Wow, a very polished entry ! i have to admit i couldn't finish it, but it's very solid, no bug, good level design, a good idea and a good use of the theme, well done ♥

Very solid entry, the game looks amazing, the amount of content is great, and the gameplay is very polished. I don't really get why you used those bindongs tho, I just couldn't get use to use JKL x)

Anyway excellent entry, one of the best of the jam for sure!

Hey mate. Some feedback:

- Firstly, wow your game looks amazing. ( I'm biased because I liked limited palettes but okay )

- Please let me use WASD, SPACE and the mouse too.

- It was kind of confusing at first as I did not understand why I couldn't go to the other dimension.

- The buttons were kind of hard to see at first. Furthermore, having to shoot at the "Box" on top of the button on level 4 was also unintuitive.

- I don't feel like making the player randomly have one health ( talking about levels Adaptive Flipability, Use that Spiked Helme, Drop the Bass ) was a good idea.

- On level "Drop the Bass", I found the fact that enemies will enter the box if you don't time the switch correctly.

- I wish the game itself would have music.

Overall a good game but a bit unintuitive at times:

Thanks for the very in-depth review! I'll go over each point one by one.

  • Thanks! I've been trying to do more limited palette games!
  • WASD is already supported, but I'll add Space for jumping if I do get around to making an update.
  • That's definitely one of the biggest flaws of the game I think. If I update I'll probably completely remake that part by showing you why you can't flip in a much better way.
  • That's a really big problem and I'm unsure how to solve it due to the limited palette. I'd love to take suggestions though!
  • That's perfectly fair! I was trying to make sure the enemies would be threatening enough, but I guess it didn't work out!
  • That wasn't intentional, but it made the level really interesting, so I kept it in and made the final level around that concept.
  • My composer ran into a lot of trouble unfortunately, so we could only get the main theme done.

I'm glad you had fun with it, even with my absolutely horrid level design!

Great game! the artwork is really impressive! This mono color pallete really do make it seem like two totally different dimensions alltogether!

I would consider to make the controls a more intuitive. Such as using spacebar or even W to jump. Also, in some stages, the boxes that press the buttons would get stuck when swapping dimensions. Since we don't have a way to pull them, they get cornered into the walls, The only way to fix it is resetting the whole stage which can be a little frustrating.

at one time, I swapped dimensions and the box overlapped with the red dimension and got destroyed. That's great that you implemented that, great detail to attention, but then I realized I destroyed the box... forever. A box respawn would be great to fix all those issues without resetting the stage!!

Other than that, I had a really good time playing it!

Developer

Thanks for the review! I was actually considering making a checkpoint system to solve that issue, but a box respawn might also be really interesting. I'll also try to do more intuitive controls when I do update!

Unique game. But the controls killed me. You can have space as a jump. I got confused and kept pressing c or x instead of z.

Developer (1 edit)

That's fair. I'd have added it in but I was too focused on getting the other parts of the game done in time for the jam submission. I'll add it if I update. Thanks for the review!

The art style is absolutely beautiful and the gameplay is easy to understand despite being an intricate premise - really wonderful work bringing this all together!

Love the game! The art style is just fantastic! A very good approach to the theme!

The controls are a bit hard to get it first! But after that, is a very good experience! Congratulations! Good Job!

I loved the art in this game. Controls were a bit strange, but after that fact, I really enjoyed it. Nice Job!

Love this game! Very cool concept! Amazing job! One thing that felt off though was the controls..... Like having j for jump felt weird. And shooting with k rather than left mouse also felt weird. But Great job in general!

If you want feel free to rate my game... :)

Thanks for the review! Don't worry, I just did!

The game is amazing. The fact that this was made in 72hours is amazing. You could release it right now and nobody would know it was made in a jam. The only downside is the audio, i felt it was... not the best. Theme? Visuals? 5/5. Gameplay 4/5, rough in few places.

Amazing game, EquippedHats!

Developer

Thanks for the review! Audio is always something I struggle with a lot, but I'm glad to see you still had fun with it!

I love the visuals and the idea, but some of the level design was kind of whack. Basically the idea of having to restart the level after moving a piece the wrong way.

Developer

Thanks for the review! I do feel like I should've added a checkpoint system so you could reset and be back immediately at where you messed up instead of starting again, so that's something to keep in mind if I update this.

Very polished art, good movement and gameplay. Reminds me of a Kirby style aesthetic. Could do with more music and less sharp sound effects, but overall great. Sometimes the reason for switching sides felt a little lost/not well incorporated, but other than that really good.

Whoa you made this in 3 days awesome, i really like the art style obviously, the sound effects are adorable,  the movements feel smooth, but the controls i understand that you are going for a retro style but its sorta hard to do certain actions but still Awesome Game =D
