Really interesting concept. I really like the idea of a puzzle game where the player can control the level with buttons. The player controller was also nice to control, it was a little floaty but I think that's perfectly fine for a puzzle platformer game.
A couple suggestions, I think the difficulty curve is a little steep. The difference in difficulty between the first and second level is a little big. There were also a couple things level design wise that could be touched up on. For example in level two there is a blind jump near the beginning which is never fun.
Overall great game, I had a lot of fun playing it!
Interesting concept and great work for the given theme. I loved the character design and the environment set up. Puzzles are really well made, although I found level 2 really difficult and got stuck there. But I can surely tell great effort has been put into designing the puzzles. Also, loved the music. Great work man!!
I'd really appreciate if you can play and review my game when you get time. Thanks!!
Thank you for the Feedback! Our Music designer Luiz worked especially hard on giving out game the right ambiance! And yes we may have gone a little overboard with level 2 the curve was steep and probably would have been better for a level 3 or maybe even higher, sorry about that one! We will also take a look at your game wich from what i just saw real quick has amazing artwork!
Thank you for your feedback! Yeah the whole buttons being gone was kinda more because making puzzles is definitely not my speciality so I figured to make it at least somewhat challenging is to make every move count, but then i feel like we should have included either a checkpoint on longer levels, make the levels shorter so it isn't a pain to reset, or add more colors to give different button variety . Definitely something that needs to be worked on but we will get it and hopefully make great and interactive puzzles!
I really liked the idea of this game. I get the feel you were going for with the design, but I think it was just a little too much to have the puzzle buttons be one-time-use along with the difficult jumps from the platform aspect. If it was just the puzzle aspect (like the first level) it wasn't as frustrating to restart if I messed up the puzzle, but that second level was just really hard to do between trying to platform and remember the order to press the buttons (especially after finding some of the buttons were hidden). Overall, it's soooo close to being a really great game!
I liked the mood, the visuals and music blend well. The gameplay is a bit confusing at first, but the ideia is interesting.
I do wish the game had coyote time as I often found myself falling off ledges and failing to jump. Apart from that however the idea is pretty cool and I like the aesthetics and sound. I did get stuck in the second level unfortunately so couldnt play very far.
Thank you for the FeedBack! However I do not believe unity has coyoty time but we will be fixing the collider to give the individual more time to make a jump! Also yes unfortunately there is a small bug there that we have been trying to figure out it might be a stray collider we are unable to see but we just may have to redo that whole area to find it so we will definitely fix it after the Jam if you still want to go all the way through all you have to to is jump straight up at that area and the fan will take you and if you get stuck you can wiggle out, sorry for the inconvenience!
The second button in the first level is hidden by a rock, making the mechanic confusing and more hard to understand then it actually needs to be, the second level is way too hard and in the second level there is a floating button the appears only when you get close to it and it doesn't change color. Also some Koyote would be really nice, because as it is the game is hard :/
Ps. Good job with the music tho :3
Hello thank you for the feedback! The hidden buttons and the disappearing/reappearing button is unfortunately part of the design we tried to give a hint in the first level by placing a few arrows just in case. As for the Coyote time, I do not think that is something we can implement in unity, I admit I have heard many people mention it this Jam but have never heard of it before, but we will be fixing the collider to allow the individual more leeway with jumping!
Coyote time is a feature that you need to code it in your player controller (the one that controls the input/movement of the player). Is a really easy thing to add (that can be done pretty much everywhere, so i really don't see why it shouldn't be possible in unity), it requires like 2/3 mins to code, and you can find many great tutorial on how to implement it on the internet, like this one right there (obviously the vid isn't mine):
(Timestamp for coyote jump: 2:45)Hope it was helpful...
The game was really challenging and fun! I enjoyed learning the solution for the puzzles. I even occasionally felt that the solution to the puzzle wasn't intended, largely because of the other unused platforms I encountered. I found it a bit like Celeste almost, which I'm currently loving. It, however, was a bit frustrating where I had to do things over and over again, especially with the long levels, parts where precise movements are required, and sometimes repetitive actions and challenges, like climbing up the ladder in the beginning of chapter 2, though I see these are part of the design. It also, as mentioned previously, had a bit of a difficulty spike in level two. I liked the clever idea of moving while things were changing. I loved the music. However, I was unable to progress beyond the second level due to a bug where I got stuck on the corner of a fan as shown here:
Overall, though, great game! I can't wait to see what you do next!
Hello Yes, sorry about that, the bug is strange and I Have been trying to fix it for awhile, if you would still like to progress you have to jump straight up there and then sorta move in, for the life of me I can't figure out what that is and might just have to redo that part as a collider might have been left hanging around that i can't see/click . Thank you for the wonderful feedback, when the Jam is over I will probable update it but I don't want to do so now as that might be a bit unfair.
Criticism - I definitely feel like the second and third levels should be swapped as the second level was the hardest out of the bunch.
Support - The concept is very cool and reminds me of this concept - http://www.squidi.net/three/entry.php?id=1. I also liked the simplistic art design.
Yes, it probably would have been better to do so, it was a bit of a last minute add on that went hard core, lol and thanks for the article I haven't actually seen this before, this was an idea I had ratilling in my head for some time, though the concept was going to be more Day vs Night kinda stuff and it sorta became black vs White for the less is more theme.
I find the game too hard, I made it to second level. I really liked the music which make the game very athmospheric.
Great atmosphere in this game. The BG music was just downright creepy, loved it! The jump felt way too floaty for me. Awesome puzzles with the switches changing the colors. Great job with this!
Thank you our sound designer Luiz did all the music and sound effects himself and worked really hard on them! as for the jumping yet it was a bit high and light but we figured it was better for level 2 as the extra time would give the player to kinda right themselves for some of the platforms but we will work on trying to make it a bit heavier, we just haven't found that sweet spot yet lol.
Great idea, definitely something you should flesh out once the jam is over!
