Nothing but praise for this, excellent work! The gameplay is crisp, the mechanics are amazing, the level progression is on point, the music is great and the audio is very satisfying! Teach me your ways.
the absolute polish of this game lol, is really really polished, and very well made, the UI is excellent, and the game teaches you how to play in a non annoying way, like a good tutorial has to be, the puzzle platformer combination really shines in this game, congratulations, i loved this game!
This is the best game I've played in this jam. Amazing work. I didn't make it to the end of hardcore mode though cause I'm too sucky.
I didn't expect anyone to 😄
Yet somehow a few people made it.
Thanks for playing the game and good luck with the jam!
why this game is perfect for me i mean i quickly completed all the levels it was like i was made to play your game, and also i'm a huge puzzle game nerd so i've got some experince which broke my heart when the game lagged so hard on the browser, then i was like nope i will play this game and downloaded it, but sometimes that will also lag but not as often. overall i have one more thing to say to you : FINISH THIS GAME!!!
It was just amazing, ty for making my day :)
Thanks for the kind feedback :D
And actually, concerning the lag.
It may have lagged worse for you because you were completing the levels so fast :)
As the levels are un-loaded they remain off to the side and slowly deconstruct so as to not affect performance too much.
If you complete the levels quickly they can't deconstruct fast enough and things start to lag
You're just too good :)
Thanks again and good luck with the jam!
Great puzzler.
Cool game! the graphics are amazing!
Cool concept. Well thought puzzles and mind-bending mechanics. Love it! Full stars well deserved. The only thing I would change is the pause button being on the player to a key or UI. Other than that great game.
Thanks for playing, and yes I would agree with you concerning the pause button.
That was kind of an experiment on my part (trying to remove all ui from the game screen) but I think there's some value in having that visible on screen at all times.
I like the idea, I like the art and I like the gameplay and the music! Awesome! Really interesting game! Good job!
P.S.
I was curious to look at the code in GitHub ;)
Thanks for the feedback.
And good luck finding your way through the code.
I always try to start off organized but by the time I get to crunch time things start to get a little more muddled :D
The most interesting game I played so far!!!
You deserve way more ratings, your game is just awesome!
ok the visuals are poor, even though I like the color palette, but everything else is great, the music is perfect to fit the game style, the sounds are nice (never annoying), but mostly the gameplay and the game design, it's a really awesome idea, I love this upside/down theme
I'll keep it in my collection to play it again after the gamejam!
Glad you liked it!
And yes, the last game jam somebody commented that I use "programmers art" (aka squares...)
And I feel like that describes my art style perfectly :D
Things for me to work on but I'll make the best of the skills I've got for now.
Good luck with the jam!
I Played it all the way through to the end, even the hardcore mode. The art was consistent and the music fit with thee game, the gravity swapping takes a bit to get used to but is easy to master, I encountered a few bugs in the 3rd hardcore level when I died at the same time as swapping gravity but aside from that it was a good experience!
Great, glad you enjoyed it.
And WOW, I didn't think anyone would make it to the end of hardcore mode.
You have more patience/skill than most of my play-testers (family members) do :D
Good luck with the jam!
I absolutely loved this game. Hands down the best one I've played yet this jam. It feels so polished and fully-realized. The difficulty ramps up in a steady fashion, the transitions and actions feel impactful, the visuals are striking in their simplicity. Such a well-done game for only a week. Props!
Great game with an amazing premise! Everything felt so good in it, the music, the visuals, the effects, it all felt amazing!
Do you have any plans for it after the jam?
Also, check out my game if you get the chance!
I do not currently have any plans but I may try to add some more content at some point and release a "full" version if there's enough interest :)
Strong visual style, the music fit well with the tone, and a super interesting mechanic. I never felt challenged by the puzzles, but I could see how difficult something like this could easily become.
THEME: I like your take on the theme.
VISUALS: Simple but good.
INNOVATION: This game is really innovative, I've seen some of these mechanics before in games but not all together.
SOUNDS: Good.
MUSIC: Really good and it fits well with the game.
DESIGN: The level design and puzzle elements were really good!
OVERALL: Really good game!
From the very first second the game opens (well even from the Itch page) it's easy to tell how much time you put into polishing everything, which culminates in the game being incredibly crisp and satisfying to play.
The art was good and consistent, the pacing was fantastic, the sound added the necessary punch and the music was fitting.
The only thing I had on my mind when playing was "why the mouse?" It felt as if the gameplay could have been even smoother if I was switching the zones with another key, as for the majority of the game it didn't matter so much which of the cubes you used to switch zones. That said, if you still wanted to keep it directional you could perhaps use the arrows. Not sure, would be interested to hear if you had a particular reason for using the mouse there.
But, really, such a great submission!
You bring up a fair point with the mouse controls.
That control scheme was kind of a carry-over from some original prototyping I was doing at first and I just never questioned the controls.
With the current game it would totally be doable to swap with a key rather than a mouse click.
I was also intending for the digging mechanic to play a more central role in the game (which I thought may be better suited to the mouse).
But I found it was easier to design levels which utilized the world-swap mechanic moreso than the digging mechanic.
If I do end up adding more content and releasing the game I will definitely consider adjusting the controls.
Thanks for the feedback and good luck with the jam!
Simple idea yet so muck fun :D Level desing is solid and the music immerses you to the cubes :d. I cant say anything bad to this game its brilliant. There was a bug where if you repeatedly die in the hardcore levels you can clip trough walls :/ Other than that loved it :D
Note : Can you check out my game too :d
Overall this is great, its got clean transitions and you didnt slouch on the menus and usability either which I appreciate! I dont really have anything bad to say, while it is a cube based game I think you wrangled the art style well and it worked for you, plus the puzzles were good without being too hard
This is one of the best games I have seen in this jam - It spans from a simple idea but is masterfully designed to become extremely difficult and mind-bending! I genuinely cant think of a "downside" to this game!
Awesome game! I played through the whole game (normal and hardcore)! This is the most polished game I have tried yet! Nice work!
Really cool idea of a space-based puzzler with interesting mechanics. Looks super slick and is a pretty complete game, you can really be proud of this! The theme is a bit of a stretch, but who cares with this as the end-product? ^^
Awesome stuff!
