Regarding my feedback on the signs to the west of the base, while they are now rotated correctly, the ones pointing back to the base now dont have their line of text on them. They are blank. Posted here and not in bugs since it's technically not a bug.
Edit: Even more blank signs.

The power washer is somehow worse and slower than the mop at cleaning those windows. It will only clean the exact spot where the water jet intersects the window, whereas the mop will affect a small area around the mop head. This is annoying because if you point the same power washer at an Ariral wall graffito, the whole window-sized decal will go away all at once.
One of the cheeky aliens left a “big sponge” the size of a dang watermelon outside the base where they like to scatter strange brownies and graffiti. I haven’t tried it yet because it’s a full quarter of poor Dr. Kel’s inventory – and frankly also not sure if it will explode or tempt me to eat it instead.
For me its annoying as I'm not a fan of horror games. I really struggle with them and the last two updates of the game have been a great way for me to get into it without it being too scary or in your face about it and a big part of it for me was being able to see outside to watch your surroundings and make it feel less clostrophbic.
I get it makes it harder to keep an eye on it but its just a bit annoying to have to do and I find myself struggling with both washing them and having to power though to get that visuality back.
(Translated in Google). Of course, I ran around, looked, it turned out pretty good, I played this game from the very beginning, from version 0.7.0, and now I don't want to spoil my impressions from playing it again when the release comes out. So I decided to wait for the release and the game to appear on Steam to play it again.
"SUGGESTIONS" I wanted the game to be more optimized and for those with a weak computer. It would also be nice to add co-op for the game. More interaction with the ariralami.
(In my personal opinion, I am not imposing anything)
The game keeps getting better and better but I would add a couple more
All of the following.
1. animations on kell. It's not nice to look at your shadow and realize that you are sliding just on the surface.
Add on kell animations walking, running, jumping, crouching, moving in a crouch.
2. I think someone already wrote this, but binoculars did not place. The trick is this. By default zoom is tied to the x button. You can make it so that until you do not have binoculars you can not approach. This already adds logic to the game.
3. Maybe, but for those who like too much beauty and decor add paint or wallpaper. Honestly it will add more ideas what you can do on the base.
4. In all the time that I have played the game I have noticed one thing. Arirals have no animations. Yes, they are transparent and they are not visible and animations are probably not needed, but if you add a device or some thing to make them visible, animations can be useful. Because I noticed that like kell they are sliding. ( This is unlikely, but we'll see )
5. The cave where we mine uranium is too hard location. Not only do you have to go down for billions of kilometers for uranium you will die as many times, and as many times you will die while climbing back up. If the generation of the cave is random, it is better to redo, and until you do not sign a contract with the devil you can not do anything there.
6. Omega kerfur can just improve and improve as much as you want. This robot is an imba and I would like to add some more features to it.
It learned how to get on an ATV after a long time. You can still add some chips for a change.
This is so far all that I would like in 0.9.0. At least I'm not the only one who wanted it and that's why I suggested these ideas. If any of this is possible I would be grateful.
Thank you immediately for the answer if you leave it. If any of this is not possible, please write about it.
And excuse my English. I am German and I used a translator.
Not sure on having to clean the windows. It seems like both a time consuming thing to do and its not only not fun but means you can't even see the satellites from your work station until they are cleaned.
I like the idea of cleaning up the base but the windows are just a pain because of their size and the expense to clean them.
Also the new door pad is just not the best. I get what was being done and it does look better but having to press each induvial button rather then typing it is annoying and fiddly.
Idk if leaving it unlocked leads to things getting inside but given the hassle it is to use I've taken to just leaving it unlocked.
I feel like the window shouldn't get dirty as fast as it currently does, the first window I cleaned with a pressure washer had visible stains on it by the time I started cleaning the third one.
If it doesn't already exist and I am just blind, there should also be a way to toggle poster snap to grid. Some of my posters don't align with surfaces correctly with it.
i want a rechargeable flashlight battery/flashlight itself thats shake powered
so either you shake it as an item in the world or right click use to shake it to charge it in the hand
+ is that its field rechargable
- is that it makes noise and doesnt last anywhere near as long as the normal flashlight
this is what i first thought acc. batteries were based on their name
This feedback isn't necessarily related to version 0.8.0, but if I could leave some general feedback, I would say that it would be nice to have a way to play on a more updated version of the game, on the same file,m without losing all your items, and kerfus :(. I know this is no small request, but if this could be implemented someday in the future, I think it would be nice , I also think it would be really nice if you could disable blood and gore from the settings in some way, for I know some of my friends, others, and I would really like that, otherwise amazing game!
Game's fantastic, started on the 0.8 test version and am on my 2nd save, but some issues and suggestions are:
-performance gets really bad in certain rooms, outside, and a lot of graphics settings make little to no performance difference
-some stuff doesn't save properly and messes up on load, like nails and signals being downloaded
-all electronics with cables should be retractable like Kerfur's since cables tend to clip alot
-a lot of cracks and dirt are permanent, maybe paint and/or a way to repair the base?
-the cats still count as food and can be eaten or stolen
-if the fridge and bed will stay immovable, have a regular fridge and bed be purchasable
-have Kerfur and Omega's colors be customizable and not tied to the to models, maybe have 3 chest/torso parts instead? they're also really fragile and the clothing dropping makes them lot heavier when putting them back together
-the pressure washer feels useless since the mop is cheaper, lasts longer without water and has a wider area
1) Sometimes i want to remain hooked to something and use other tool, maybe some belt will add that feature?
2) I dont know if it will fit in game or not but how about ability to close/open garage door when sitting on ATV? (or maybe add that ability to car keys) (you can use TV remote)
3) Maybe ability to swap drive content in processing machine? (i didnt checked that in 0.8.0 but when i tried to import full drive onto it when there was already data, it just override it)
4) As i already told that in bug report topic, i would apprieciate ability to leave terminal/computer on "dismount" (or similiar) keybind and rebind "commit" from enter to E to use that in coordinate panel. Maybe even close inventories with Q?
5) Grapling hook that shoot hook? (OH NO MABEL FROM GRAVITY FALLS WOULD BE PROUD) - in my mind that would be more stronger than already existing hook and wold launch further, and it will be working with "hook belt" i mentioned earlier.
6) Camera UI rework? Maybe ability to control it like telescope does. For drone, i kinda like that its one action at a time, but it's up to you, would be nice to see full and better drone control.
7) Photos from cameras in UI. I want cameras have ability to take photos (not the digital camera, i mean that 3 [bad, med, good]
8) Ability to put items on the floor in to held container?
9) I think alarm clock should also show time :D (not in visual way, i mean in the floating UI bounding box). I have no problem reading time from analog clock, but still.
10) Random banana peel event? (Spawn banana peel right behind doors, so players in rush will slip, and maybe got scared :D)
11) Is it possible to move pc under the table? I still shutdown it sometimes :D
12) Candles as alternative light source?
Please, i do not REQUIRE that things and do not DEMAND you to do that, i just sharing my thoughts and thats it. Its up to you anyway. I know how damn hard is game dev.
1 kind of exists as a bug right now for hooking specifically to objects. Hold the hook, stand over the object, toss the hook straight up, hook the other end to the object, and let the first hook land on the object. One end of the hook should be hooked directly onto you, note that this breaks and requires you to redo it if you ragdoll.
I think someone else mentioned it but I hope we get hotbar options. IE, reversing the scrollwheel direction, changing what edge of the screen its on, how long it stays on screen (if it dissapears at all) ect
mostly the reversing scrollwheel part though. mwheel up to increase the number feels very awkward
the window gets dirty way too fast, it's really annoying to deal with so frequently and it should be tweaked to gain dirt much slower, maybe even not gain dirt at all after you clean it
maybe it could sometimes get dirt on it when it rains? though it wouldn't make sense to happen on the inner side of the window, it would happen on the outside
also the mop should have a lot more range than it currently has, cleaning the window is especially more annoying when you can't easily reach the upper part of it despite the fact that the mop should have enough range to easily reach it
I'm almost 1000% certain this is user error on my part, but it feels like Kerfur Omega's pathfinding is significantly worse than before.
I've noticed them getting stuck a lot more, one was at Tango in the middle of the night getting reports and just stopped moving, on getting there it turns out she was somehow infatuated with one of the supports of the radar and I had to turn her off and on again to make her work, which "ate" my report in the process meaning all that time was for nothing.
One also got stuck on the wooden fences around the base, somehow, and if snow mode is on, they often path into the bridges and get stuck, which makes sense as it seems they like to path under the bridges through the water, which of course they can't do as the rivers are frozen in snow mode and snow mode is a WIP in of itself.
I only even bring this up because it's an annoyingly frequent event that I have to manually go and find them in order to fix and as I have so rarely had pathfinding issues with them in the past, I'm convinced I'm doing something wrong. I dunno, maybe I need to replace their CPUs.
yes, I said that. Still felt right to point it out so people know what to expect.
And yeah, I understand and should've mentioned that, the new terrain didn't cross my mind as I was typing because Kerfur-O does manage to navigate well a lot of the time, just of course when the issues do arise, and they do more often because of course, new terrain, it does get frustrating quickly.
the wastebasket should be an open container as well, it'd be great if i could carry it around in order to collect trash in it or dump it out without all of the items inside thrashing about and possibly getting everywhere
also there should be a bigger cork board, the one we currently have is too small for a lot of things that you could use it for
Yo, awesome game, love it. And It's good to see a new update drop. A quick question, is there any chance, like any chance, could even be 1%, that you could add multiplayer? Like no lobbies, just with friends? It's probably hard and would take quite the effort, but would be kinda cool, like one person stay at the base and collects signals while the other goes out and deals with the satellites. Thanks.
I love the update in a lot of ways. The only things I dislike are minor nitpicks, tbh. Like, I think the amount of cliffs and geometry added can be quite annoying to drive through, and the slightest movement can damage the ATV now, but aside from that, the only things I openly dislike are the amount of bugs.
-Kerfur pathing is worse than it has ever been.
-Ramps for Kerfur that I feel could've been added, rather than bought in the store. QoL should be added for the game's health, not given as an option. Maybe it's my ignorance, but I don't think that, if you could've reworked a lot of areas of the map, you couldn't have added slopes around the base for Kerfur.
-Double-tapping on the PC when you interact with it, as it seems E seems to interact with stuff on the PC, rather than initiate use.
These are the only things I have noticed the MOST. Again, everything else is minor, like how loud the Frame can still be, as an example.
i really think if the frame gets that loud when it's fully upgraded, built walls and other items with solid collision should be able to muffle sound just like map geometry, i really hate it that you have to spoil how an entire area or room sounds because of how loud it is without any way to muffle it
i would suggest adding plugs to somewhere like the bunker but, telling from how you can't turn the lights on in there i doubt the bunker has power, as well as the fact that some also want to try and use the bunker as a room too
Love the new changes to the ATV revving, no more jerking etc.
The new terrain is pretty rough and bumpy in a lot of places, which leads to the ATV taking a LOT of damage (ex. going up slight bumps in the terrain or even just going fast on some gradual slopes).
Increasing the suspension, or adding more "tolerance" for bumps from directly under the ATV would make the experience of driving around a whole lot smoother (literally).
I'm pretty new to the game. I'm not sure what's old or new, or what's a problem, or by design. BUT
What's the over under on saving session data becoming a thing? I had a gigantic download that takes like 24 ingame hours get flushed down the toilet twice because I saved and exited the game. But the data is only saved if it's on a disk and not an in-progress download.
Actually makes managing playtime of the game difficult, as you get stuck waiting for a download when it's irl bedtime or something.
In addition to the tape measure it would be very nice if there were more ingame measuring options. Most specifically I'd like a protractor (for measuring angles) and a scientific calculator. Maybe also the ability to enter maths expressions into the terminals to get an answer?
(Totally not overcomplicating the white argemia ritual with Nerd Malarky)
I genuinely wish this game had a proper borderless windowed mode. I don’t know if the “remove borders” option is supposed to be that, but it does not work properly. It’s still fullscreen. It should act as if the game is in windowed mode, but with no borders… as obvious as it sounds. I also desperately wish this game had an option to play audio when alt+tabbed. Half the games I play don’t even have an option for it, but it’s really not too difficult to add. These two things are so consistently an issue for me that it makes me not want to play at all, but they should be very easy to implement. Please consider it.
I also think this game could really use some other AA implementations - I think it must use temporal AA right now and it honestly looks awful, especially on monitors. The way things blur and mix together is consistently immersion-breaking.
Two more bits of random feedback. Why are trash bag rolls so voluminous, lol? Is it for balance or something? Filled trash bags should be hard to carry around, not a roll. It’s a little bit silly. In fact a lot of items have pretty ridiculous and seemingly-arbitrary volumes - is this being calculated automatically or something? I’m not sure I understand…
I love that you can clean the window in the base, but it becomes dirty much too quickly, especially considering you clean it from the inside… by the way, I think it would be better if you had to clean it from the outside as well, which leaves you potentially vulnerable to anything out there. After all, it’s much more common for windows to become dirty from outside anyway.
Finally… do you want any help with the text in the game? I understand why, but the text often reads strangely and has a significant amount of general errors. Some of this is fine, especially in emails, but things like a lot of the help text can be improved. I’ve worked on copy editing for other small games/mods before (I think most recently Starstorm for Risk of Rain 1, but I currently do subtitle editing for an anime project as well), and I’m happy to help if it’s something you need. If it’s not a priority right now, it’s fairly minor.
I agree with just about all of this. I stream the game, and whenever I need to alt tab to mute mic/soundboard/touch OBS - it switches everything on my two monitors around and is awful. Definitely need borderless window mode immediately. Alt+Enter windows it, but then when you click resume and enter the game again, it goes right back to fullscreen. Sort of infuriating.
Oh yeah, I forgot to talk about this in my last post: Positional audio! I think it could be dramatically improved, but I’m not sure if this is something that’s just planned for later or not. The current line of sight based audio is… extremely strange, and breaks immersion frequently. Shifting slightly to the right and suddenly being completely unable to hear a TV in the next room with an open door is completely absurd. I don’t expect cutting edge actual-sound-wave technology, but even a simple proximity-based audio system is significantly more realistic and immersive - even though this isn’t how it works in real life, we “expect” to be able to hear things closer, and not to be able to hear things farther. Real life sound is obviously much more complicated than this but it’s definitely out of scope to get this completely right.
I think just switching to a more natural proximity-based system for the time being, if a more substantial audio system is planned, would fix these issues easily.
I love the game overall, the balance of spooky and trying to do work around it is great, there are so many little things going on all the time. Steady advancement around the struggle to keep a sleep schedule and not run out of shrimp is very satisfying. I like how sometimes the spooky things are just completely independent and indifferent to you and how Kerfur is bad on purpose but can be improved. The overall vibe of everything being slightly ramshackle/makeshift is a lot of fun.
Things I would like to see: more uses for scrap, building things, upgrading things etc. It would be cool to be able to throw some rubber and metal at the ATV to make it more durable. Extension cords would be nice and you could even start fires if people daisy chain them together. Maybe a controller for the drone so you don't need to use the computer interface forever. Better IR or night vision for the cameras at night would be nice, even as a mid game upgrade since almost everything is still just black in IR. I'm sure part of the intent of the game is to be weak but there are a couple of places where you have to fight things and you really need a weapon, or the fights feel more like chores instead of tense moments.
It is too easy to accidentally "hold" furniture. Then it teleports into your hands and everything on AND nailed onto the furniture falls to the ground. No more decorating. Can we restrict the "hold" action in certain cases? Maybe if the furniture is nailed down to the world? Maybe we can "freeze" an object with a separate button to prevent (player) changes to it. Maybe just make all furniture unable to be held (I'm not sure why I can hold a bookcase, for example).
I think it's great but i suggest if possible to implement automatic door (that can be locked), to move the hallway light switches from the room in the garage, to have backpack directly expand your inventory and the new base is great and all but since it's meant for a single person it may be better to have a smaller one who is designed for a single user. Didn't like the bunk beads. Also it would be fantastic to have a smaller version for android, maybe only the signal analisis part but i would play it fore sure
The boar spawns could be fewer and limited to like three at the same time. Also, during the tank event, I slept a bit and it no longer appeared.
KerfurO becomes useless after the boars begin spawning in the same way KerfurO becomes useless during the orbs, but the boars continue on and on. I think it would be suitable to make the tank battle the moment the boars begin spawning less.
Ahoj
Take vám velice chvalím interier transformatoru, i když ty počitače v nich by mohli být funkční dost by to usnadnilo práci.
The game is more full of content now, but I feel it with a lack, like, visible arirals, like a little event, In which you will see an ariral without the Invisibility for seconds, like a peeping, idk.
A good addition would be a smartphone, like a upgrade of the digital map with the camera and, and you will be able to take photos, look at the emails but more limited, send messages or receive from the arirals, and some event like looking at the screen for a lot of time until the world gets darker and a giant phone appears and falls on you, and that can be a final or a hallucination. and another function of the phone could be of posting the photos that you take and arirals and other characters will be able to comment depending on what's in the image.
A little item that would be funny to add, could be a portable bluetooth speaker with multifunctions, like being a bass boom gun, music for the arirals, eerie and kerfur omega and you could also make dance the pyramid if you are really close to him.
a event could be of an ariral plushie that you have transforming into a doll that plays a remix of Can you feel the Sunshine, and It chases you until you die and get a very scary screen and you aren't able to close the game, you need to wait minutes. This is obviously a reference to tails doll.
(My ideas are bad, no? 🫣)
1. Garbage bags rolls have too high volume (max 2 in inventory, are you serious?) :)
!!!!!2. Boars are terribly annoying. We need an event that makes them to go away just like it was with wisps! Its really hard to enjoy the game since they are there. Some people left the game :(
!!!3. Not sure if we needed bossfights, some of people just wants to play this sandbox-horror game, not a fighting game (or at least to make them much easier to not be pain In some places haha)
4. Ahh hell nah delivery drone is now landing outside, don't know if it's good or bad, just really unusual
Bsides this everything is oki! New map disign is cool!
First timer here, currently on day 24. I'm absolutely loving the game, you've nailed the balance of this type of horror near perfectly. Sometimes I wish events would be MORE cuz to be honest some nights go by and I dont even notice anything happen, but other times HOLY F*** , the game has practically consumed all my daylight playtime (I can't play this at night no way)
Thank you very much for making this and continuing to put work into it, I wish you the best of luck and Thank you, from my heart!
Drones broken, towers online, the drive box with a green drive is all that's there in its pickup area, and it just plays a ding noise when I call it. But it just doesn't come so I am completely soft locked out of playing the game..
also falling two feet shouldn't nearly kill the player
just all in all after coming back to this game after awhile I guess I should have stayed gone! thanks for the free headache though!!!
hey so i was try to play votv today/yesterday and i couldn't play for more than five minutes without my computer completely crashing and causing my gpu drivers to have an error code, it happened twice i was wondering if the dev or anyone else could explain
I am currently running an amd radeon RX 580 2048SP.
Just writing down very short ver of what I will write more about later.
-Great new terrain! Would like the new trees to go with it. Makes me memorize and characterize the landscape better. I do think it needs more rocky/nature assets in order to hide imperfections of the jaggedy parts of the new terrain. Oh right, its fairly jagged looking and feeling in a lot of places.
-New upgrade prices are great!
-Nerf to selling trash is a bummer. Did you nerf it? It feels nerfed. Maybe I just wasted more money with new things to spend on.
-New transformer buildings are great. Extend this to the satellites! Satellites, especially the ones that arent closest to base needs some personality. Something to discover about one or two of them. A basement in one, or a broken catwalk (Kerfur denying satellite) and of course some environmental story telling.
-The pacing of the days do start to feel incredibly slow and bare after day 30-40+. I think I know why, and my solution would be to give us something to work towards.
-The uh, boss? Is kinda boring and difficult. I like the idea, I personally wish we had more tools against it (couldnt hook it).
-Theres more things to investigate, but cannot find the how or what on interacting with them. Please dont make too many moon-logic solutions for things that we investigate if it is thee case.
-Need more signals! Interesting signals, mundane signals. Even on my first playtrough in 0.7 Ive come across many of the same signals.
-More signals+ Signals, notes, locations that have something to do with each other. A note that points to where one should scan and how many times for a signal that can activate/give something.
Annoyances
-Normal kerfur cant hop over those very small curbs of the satellites, resulting in controlling them often.
-O-Kerfur has spots where they stop and gawk from their location. Particularly when it goes from Romeo to Tango, it will stop somewhere in-between, and if you control him and give back control, he will loop back to Romeo. (This was a Report gathering command).
-An event that I think is supposed to re-position the ATV on a bridge with 200 fuel instead leaves it lodged into a wall, destroying itself for -billion damage. I barely unglitched it out of the wall.
-Tonemapper Film filter makes everything more dark and In my opinion, does not fit the aesthetics of Voices of the Void. Colour filter also turned off. These filters perhaps need sliders or turned off by default. I dont know what these filters try to achieve aesthetically.
-Not all papers work for creating molotovs (crumpled note papers, paper scrap).
-Getting drunk needs to work differently. Drinking too much beer leads to not being able to play properly for a fairly long time. A limit to the drunk effect and perhaps a limit to how much we can drink needs to be put in place.
Hello developer, I don't know how to contact you, but I have a question. If I create a proper localization of the game into Russian, will you add it to the game? I can translate while keeping all the addresses by using the English version as a base. The game is really great, but the Russian localization is bad, and the empty mails hide part of the lore. Please let me know how to contact you if you're interested. I'm ready to help.
Hiya! I am loving the new update, but I have noticed something. Shadows tank the game's performance. I manage with about 35 to 50 fps while im in base with shadows on 1. When set to 0, I get a buttery smooth 60 fps. I don't remember having this bad of performance issues on Version 0.7 or 0.6. Does it have to do with the way shadows are drawn?
Also thanks for adding the Moon!
It would be nice to add a button to switch the game to windowed mode. Very necessary thing because the game does not always want to be in windowed mode when combining keys. Also rocks fly in the air that can not move on the map. Sometimes there is a lag that the signal on the frequency radar is but the picture shows that the signal is not. Sometimes happens when fixing the server line from the digit to the digit disappears. And Kerfus when going to the satellite O at the top of the stairs at the door he flies out as a springboard, sometimes stuck in the base of the satellites can not drive on them.
hi mrdrnose I really like your game it’s addictive for 50 hours even though I’m from Russian I’m very friendly although not very sociable I want you to promote yours everywhere you can in any language in any country in any part of the world and please fix it in Russian empty messages, most of the lore goes to those who do not understand English or another language
Please optimize this game more. Somehow. Nothing makes it look like it would be so performance heavy, yet my 1050 graphics card only runs it at ~40-45 fps with 95% res and everything else off. I can run RDR2 at 50-60 fps on medium settings.
I have a friend who would also like to enjoy the game with a weaker graphics card but can't (getting below 20 fps).
Please. Performance should really be a high priority for the future.
Zombie Kerfus is vastly overtuned, it has 2-3 times as much health as it should. Scared the hell out of me the first time but after 30 deaths I'm just abandoning the game. Tried everything from trapping it in the incinerator, explosive barrels, running it over in the ATV, trapping it in a river, throwing saw blades, and just slugging it out with medicine and the crowbar and I haven't survived phase 3 once.
I get you want this to be scary but an enemy this overbearing in a game where 99% of the time you're looking at screens and your only real weapon is melee shouldn't be a thing. Either give the player more ways to fight effectively or tone down the HP on bosses. If anything I'm hearing that there are bosses that are even stronger which is concerning.
The main issue with changing the health is then the other better weapons would make the fight even easier.
You either leave the stronger melee weapons untouched but then the fight would be way easier with them.
You could also nerf the stronger weapons, too, which is honestly fair. 30 damage compared to the crowbar's 10 at the cost of a bit slower swing speed (doesn't even affect it being better) is a bit much, I feel it will make the post-nerf boss(es) kind of a pushover from what I am seeing.
I understand the point of the splash screen at the start warning of various phobias and possible flashing. But can that be made skipable with an option or perhaps not appear after you accept for the first time? I'd even take getting rid of the 'I accept' prompt and replacing it with a 5 sec timer. Just slows down starting up the game and it's annoying to read time and time again.
I'd also like to echo other suggestions on finishing up the base changes in regards to the open roof in the garage no longer really serving a purpose with the drone delivering outside. Perhaps move the dome over it and convert it to a lighthouse-esque building with a trap door in the garage? A retractable door for larger deliveries or special deliveries? I do like the drone delivering outside though.
There's also a hollow stump near the base and river that has a barrel containing around 50 MRE's. Upon jumping into the stump, I was unable to exit it as I couldn't jump high enough to climb out. I eventually gave up and no clipped out. May need a false step similar to what the shed with the shovel got to prevent getting stuck. Unless you're supposed to be stuck with no chance of escape.
Thanks for the game. Pretty fun.
Okay finally gonna write more in detail after having played seemingly several days even on the last day.
The new terrain is great, it makes the environment more memorable and recognizable, just want the new trees to go with it. It is still jaggedy in a lot of places, if anything those places could use more nature assets.
Mushrooms are a lot harder to spot, and the new smokes from the Transformers make it possible to navigate. The wind turbines are kind of pointless at the moment, but they do serve as a good landmark from anywhere.
-New upgrade prices are really good although would need some more upgrades. There are certain upgrades that are kind of useless, like the radar history one (I always sell that). The increase in prices are good, but not so good for upgrades that arent that great. Resulting in tactically figuring out what is good, what is not. So some more pricing balancing would be appreciated towards those that are fairly useless. Might I suggest ATV handling upgrades? What about door upgrades? Dont really know what those would do but it an expansion in what we can spend our points on would be better than having to spend 16 points in the same thing.
-I still do not know if trash selling has been nerfed. I wish it is not, especially since you can shovel garbage for more useful trash. I think a trade off where selling the trash means you loose out on potentially great crafting material but get points. Speaking of! Let us buy crafting books! Yes! Books that give you some things you can craft. Like, a book that uses lots of paper scrap for some decorations you can craft, or a wood scrap one for survivalist thing, or furniture. Of course as well for metal and what not.
-I like the new transformer buildings, they have some diversity now and are personified. But especially for the satellites. Especially-ESPECIALLY the furthest satellites. They need some personality, maybe one of them had a guy stationed at it at all times, maybe another is heavily barricaded, and another has a fence and working on its platform, and maybe, one has a door under it that leads to somewhere with the use of the keycard that you find, oOOoo!
-The pacing of the days do start to feel incredibly slow and bare after day 30-40+. At this point, you do get used to the game, and are subjected to the invasion of those glowy suns. I do not know what plans there are for the hole and going in it, but after being subjected to this invasion, you are stripped from this invasion and it all gets peaceful, and boring again. This happens again with the pigs, and the roaming boss. Its the same, but maybe more appropriate.
My suggestion would be to have another visitor, maybe unfriendly, that is making some kind of progress. It does something in one part of the map, and it will do something else in another part of the map. Not a real entity, more like some environments update and leaving behind traces of evidence to it. It does something new per day when the player finds each thing. The cue may be a sound, or a light, or something that gets the player to investigate (Satellite gets downed for instance). You know, something that makes the world feel like something is happening, rather than just, random. The Arirals visiting is probably the only thing similar to this.
-The boss sucks. Straight up. After 3 days of prepping to get at him...
I found him outside of the radar, flipped out in the river near the start. So, I took out one fuel can off of him, then he spun too fast to do it again. So I gravity gunned him out, had a fair molotov cocktail sunlock fight (Really annoying that it does not hit it), did some damage, and it flipped out again, and then I ended his misery however I managed. What a boring boss thing. I can assume, Arirals would lend us their gun (for real this time) to use it against him after a few days, but that would take away the pleasure of doing it yourself. Hooks didnt work against him, many other tools didnt work. It just sucked fighting against him. Would be funny to pin him against a tree like spiderman and his victims with hooks and have him just be there forever as part of the forest.
-Need more signals! Interesting signals, mundane signals. Even on my first playtrough in 0.7 Ive come across many of the same signals. Most of the game has you finding signals and it is what rewards you, would love to make signal hunting interesting again. But how about more unique signals, notes, locations that have something to do with each other. A note that points to where one should scan and how many times for a signal that can activate/give something.
Other than bad kerfur/O-Kerfur pathing now, some few buggy events, crumbled/paperscrap not being able to be used for molotov etc. This is a 'good' update. If this is 0.8, then 0.9 and 1.0 is going to be a huge leap cus, you dont have the new trees yet, satellites still feel bare, lots of the story is not revealed yet. I just hope that there are not many moon-logic discoveries. The CotL plushy and how to get it? Crazy elaborate for something so... disappointing? I get why you have some of these crazy moon-logic, hard to find things in the game, so that people talk but... that, ruins the mystery :| You kinda want people to discover and engage with the game themselves, not find these tidbits on youtube.
Hope we can add an option to allow people to pause during events. I have autism and the sounds and triggers of events can be very overstimulating. having the ability to pause during them would be helpful in allowing me to decompress and process things before continuing. I understand that for some feeling trapped in the moment enhances the experience of these events but for me it can make it difficult to play. So I hope we can get a default off option to help in this regard as otherwise I love the games calm but uneasy atmosphere
ATV audio for acceleration is wonkey, it should have a smoother transition. for example if you tap acceleration you can hear the start of the audio clip in a harsh way. The audio should have a rise to max rev. If that makes any sense.
Dr. Kel needs to have like a 6th sense instead of [save: NULL] indication. An audio cue or the character voicing that "something doesn't feel right."
Some examples could be:
Heavy breathing, breath fog , a quiet heartbeat, scratching noises, directional whisper that makes you turn in the direction of an entity you shouldn't look at [don't look reference], screen effects depending on the entity like tunnel vision, inverted colors, or vision like you are looking through a broken mirror with it's slightly off plain of view.
Making the moon bigger is a good idea.
You can put a Majoras Mask reference with this suggestion too. I never played it and yet the image still freaks me out.
It would be funny if you can change the moons reputation based on how much cheese you eat.
A Trip To the Moon reference possible (where the space ship crashes into the moon's eye).
Wallace and Gromit (a grand day out) references possible (which had a coin operated murder robot in it)
I think using AI music should be considered or even used as a starting place to add more music. Suno.com
ie use AI to create the song and then pay to have it recreated by a musician on fiver or something. I am sure Patreons have skills that can be donated.
Fair point about the AI, but I think AI is a good starting point to doing projects.
Getting new ideas on how to arrange songs or musical concepts.
Crunchy Spectrogram Instrumental Example
I actually posted this and opened up VOTV and realized that there was already musicians making stuff for the game.
I guess that is kinda lame of me, but it's too late to undo.
Would suggest making a "binoculars" item that the player can use. Anytime I play FPS games, I always like having a weapon that allows me to zoom in cause I can see enemies, sure, but I can also identify and track anything of note. For example, I stored a bunch of stuff in a trashcan cause I couldn't carry all of it in my inventory.
Unfortunately I also am very impatient, so I was throwing it towards the base and eventually lost it. At the moment I'm on top of the radio tower, trying to find the trashcan and can't really see much of anything with the player zoom feature.
I guess this is sort of me complaining about hubris, since I was assuming I wouldn't lose a garbage can in a very densely packed area of foliage near the base, but here we are.
Anyway, binoculars would be neat. Maybe the player could control the current maximum zoom in a menu or something like that, but that might also just might be complicated to make.
Hi !
First of all, amazing game !!
There is a little thing that bothers me with the current system update, I updated to the maximum the server stability, It would be nice that when it's updated to the maximum, the server would not crash anymore or at least on very rare ocasion.
I have my server stability to 16/16 and still almost everyday I have 2 servers down during the day. I basically don't see the difference from before I updated this stat.
Thank you !! <3 <3
(Google translator) I would like the game not to strive to become a horror first and foremost. I don't mind if it has more events and screamers, but I don't want to see them every 5 minutes. At the moment the game looks promising and I didn't find many disadvantages. As for the multiplayer: at the moment I don't know how it is in other countries but in the Russian segment the game is very popular and if the author asked for help, there would be people willing to help or explain how this function works. And I also thought that the game, due to its monotony, could scare off some players, so I suggest adding 2 modes before the game is released on Steam: original and close to horror with a large number of screamers. I would also postpone the optimization of the game for now due to possible reworking of the game and tighten up the optimization before the release of the game. (I don't know much about game development and programming, so if it's more convenient for you to optimize the game at these stages, that would be even better)
I dont like the number of bosses and the circumstances that force you to fight them, in particular the fire tank one. playing votv you can usually avoid injuries or some events if you follow some conditions. for example, not buing kerfur or immediately make kerfur-o so you dont mess up with the cursed yellow one. didnt listen the rozitals and came up to wisp? welp only you an idiot here, dont mess up with this shit. stole stuff from arirals and they killed you with atv? you are the only one to blame here. came to hole when rozitals explored it? your problem. and everything like that in story mode you can avoid. the hell and diffrent events location is initiative events how they should be. the wisps, redman or shadows is scaring, yeah, and its still dont ruining your expiriece. but a freaking fire tank you need to fight or you will stuck with this in your world forever? hell no, there is just no balace and althernative.
Really like everything, but there's a soft-lock w/ the Argemia plush microwave event that has halted my ability to play, as w/ work and the rest of the human condition; I am generally too exhausted every day to start over from square one for the 3rd time this update. Which is quite soul-rending for me as this game was the little shaft of light that would grace the corners of my room, and it's leaving a gash in my heart.
And as with many things in life, I've learned perseverance typically only brings further suffering, so it's just best for me to give up on the game for a while as I fail to persevere through more consequential things than video games.
I just hope sometime down the line there comes a 'cancel event' feature or debug command for problems like this, as it would remove a lot of stress from the process of trying to enjoy the more fun parts of the game.
At risk of sounding too vague I'm going to avoid spoilers with this, but I got really annoyed the last time I played. I got effectively soft-locked by a certain random event, with a certain robot running off and then coming back, shall we say. It was about day 8 for me and I had no means to combat this, and it quickly ended the game I had going. If there are going to be hostile events like this, I think there should be a weapon of some kind, or at least make it so things like this can only happen later on when I can afford several health kits in order to progress. I love this game, but I haven't played since 0.8 came out because of this.
This game is about trial and error and that is what is scary about it. Once you know how the mechanics of the monsters work, it becomes much less scary. You have a couple of options that aren't so bad.
one thing you can do is use the yellow Mailbox mechanic. place all the things that can be put into the inventory and start a new game with the gear you put in the mailbox.
I had a similar problem. I couldn't figure it out so I took all my stuff and threw it in the yellow mailbox out front and tried again while trying to avoid the triggers of that event until I am ready. Maybe it has to do with the number 66.6 and something about the time idk but my second playthrough hasn't had the event?
Small Hinty spoilers, there is a pipe in the vent in the work room that is slightly ajar. You can open by throwing some stuff at it. Just be careful when it drops ;)
The pipe has a slow attack speed, but does more damage.
This is a nitpick on my part because I don't know who else feels the same way but-
[Spoilers for one of the easter eggs]
It'd be nice to be able to keep the briefcase as decoration instead of it going back to it's original spot every time you load in after moving it. Especially since the easter egg that it's needed for isn't even one that you can do in story mode. It's a nice easter egg and I think it's executed well, but I would also love to just have the briefcase as part of room decor instead of it just being naggingly in the bunker 24/7 and having to move it every time I go back in.
I've already posted in here before, but after getting near the end of story mode and exploring as much new material as I can, there's been three big issues and one nitpick [other than the briefcase] that have bugged me immensely that I feel is justifiable to share and critique.
-The terrain update. I enjoy the new hills and bumps of land that make exploring the forest and searching with the metal detector more interesting, however I greatly dislike the amount of collectibles and easter eggs that are no longer accessible because they either go flying from their now glitched spawn points or they get buried under the new map. I feel like, since it was their own choice to update the terrain, there should've been more extensive checking to make sure a good chunk of the most sought after decorations/collectibles were still working and could be found.
-The molotov recipe is nonsensical. I don't understand why you would need to pour out the alcohol and replace it with gasoline when both substances are flammable and can be mixed together and would still work just fine as a weapon. As well, what is the reason for only using paper trash in the recipe and not being able to use crumbled paper from the notepad? That screws over people who already collected all the paper trash and turned it into paper scrap and now have to go metal detecting to look for more.
-The broken electronics in the new generator buildings, for some reason, can't be turned into electronic scrap, nor do they sell for that much. I wouldn't mind them having a low selling price if the option was there to turn it into scrap, but since that's not the case, then them having a low selling price makes no sense. They can be used as decoration pieces of course, and I think that's good and something I was planning to do myself, but I don't see a reason why they can't be used for parts either. It would have more advantages that way.
-This one is the nitpick; having my Kerfur randomly explode at night and having to wait till morning to be able to turn it on without fear of it exploding again isn't exactly fun, personally. Especially since I have my Kerfur at the console station at all times, so if I afk for whatever reason without pausing the game and it's night in-game, and I come back see that I'm back at the menu because I died from the radioactive capsule from my exploded Kerfur- I think it's a valid thing to be a bit irritated by.
This update has many hits, but these small misses are enough for me personally to not have fun with it that much. Especially since there really isn't that much new stuff to do other than kill the boars and wait to get the new signals. I do still love the game of course and am happy that it's being worked on so hard, I just hope these issues get resolved with the next update.
The special Kerfur skins should really just deactivate from the EMP effect rather than break apart like they do now. Hell, them breaking into special parts like the main colors instead of their crafting materials would be great, I don't even bother with actually using the special Kerfur skins for tasks cause anything destroying them can make you easily lose them with no direct way to find it's parts other than blind guesses.
Yo DrNose, please consider removing direct references to cancer. This makes Dr. Kel's coughing and dimmed vision a real buzzkill. Seeing the injection needle made my heart drop. Pretty rough.
You could call it Bao disease or something. Or maybe have an e-mail exchange where the other scientists happily name the disease after Dr. Kel, because Dr. Kel is the only person on Earth who keeps dangerous alien technology in his own house.
Anyway, I'm just one guy, so maybe not enough reason for you to change the item names and descriptions. However, I'm sure there are other people who are discouraged and will just walk away without saying anything. We like the funny aliens that eat skrimps and slip on banana peels. More of those, please.
This is a dark game. It includes elements of radiation, progressive biohazards, existential dread, and potentially, eventual death. It is quite direct and minimal in the depictions of hazards in general. It would be… jank to insert confusing new names for something there’s already a very easily understood shorthand for. So there’s that.
At the same time… Dr. Kel’s symptoms are in actual fact much more consistent with (comically rapid) acute radiation exposure syndrome or even radiation burns, which tend to be the things that kill you at short timescales. It would be rather nice if we could call it that. If he’s taking any medications, they are things like potassium iodide and chelating agents, but most games hand-wave over the details of how radioactive contamination actually works.
For examples of how this is approached with at least diegetic effectiveness: see the Fallout series.
Cancer is the thing you get later if you survive all that, but Dr. Kel is not at the base long enough for such to develop. Unless it’s some kind of weird violently accelerated alien cancer. Then you might as well call it Bao disease for all the help that man will give you, I guess.
It is a dark game. While we're going to dark places, Dr. Kel's in-game experiences are rather consistent with real-world symptoms of longterm carbon monoxide poisoning. Now that I think about it, there's some good evidence that Dr. Kel is hallucinating every alien encounter due to inhaling some sort of local poison. But I enjoy speculating about these things; the ambiguity is fun, because we get to interpret for ourselves what's actually happening.
Anyway, no big deal. DrNose builds his game however he wants to and I like that. This is just my personal response to 0.8.0, so I hope the feedback is helpful. Others in this forum seem fine with the sudden addition of a terminal cancer mechanic. However this specific thing is a hard-pass stopping point for me. I must exit the wild ride.
The build is pretty solid! The only, single, thing that made me go nuts is the [THREAT], need to be reworked, it's too strong, being stunned by the molotov it's not enough... The windows of time where it's stunned it's too much little, it's kinda soft lock the game and disrupt the natural flow of things.. nose pls
The base radar is much too intolerant of sporadic contact loss. I have to toggle the alarm off with snd.radar_alarm
to stop it yelling constantly after a certain point in story mode. Filtering by entity type has no effect on which types of entity trigger the alarm; it only affects which ones are visually displayed on the radar map.
The radar seems to “lose sight” of certain contacts/entities for a single sweep and then reacquire the same ones again on the very next sweep. Every single time this happens, it triggers an alarm as though it’s a new entity. At the maximum radar sweep speed from base upgrades, which is something like 2-3 Hz, my radar log is filled with the entity count going down and up by exactly one every few seconds at all times. If only the radar would persist lost entities for just a sweep or two before discarding them, it could stop doing that entirely and the radar alarm could be infinitely more useful.
It’s profoundly annoying.
I feel like the next update should have optamization, before 0.8 (any update before 0.8 including 0.7) I could run all my graphics settings on max and still have 100 to 120 frames and even when it gets lower it never drops below 60, but now in 0.8 I have to use default settings or lower on some others with volumetric settings off and it's only 60 to 90 at the start of the game but further at the game it would drop to 30 to 50
starting around day 45, game performance really starts to tank. i had to reduce screen resolution to 60% and even then, any time i encounter the enemies that spawn during that part of the game, the framerate turns into a slideshow. i have a decent laptop, it's not like i'm running the game on a 15 year old potato, but man it's really bad.
in 0.7, i had no problem running the game at max settings for the entire duration of storymode, with all kinds of 3D printed models and high-res paintings. now i don't get to use much customized content because having too much of it makes the game unplayable.
Would be cool if you could sort the cameras in the computer. It would make navigating the cameras a lot easier. Maybe there could be a arrow (where my arrows pointing at) that you could hold, and then drag and drop where the camera is, or maybe a button to sort by alphabetical order. Like if you agree
I started playing this for the first time a while ago, and so far, I'm loving it! The gameplay loop is really fun when you finally understand it and you never know when the creepy stuff will happen and I'm in love with that concept. I've been playing for 10 hours so I'm far from finishing the story but damn I'm having fun! I would absolutely donate if I could. As for bugs, I haven't seen any that I remember. The only odd thing that happened to me is that Kerfur ran out of battery in a random spot in the north, and then I got out of the game. When I came back, Kerfur was in front of my base, somehow. I don't know if that's a bug or if that's on purpose but I ain't complaining! Anyhow. Thanks for making this game :).
Honestly, after the update with the new base, I feel like the game has lost some of its atmosphere. The base used to be quite compact, which really helped focus on the main essence of the game—searching for signals and all those creepy events.
Now the base is huge, and it takes a lot of time just to get to different points in the base, not to mention all the cleaning. This doesn't add to the gameplay; it just makes the game more tedious. I end up spending a lot of time on routine tasks, turning everything into a never-ending cycle of monotonous actions. Instead of focusing on development and the horror aspect, the game forces me to waste time on pointless runs around the station.
I really like this game and I will definitely follow it further and support its development.
I really do like this game and I wanted to give it a go myself after watching Vinesauce Joel play it, but this latest version is really hard for beginner player.
There is simply too much things to take care of: cleaning the base, sleep, food, daily tasks, transformers etc. The forest is hard to navigate during night time and capturing signals is really challenging even after watching tutorials. Of course this all could be on me for being beginner, but maybe different difficulty levels would give something for both beginners and exprienced players.
The game's atmoshphere is fantastic and what I've seen of the secrets and events, this game really is great. Can't wait to see the full finished release!
I really like this build and the game is fun but I do have a few nitpicks
Not a fan of all the crashing entities, yes I get the point but seeing them on day 2 when I'm just trying to clean the base is quite annoying especially since it takes so long to clean the place and they're rather pointless when you can save quit and keep going anyway.
Please fix Kerfus's pathfinding they tend to get stuck in a loop when gathering reports from one of the satellites
Make a entity that interacts with the trash/garbage/scrap objects and can be friendly if we give him trash etc.
Like a monster that likes trash and all that (The trash monster would be a cool name)
Also maybe adding some things that can camp to the satellite to spook you or somethings (Like a tiny jumpscares when going to go repair a server in a satellite)
And a option so we can go into the backpack inventory when it's equipped and collect items to put into the backpack directly in it and not unequip the backpack, collect the item and store it in the backpack and re-equip the backpack.
Also want to say, the game is crazy good and super fun to play (And spooky too), i hope you will continue to update the game etc
Cool concept but overall it was an exercise in frustration. I stopped playing on the morning of the 2nd day (Tuesday), but after all the janky stuff and bugs the game was just too aggravating.
For one, the tutorial needs a bit of work, took me over an hour to figure out how to get the signal to download as the instructions don't tell you what you need to do. It tells you how to adjust the polarity and the frequency but not what I'm suppose to adjust it to. I eventually realized that you needed to get the input on both to %100. A simple line explaining that would have saved me an hour of frustration. In the story mode the polarity and the frequency keep changing even though the adjustments were set to 0, so I simply couldn't maintain a signal long enough to download, effectively soft-locking me from making progress, and this was my first attempt to get a signal at all. Not sure if this intentional, but I had no idea how to fix it, but at this point I had given up trying to play the game.
2nd, I found the controls to be overly complicated and very unintuitive and once out of the the tutorial and into the main game there didn't seem to be a reference for the more complex button combinations. I also found the inventory system to be very cumbersome.
3rd, I guess there is some kind of event where this Black Square shows up in the sky and starts killing you and there doesn't appear to be anything I can do about it other than try and stay out of line of site, which made it impossible to complete the satellite hash number tasks. This is clearly a scripted event because it kept happening around the same time every time I reloaded, but there's no warning for it and I have no idea how to stop it or fix it. Considering this happens the 2nd day, before I've had a chance to really figure anything out it, it's extremely rough and honestly killed the game for me. Maybe don't start with the Black Square of Death on the 2nd day? Like, warm me up first and let me get my head around the basics before throwing the End Times at me.
I like the concept of the game and the art style. All the weird object interactions are really neat and interesting too, but the issues really stopped me from enjoying most of it. I look forward to full release, assuming all the problems get smoothed out.
This became my favourite game, genuinely a 10/10 for a good few weeks until I reached the combat. They're an absolute slog to deal with, even just the zombiefur, and completely break the flow of the game. The mere knowledge that if I kept playing I would have to fight MORE was dreadful enough that I quit the game and uninstalled, completely deflated. Encountering the Arirals and fighting to befriend them while they bully the shit out of me was incredibly fun, and hiding from the wisps was terrifying. Fighting sucks, and prepping to fight feels like I'm being forced away from the actual progression systems in order to do state-mandated busywork or I'll get hard-stuck when an enemy rolls around.
Like I said, this game completely enraptured me for weeks. It was my favourite. I can't decide what this game is supposed to be, but if I would want it to be more of everything non-combat related. I don't think it's necessary to create tension, because it doesn't. It's just frustrating. I'm sorry. This game broke my heart and I'm not happy about it :(
I think you should update your trailer, I know the game is in pre-alpha but still..., because when I want to show this incredible game to my friends, I simply don't have material to show, and Im not going to show them the first trailer because it no longer makes sense to show it, because many things have changed
Thoughts on the 0.8 Build
Overall Vibes:
The game’s pretty solid, and I’m liking the direction it’s heading. There are a few stability issues here and there, but overall, it’s fun to play.
Unfinished Events:
Some events feel incomplete, which is kind of a 'meh' when you get into them. Would be nice if stuff like this was either finished or never added in the first place.
Pointless Items:
Some items don’t seem to have any purpose right now, or barely. I wish I knew which ones before I wasted time on them. I get it, it's a pre-Alpha
Crafting Woes:
Crafting feels way too complicated, with barely any blueprints or things you can actually make, even though you’re surrounded by “ingredients” everywhere. It just ends up feeling limited.
Snow Mode:
Loving the snow mode! Especially the frozen rivers.
Emergency Save: ( --Repeated as suggestion )
The game could really use an emergency save option. I’ve had two times now where my save got messed up, I lost a super valuable item to a bug, and another time a THICC command just wiped everything. A backup save would be awesome.
Cave System:
The caves need a total rework. Exploring them doesn’t feel rewarding, and it’s frustrating. Sometimes you just drop down and chill, and other times you’re forced to waste stamina climbing long vertical walls. Falling out of bounds is a pain too. I know it’s new, and it’s a pre-alpha, but it’s one area that could really improve the experience.
Unfinished Zones:
Some areas, like the "lake [REDACTED]" and those purple cave THINGS, look super cool, but they’re unfinished. You go through all this effort to explore (more like prepare yourself and gather what you think it'll be useful ) and get hyped, only to be slapped with a “not done yet.” ( or worse...you find out by asking on discord after wasting a whole morning...)
Focus on Complete Features:
I feel like it’d be better to add complete features instead of tossing in bits and pieces. Unfinished areas just kinda break the flow. A "Coming soon" option could maybe be useful? Maybe a mode? Something that allows you to show us upcoming features
Performance Issues:
Running on a 4070S, and I’m only hitting an average of 40 FPS, which feels weird for a setup like this. Some performance tweaks would help.
Long Events & Sleep Mechanics:
It’d be nice if long events worked better with the sleep mechanic. Right now, juggling both feels more annoying than challenging. Especially if you're high on food and you cannot eat but your sleep is at 0 and due the event you cannot sleep
Suggestions
Multiplayer Mode:
Adding multiplayer could be awesome. A bigger (x2) map with two bases, or just one shared base on the regular map, where you can team up and share points.
Controller & Steam Deck Support:
Support for controllers and the Steam Deck would be great for people playing on different devices.
Multiple Save Slots:
Multiple save slots would be a lifesaver. That way, you can roll back if something goes wrong instead of losing all your progress.
Seasons:
Adding seasons could make things way more interesting and add some nice variety throughout the year.
