Liked the mechanic of how you did it here including the luck and other factors, using bait and more. The visuals are gorgeous, very nice job on the game!

really sweet graphics, and really great implementation of the concept of fishing. My only complaint is that the game sorta froze up when I switched to fullscreen, and like, scrolled down to see the controls. But on restart it was fine. But then, I had a fish on the line, and that got interrupted by the shop transition screen. it just came outta nowhere. and because I was reeling the fish in, and pressing spacebar a lot, I skipped right past the shop screen and didn't get to buy anything. So, you really should make it so people can't skip the shop even before they realize it's shopping time. So, just some tidying up is needed. the water looks so good, and the fish look so neat... I was really into it.  Oh, .. I also have no idea how to use the items in my inventory

Everything you mentioned happens to be my biggest dissapointments about the project! Unfortunately I had to upload with those flaws since I started quite late and did not have time. Will fix them once the jam is concluded though! Also, you can drag items to your view and it says how you can use it.

On my second game, though, I got just shy of 800$, and discovered one more bug. which is, in the shop menu, if you drag items to the left and let them go, they duplicate, hehe. eeee zzz infinite money glitch achievement! anyway, luck runs out too quickly IMO. might I suggest, when you do your fixing up, have the luck run out more slowly the less you have. So, going from 40 to 30 luck happens within like, 30 seconds, but going from 10 to 0 takes a couple of minutes. Great jam entry. Sometimes the time limit screws things up, but, IMO the best part of the jam aside from the exposure is like.. demonstrating to one's self what  you can make in only a few days

Good catch! I will check that out. And yes the luck drains very fast and It's gone until you got a fish. I'm thinking of a separate timer that will hold it at the same value for like 10-20 seconds and then start to drain so you can use it on your first catch. So you cant sustain it more easily by resetting the timer but if you don't think about it it drains pretty quickly. Also I didn't get to implement it but I really wanted a stone skipping mini-game like yours! You buy them from a shop for a good amount of money then skip it to gain luck. I was thinking a rythym game-like mechanic and better you do more luck it gives. Will probably add that too. Will check out your game once I have the time.

The music and art were such a perfect match. I missed a few casts because I was enjoying the scenery and not watching my bobber. Incredible work with this! The water ripple effect and reflection was gorgeous, and the way the music transitioned to an upbeat song when you hooked a fish was lovely. Adding the tension mechanic to the actual fishing line, instead of a UI element, was really, really clever, I liked it a lot.  I did get confused by the line of sight mechanic at first because I tried to play without reading the itch page though. Everything else was really intuitive, and even that I figured out after losing the first few fish and realizing I could move the camera. Very impressive work!

Wow! Thank for this in-depth review. It's always a great feeling when little details you wasted time on gets noticed and appreciated. Glad you enjoyed it.

Very relaxing. One of my favourite things to do in farming games is to fish, love that I can do that here.

Loved it :) Everything fits so well and flows really nicely and it feels so polished! I could see myself buying this game on steam to relax to. One thing I would add is a sound indicator when you catch a fish, other than that this is literally perfect.

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! Yeah the marker is not easy to see when it's very far away so maybe a little sound + a pole animation would solve that problem. Thank you for the suggestion

Damn I was stunned by the visuals, the little "bloop" of the water rippling when the washing line comes in! But I can see a screenshot of a shop but even though I had like $300 of value I couldn't see the shop button anywhere to purchase more items, not sure if it's a bug or not, but stunning game feels incredibly polished!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! You get to the shop screen at the end of the day which lasts 5 mins.

Epic game. I had a small bug after drinking a cold one the text wouldn't go away, but that didn't even compare to how epic the graphics and sound design were. great job

cozy fishing game, with this art style makes me think of some little narrative in between days perhaps kinda like visual novel style ... dont think I have seen a visual novel centered on fishing

Developer

Makes so much sense. Maybe I could add in some narrative in the future!

Great art and sound! very relaxing and cozy!

I couldn't get to open the shop, is there any button I can press or is that an "end of day" type of event? I was out of items to use early in the afternoon (I noticed it gets darker over time, great touch!)

Developer

Thank you! No currently you can finish the day manually :(

Love the calming atmosphere, and the water shaders are amazing!!

Really enjoyable to catch the close fish. Getting the big fish was a lot tougher and I couldn't get the knack for it sadly. Tried to follow them with the boat so the tension wouldn't be too great, but still never was able to catch em before they broke the line.

Really great game with a lot of polish. Only other thing I wished for was a sound of crackin' open a cold one when you used it from the inventory :)

Great work!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! Maybe my fault for not explaining it to well but you simply release the tension by releasing the space button, and you press it again. Will update the description for that. Also I'm just as disappointed about no beer sound because I did not have to time :(. Will add it though!
