nice game for me, though i wish there was a checkpoint system
There are some, but I know, there are not enough on level 1.
I’ll add some once the evaluation phase ends.
Thank you for your feedback.
Jump - A little bit fast for me.
Climb - Pretty solid, no change required.
Camera - Would be helpful if I can see in front of me better. For example, there's a section where I need to jump down but I can't see the platform that I need to land on.
Enemy (Boxing gloves) - Too fast for me. There's a section where I need to spam my jump button to avoid the double 'fist'.
GUI - Clean and great design. The host dialogue box kinda in a way of the game view.
Character and overall arts - Great.
Overall good stuff and potential winner.
Thanks!
Can’t disagree with anything you said.
The Jump and Gloves are part of the design though, but the rest could have been improved.
I really like this game!
I wasn't able to get to the end, quitting after accidently starting at the beginning one too many times, but dang did I want to! Love the tough as nails platforming.
I would suggest placing checkpoints more frequently. While its satisfying to overcome a platforming challenge, it can be disheartening to have to beat the same 3 because you keep failing on the 4th. That being said I felt pretty motivated to give it one more try.
Another suggestion, and this may come down to how troll-y you want the game to be, but I would set the boxing gloves to continuously fire at a set rate, instead of only firing when your character is in range. This way you can be aware that the gloves are coming and see the pattern before making an attempt at avoiding them. I don't like being thrown off the platform by an unexpected glove, or getting tripped up cuz the range calculation decided to throw 2 gloves at once. But again, perhaps this tolling is the point. Either way, I personally prefer hard but fair platforming.
Really excellent entry, the intro panning and commentator is a very nice bit of polish as well!
Thank you for your comment.
I might add checkpoints on the first level, you’re right.
As for the boxing gloves, it changes a lot the spirit of the game if they shoot at a set rate, and that’s not the same game. The triggering of the gloves is a big part of the design.
Happy you liked it!
I liked the live transmission and dialog a lot! The gameplay is awesome too. Great work!
Thanks a lot!
We’re so glad you liked it.
Great Game! The art is well polished and I like the sound. my problem is that the movement fills to slow and weird. For example, jumping from one wall to another just doesn't work sometimes.Apart from that great game!
Thank you for your feedback.
I’d love to see examples of wall jump malfunction as I haven’t been able to experience it myself.
If this can help: you can only wall jump when you’re against a wall and in a descending phase (which triggers the “sticked to the wall” animation) which normally helps getting the good timing.
Oh ok I didn't know that! Will play again.
Great game!!! a well polished submission if I may say. I only had a problem with the dialogue screen at the bottom, it somewhat ate up some area to see the obstacle at the bottom. but all in all it is a superb game.
from one Godot engine developer to another, Cheers!!!
Thanks for your feedback.
Yes, the text area is sadly too big for some of the action. Next time, it will be better :)
I loved the graphics in this one - very pleasant to look at. I loved how smooth the controls felt too, especially with wall jumping, the only problem being that jumping was sometimes a bit difficult to control mid-air. Really liked it, though!
Thank you for your feedback.
We implemented inertia on the character as it felt more natural but it’s kind of a challenge to master it, and once you’re mid-air, you’ve got less margin of error.
Nice game. I like it. Overall good experience
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
This game is really, really, really tough. That's absolutely not a bad thing, because it's tough by design and not because of flaws in the platforming. Once you get over the inevitable sliding-about that comes with starting a new game, jumps are highly consistent and predictable and the walljumping mechanic is really smooth and works every single time - no annoying bugs where you get stuck or can't jump like you had intended.
The art style is brilliant and there's plenty of eye candy to take in. Well done to both the team members on a robust and, most importantly, fun to play entry!
Thank you.
Happy you liked it!
I enjoyed playing this game a lot. The controls felt a bit slippery at first but I think I got there in the end! Well presented and nice animations.
Thank you for your feedback.
We used friction for the movements (which is different on the floor, on the walls or in the air), it felt more natural, but, that’s true, a little bit more difficult to master.
Really liked your game. The art style is exciting and the gameplay is fun!
Thank you very much!
I like the game, as it is tough, but it's one of those "deal with it" tough games. I mean, the mechanics are straightforward (I love how smooth the wall jumping is) and - more importantly - are consistent. The game doesn't lie to you about difficulty, it is what it is and you know what to expect from it. You have to adapt to it and then reap the rewards of your hard work.
Great job, double kudos for little Cthulhu looking real cute 🐙
Thanks!
Didn't manage to beat the game, but i really like the art and the character design! Narrator talking nonsense the whole time is a nice touch.
The gameplay is really hard but it was fun to try again until reach the finish. Boxing gloves that come out of nowhere is frustrating, and the balloon trampoline thingy can be hard to see where the player is going to land.
Other than that, Good job! it's one of my favorites :)
Thank you.
I agree for the red big balls, it’s hard to see with the text box.
I tried a lot of things and none were better…
If I find something to ameliorate the experience, I will do it.
Great art and humor! The text box being always present made some parts a little hard to see. You could try making it only appear when there is actual text being said. The wall jumping aspect of the game was the strongest part so i would put more focus on that than the jumping over gaps part, but overall had a fun time!
Thank you for the suggestion. As there’s only few moments without text, we didn’t try that, but I’ll definitely give it a try!
Happy you enjoyed it!
Amazing art, amazing animation, amazing commentator, amazing work!
I liked how responsive was the movement, and how bright yet readable were the sprites and the background.
Sometimes it's hard to see the platforms behind the textbox, so it made me miss some jumps. I'd suggest moving the text window to the top, but you've probably already thought of that and decided against it.
Thanks for your comment. The answer is yes, we thought about it, but it just made another problem: you can’t see where you’re jumping to, and that was a bigger one. Yesterday we thought about making it smaller in height, but couldn’t manage to do it by the end of the game, so left it that way.
Nice game, the art is great and the game is fun, I wish the text box was just a little smaller as it did sometimes blocked the view of what I was falling onto but overall really great job.
Really awesome job. I had lot of fun and didn't run into any issues. The punches that come at you were so annoying but it provided a major challenge!
This is great, I loved playing it, the punches are a tough obstacle! Wipeout was one of our first ideas, but we went for a different thing in the end., also with aliens :)
