Super cool design and I love the ghost feature. I loved the art and audio. It definitely left room for deck-building elements if you wanted to go that route. Here's a link to my playthrough... https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1671607757?t=01h42m55s
I loved watching this, thank you! It was super interesting to see how information is decoded/digested on first play: and there's probably too much going on for a 20 second game. There's definitely a larger (and likely better) version of this that doesn't include the timer.
I enjoyed playing this a lot. It took me several goes to feel comfortable with and a few more to be able to win. The challenge is still there so it is a definitely game that rewards multiple plays.
The graphics and audio combine really well to create a superb atmosphere. I think I would be happy to spend extended periods in this little universe you've created. I would like to know more about it.
Thanks! I may pick your brain on how quickly you were able to decode what was going on. I tried to constrain the gameplay so it wasn't complex, but it still feels like it might be a big ask for 20 seconds.
Great game! I second the idea of making it into a bigger(longer) game without any time limit. I like the atmosphere and the graphics much. The hardest part for me was to figure out when i go left or right. I needed many tries to actually see the difference of the footprints regarding that. Still: Very well done!
Thanks for the feedback, lupercalia! I agree 100% with your left/right footprints: I am no artist. I wound up sorting cards (as a compromise) by left/right value to try and put "left" cards on the left side of the screen, etc.
Waow, I wanted to test your game since the first video you made of it on the discord ! The mechanics is clever though 20s to choose all your actions is a bit short ^^’. I love the art style and the sound effects, it is a really nice game.
I'm honestly not sure. I have I-developed-this syndrome for this game: I can always get 2 or 3. For a player that is decoding the information for the first time, I could see them with no-wins for a couple of tries. Beyond that, I put in some different scoring bonuses to encourage additional replays - but I think that will only land with folks who like the core mechanic and want to make it more difficult.
This has a really interesting concept! At first I thought that the timer was restrictive, but it adds some good tension to the game and keeps the player from overthinking.
It would be really cool to see a local multiplayer version of this (although I realize that would require significant changes to the game)
Thanks for playing! I had similar thoughts regarding the timer. :)
Turn-based multiplayer is definitely on my radar. I have prototyped the basic elements of it: a game server and a simple client that can talk to that server platform. My only hesitation right now is the whole player base issue for multiplayer games: they're just not fun (or sometimes even playable) without other people.
If that's something you're still interested in (and the command line does not scare you), you can download one of the compiled versions and add `--no_timer` as an argument.
I really like the concept of this game and it has a lot of potential, but I had some issues with attacks appearing to connect but ending in a draw anyway.
If a card has a move value and an attack value, the move is resolved first, then the attack. A move 1, attack 1 first moves the player to the new tile then attacks an adjacent tile to the player's new tile. The animations, however, occur simultaneously: this can be potentially confusing.
Hey Xed! This is pretty cool. I like the idea of planning steps and actions before playing them all out. The rules are pretty clear as well. The ghost mechanic adds plenty to the experience. A suggestion I would offer is to allow players to remove card(s) from selection. Overall it has great potential and it could also be a mobile game. I wonder whether it could be made into a two player game - that might also contribute towards replayability. Nice work, and good luck!
Hi PikonParadox. Thank you for playing! (there are only hundreds of other submissions... yikes.)
I think an 'undo' mechanic has value - I'd need to rework the enemy and give them a proper AI to do this correctly: they don't respond to your actions today, they play a predetermined series of cards no matter what the player does. So without an AI rework, offering an undo gives the player insight into the next play of their opponent - which could be exploited. :|

Awesome, that's why we do it! I'd love to play the next build and your other games... Keep me in mind!

Sure, any time!

Thanks for playing! I'm going to need to go back and make a 'big' version of this at some point where you doing have to deal with the timer. ;)
I love the concept. The time limit adds tension to the gameplay, there is suspense. Another great production from XedIndustrie ! I want more !!!
Thanks! I'm glad you had fun. :)
I just love the art style in this. It’s so well done. The game play is great too. How many times can you realistically win in the 20s?

Ok, then I don’t feel so terrible :)
Very interesting concept. Graphics and sounds are very good.
Thanks for playing! Appreciate the feedback.

Really liked it! Would love to see an "Endless" game mode without the timer.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it.

For example, on Windows:
