclear because the steam release is probably still a very long time from now, but i'm willing to bet that supporters will get keys to the full release if they were supporters beforehand, most developers that i know of tend to do that
and yeah even if we don't get steam keys, i'm still willing to pay twice since voices of the void is one of my favorite games
i'm starting to think there should be more events that happen at daytime. Most of the events, especially story ones, happen in the middle of the night and it makes daytime feel like a "safe" zone where nothing scary will happen, it makes daytime quite boring because you have no fear of anything happening, especially when there's not much to occupy yourself with if you're later in the game
I also think there should still be some more entities that could be encountered at daytime like those at night, but still not as common since with daytime you can see better
if you get a kerfur omega, you can easily ignore the daily tasks/server repairing by sending him there if you don't enjoy doing it yourself, but i do agree that the hash codes and repairs are kind of bland in the way that they don't have anything much going on with them, in fact there's barely any events i know of that really interact with the satellites at all
the core tasks in my opinion don't need any tweaks, but the stuff surrounding it really needs to be expanded to make it more interesting
i've had this show up in my save too lol
instead of it happening out somewhere though, it happened while i was in my base
a light started shining in the sky outside the window and it started to get extremely bright, before it seemingly shot a white beam at me as it sent everything flying as the object showed up on the floor
i've gotten though all of the days in story mode plus 2 or so weeks more and nothing has ever happened to it, i think it's just a funny collectible item the game lets you keep
yeah, while the latest version is still way better than the test build, i don't think it's really polished that well, i don't know why they are likely working on a bigger update when the current version isn't fully patched
road signs have always been a terrible way for navigation, even if they functioned they'd be super confusing
the game is set in the middle of the woods so it's more designed on the use of landmarks rather than signs that tell you where everything is, the road signs to me are nothing but for immersion
this isn't exactly an entity discovery or such but i might as well bring it up here
if anyone is wondering why they can only print their models in game with the plastic material, there's a properties document that gets created once the game reads the model
along with some other stuff there's a materials setting that sets different materials depending on the number you put in
i don't know exactly what materials are on each number though, if anyone can list them here that'd be useful
more decorations definitely, like string lights, LEDs, especially decorations that can be hung up, there's so many things you can put on desks and stuff like the million different plushies you can find but all that you can put on walls are pretty much just posters and paintings
and with string lights and LEDs and stuff could be more variety for colored lights than the glowsticks, i feel like the glowsticks are really weak and don't easily light up a room, so if you want a brighter room with that color you'd have to use like a million of them, and i mean yeah there's the neon lights that were added but those are only select few colors and in some cases you wouldn't want the whole design of the neon light on there
light tubes also exist but they're really fragile and only exist in blue and red
