It’s awesome you were able to tell a neat and rounded out story in such a short game! Well done! I did hit some bugs with the snake as others did but thats par for the course in a game jam. I’d love to see the puzzles and challenges developed more if the devs are interested in continuing work.
If I had to sum up the game in a word it would be complete. The audio, visuals, puzzles, and story all thematically complement each other as pieces of a greater whole. Thank you bodhisattva.
Okay, now I die over and over again to be the new thing. Great game! Love how you need to die over and over again to solve puzzles.
The game feel and juice on this one is crazy impressive! There were a few bugs with bouncing boxes in some levels (when dropped onto another box) and especially with the Snake (spawning and despawning), but the overall quest was made so well. My only complaint for design is that the chicken and snake interplay was great, but devolved to chicken only exists to make snake longer in later levels (there also wasn’t any mechanical interplay between the other forms, but that I don’t think it’s necessary). None of that was a major detractor though, and it was overall a fantastic game!
This is really impressive. The music, environments, and gameplay all hang together very well.
The integration of death as a constructive game mechanic rather than a punitive consequence gave me a little hit of dopamine. Impressive work!
Incredible job on this! Love the themes and ideas behind the story and how well incorporated it is in the aesthetic and game play. From the visuals to the music, the vibe is killin, and the levels are fun to play and solve. I love the different modes and the mechanic to pass time. Amazing work!
Wow this game has unique puzzle mechanics and the way the story was presented kept me playing through to the end. The whole game has a very strong peaceful vibe even though it's about dying, glad I played it. One of my favorite parts is how the snake has to eat the chicken's egg, awesome and unique synergy there. The amount of thought put into the game concept and execution is really impressive, topped off with beautiful pixel art, soothing animation, and relaxing atmospheric music.
The gameplay is implemented flawlessly into the story, and the art and sound both matched the contemplative tone of the narrative perfectly. I also loved that the snake had traditional Snake gameplay. What a brilliant way to tackle 'Mode'. Great work!
What a visually beautiful game! I love how the story was integrated into the mechanics, and how each form had a meaningful gameplay feature that made them necessary to solve the puzzles! The whole reincarnation structure of the game was also really unique, and was a great application of the theme. The only bug I ran into was that sometimes the snake wouldn't die in the spikes unless I moved it around a bit in the pit, but that's pretty minor and never game-breaking. I'd love to see more from this game. I think you did a great job!
Loved it - such a peaceful, thoughtful puzzle game. Easily the most unexpected game of the jam for me. Fantastic visuals and storytelling, too. Instant follow.
EDIT 2: Figured out how to make time pass without freezing the game (just gotta press it for a second then stop and wait press it for a second stop and wait, etc) but the bug that got me stuck on the tree happened again. On my 8th attempt I'm just done trying. lol Would love to try this when these game breaking bugs are updated. Also I don't know if anyone else mentioned it because it's super subtle but the outlines melding together when two objects get close to soften the shapes is such a smooth and nice touch. bueno
EDIT: Restarted my computer (didn't help) but if I pass time a smidge at a time I'm able to pass the level. Thought restarting my computer helped but I passed time to make a tree go a few levels later and it froze and crashed again. Trying again. lol
Super annoyed I can't play this game. For whatever reason when I "let time pass" the game just lags out and won't let me continue. Lots of raving reviews and here I am bugged out. /sigh
Also when I press up to climb a tree if I'm also still holding left/right arrow it bugs out and keeps me at the bottom of the tree with the walking animation but I cannot move.
I can't really fairly rate it but the presentation looks awesome and the concept really caught my eye! Best of luck to you.
Thanks for finding these bugs! I can't edit the game right now, but I will definitely update it later.
This is a great game and it takes the concept of the game and melds it flawlessly into the story.
pure bliss
Artstyle and music was amazing great job for that ! When i tried to climb the first tree it was bugged and kept on going back and forward with walk and climb animation , i pressed c when game started so it might have bugged the game out take a look.
Love, love, loved this game! Love the music, love the story, and how the game progresses. I love that the tutorial doesn't specifically tell you to jump on the spikes and kill yourself, you just have to try it haha
Wow what a wonderful and charming puzzle platformer! Loved all the different creature abilities - the snake movement especially was a highlight!
Awesome work!
Thank you all for your hard work on Samsara! It's seriously inspiring. The resurrection mechanic was a great twist on the kill-yourself-to-proceed platformer trope. The puzzles were super fun, and clearly a lot of thought and care went into putting them together. I especially loved the artwork: everything was so expressive. I would love to learn about how your team made the clouds and trees shift around so gently despite their low resolution. The meditation visuals were also brilliant. The understated delivery of a monk's journey to enlightenment was excellent too. I'm so excited to see what you're all working on in the future!
Awesome puzzle platformer! The resurrection mechanic is so cool.
I really liked the implementation of the music, audio, and the art style, I think they were implemented really well. The story is pretty interesting as well. I liked how each life has different mechanics to interact with
I loved the meditative vibe of this game, perfect for a winter afternoon with a cup of tea. Just tough enough to keep me guessing, but never got hard stuck. Great work!
Wonderful game. I love the meditation feature. The art is gorgeous too. Great job!
