Hey mate. Some feedback:

- Firstly, yeah we indeed used kind of a similar idea, so that's cool!

- I wish there'd checkpoints on the game.

- Once I did not die when I get to 0 HP and that made me rather confused.

- I know that it's possible to "trace" the position of the enemies, but I wish they would appear a bit even when I'm not using the opposite color of them. Additionally, I wish I'd get some kind of indicator on where the keys are at.

- Furthermore, I wish I'd get some kind of feedback when the enemies died. Maybe some particles or screen shake could be nice?

- Lastly, on the WebGL version, I had two cursors sometimes.

I beat the game anyway:

Fun but hard game

The music is really nice and chill. I just had real troubles with the darkness of the game. A cool concept, a solid art ground, a great game!

Good game. The key system for level is also unique.

But, I faced a bug in level 3:

Developer

Oh wow, were you able to get out of it? That's too bad, that one's on me for sure, with the weird way that I tiled the game. This was my first experience with that, but I will know to be better about it in the future.

Hope you enjoyed the game, regardless. Thanks for taking the time to review it.

wow the graphics are insane. The sounds too they fit so well together. I also enjoy the mechanic that there is two different "sides" to the shooting. idk if that made any sense what I just said but overall I enjoy the game!

Great take on the theme! The graphics and audio are very good, too! While I'd prefer left click/right click for the two types of bullets, I do agree that the positioning mechanic makes for very interesting gameplay! I also liked how the enemies could only be seen via bullets.

However the only problem I have with the game is the movement feels a bit too slippery for a game involving tons of bullets. While I understand that the intent is to be fairly difficult (which was done sucessfully, might I add) the slipperiness of the controls makes it a little too much.

Other than that and the title screen making my eyes hurt, the game overall is really great! Definitely would be great start to a full game.

Yeah, we both agreed that it was hard and that was the intent. Something did feel slightly off, though, and that might have been it. We tried to fine tune a lot, but movement was low priority among the many other things we were learning. This is good feedback for whatever we each do next!

I personally really loved the title screen, but that's good to know. I wonder how others feel. We could certainly have taken the saturation down a bit.

Thanks for taking the time to write this, it means a lot.

Excellent approach of the theme, I really like the core gameplay idea to make placement the most important thing to do. My only criticism would be about the shooting feeling, thought it felt weird to "hold" a bullet, I guess I would have liked something more dynamic, as I ended to just spam click in the direction of the ennemies to destroy them.

Overall a solid entry, which I enjoyed testing, you guys did a good job :)

Developer(+1)

The original intent was to make holding the bullet a mechanic which would grow the size of the projectile, and therefore the area that you could see. We didn't get to that feature, unfortunately.

Thanks so much for playing the game, and thanks for the review.

Ok I understand the process behind it better, thanks :)

Beautiful graphics that go well with the sound.

Matches the theme. Enjoyable!

If you want you can also rate our game.  Hope you will enjoy it!

It would be cool if left click was light bullets, and right click were the dark bullets. I like this concept! I will play more of this later and see if I can make it to the end!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! We actually tried this, and it felt good, but we felt like it would make for pretty interesting level design to force the player to position themselves around the enemies.

We didn't get as many levels in as we wanted to, so maybe this concept didn't shine as well.

Thanks again! :)

Interesting, I like the thought behind that decision for sure! Once I play it through fully, I am sure I will understand this, don't worry!

EDIT:

Just finished playing it! I broke the map...

Super fun now that I understand that shooting from different sides influences what type of bullets are shot. Super fun! Pretty tough, too!

Feedback:

-sometimes the same enemy would have a different number of life points. Sometimes two, sometimes 4. Something to look into.

-One of the enemies that hits you deals two hearts of damage. Not sure if intentional or not. Great game, cool idea for sure!

Enjoyed this game! My game also uses the theme of two sides as dark and light,  great game!
