How does your game represent Mode?
Probably only just getting away with it, but google says "Mode" can be used as another term for "Mood" so basically ran with that :)
The theme inspired gameplay directly by changing the characters appearance and gameplay controls/elements.

The art is very clean and well put together. I don't know if I would describe the "defeat" face more accurately as disappointment or bemusement, but I love it nonetheless. Great job!
Honestly I've always felt like art hasn't been my strong suit, so I'm happy to hear it turned out clean, thanks!
I did try a few facial designs for the defeat face, but after realising some of them looked similar to the emotion faces, I tried making one that looked apathetic and just thought it looked pretty funny and ran with it, glad to hear I made the right choice. 😄
This game has really good presentation and the character movement is super satisfying to watch. I think it could have been made even stronger by giving the moods more diverse control changes, as I sometimes felt very little difference between certain moods. Keep on emoting!
Thanks for the kind words & feedback, and you're absolutely right about the control changes. I had planned to add more effects like fear had, like rain to obstruct view while sadness was active for example, but ended up running out of time.
Tempted to come back to this one day with fresh ideas and really make it complete, I ended up really enjoying the idea throughout development and I think there's so much more I can do with it.
Looks like the both of us had a similar interpretation of Mode and choice of game genre in the endless runner. The icons for the emotions on the left side were a good addition. The music choice is calming. I liked it.
Oh man, that wiggle slide is so smooooth. I like that the emotions reflected different aspects of the controls, like anger was fast to move, but resistant to slow down. I don't think I've seen that idea done before.
Very simple, but very enjoyable. Although it'd be nice if you earned points more often but that's just an aesthetic thing.
So much fun! Also feels incredibly smooth and responsive and the difficulty is perfect. Great job
Fun game! I could tell the different emotion modes felt different to control, but I wasn't really sure in what affect they had on me and how as the player I was supposed to respond to the different modes. I like the fear mode since it has a significant impact on the gameplay. Overall it's a cool game with a unique idea and fits the theme well.
So cute, love this idea so much!
Very fun! Easy to pick up, relaxing to play, flow state achieved :)
Really fun game, i really like how the game changes playstyles and colors making all the emotions different from each other.
Super fun little arcade game! I also really like the different playstyles the different emotions have! Great job :D
the way the player moves is so satisfying and im actually curious how you achieved that!
I'm really glad people are enjoying the characters smooth moves as much as I do, I'm super happy with how it turned out in the end. 😄
Admittedly it is held together with the code equivalent of duct tape and paper clips, but sprinkle a little maths on top and you've got yourself a satisfying wiggle. 😁
I don't remember if there's a dm system on Itch, but if there is and you want a proper code example, let me know and I'll see what I can dig out of my files.
I really like the interpretation of the theme :)
