Real fun and refreshing game. Definitely worth a play through.

Developer

thanks!

Cool idea, and I loved that I can go really low health and still protect myself with armor, but it was annoying to dodge all the other hearts, because they take away my power.

I unsure whether the game is endless or maybe a boss will spawn on round X. Also I expected a little more challenge.

Overall nice game though, great job :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! Right before I uploaded the game to the jam I did do some tweaks to the difficulty, and made it a little easier than it probably should be, whoops!

Great pixel art and gameplay! The music is great too! Good job!

Developer

thanks so much!

Really cool game! The pixel art and music is great. I really like the gameplay and the option of range and melee attack. Overall very good game! Well done!

really cool and simple game made it to wave 7 on my first try

The pixel art is amazing

Developer

Thanks! And not bad!

very funky fun game to be honest definitely  something you can just hop and play.

Really cool...wished there were more enemy types...made it to level 11 =)

Developer(+1)

ya, i had some more enemy types planned but ran out of time to get them in. One of the fun ones was a vampire hunter that mixed both melee combat and ranged combat, as well as placing bear traps around the map. He had some bugs that I couldn't fix so he got scrapped. I'm thinking of continuing development so here's to the future eh!

Submitted(+1)

That was really fun! Super smooth gameplay, and both attacks just felt super satisfying! I did however just run around with 1 heart and 3 iron hearts which was almost to op but still, great job!!!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I've already been looking into different ways I can tweak the combat and balance it more!

Nice game,  I liked having two different spells to use, and the sprite getting angrier with less health was a nice touch.

I would add some UI to show the cooldown of the abilities

Developer

Nice game, I like the graphics!

Submitted(+1)

I liked it, but I thought it could use a little more juice

Developer

Well good news! I'm going to keep developing this and make it a legit game! Thanks!

I really like this! Great use of the theme. It started to get strategic for me because towards the later wave, so many health spawn and if you accidentally pick one up , obviously you get weaker, so you can choose to have higher health or take the hits and gain higher damage. Love the use of grey hearts by the way. Gives me the chance to survive while i can deal a great amount of damage. I totally abuse them :') Im on wave 15 rn

Submitted(+1)

Also not being able to gain extra damage until you remove all of your grey hearts was really smart too

Developer

I'm glad you like it! This is  my first completed game after college! I think I'm going to keep working on this game after the jam ends!

Submitted(+1)

That's awesome, i wish you the best!

Submitted (1 edit)

btw, is this endless or does it end at a certain wave
Edit. Made it to wave 31 so im thinking it doesnt end at all lol. very good though. I did even realize that i could dash until level 30 and thats because i pressed it by mistake haha

Developer

In its current form it is endless but I put a cap on the amount of enemies that can spawn. So eventually you hit "max" difficulty

Submitted(+1)

I quite like how you incorporated the theme to give that less is more tradeoff between health and damage. As a game jam game, I think this is really well done. If you're looking to release this at a later time, I think the game would benefit from the enemies telegraphing their attacks a little more.  Also, maybe let the player pause/exit to main menu from within the game.

All in all, well done and congrats for finishing the jam!

Developer

thanks! I have a patch in works for as soon as the jam is over and uploads are unlocked again!

I really like the creativity and the way you implemented the theme. The art is awesome too. Rated 5 stars.

If you have a second check out my submission too.

Developer

I'll definitely check it out later when my shift  is done! Thanks!

man, what a waste, the game has an excellent concept but a not so great execution, to make it really shine, you have to fix the enemy AI : if you are far enough, the enemies don't chase you, and they only do it if you attack them. So, if you put yourself in a certain distance, you are basically invulnerable, and can pass entire waves almost without moving , after the round 15 i was really bored. i didn't use the dash movement or the purple thing attack at all , because you don't provide enough encouragement to use them within your game,  what i'm trying to say is, given the chance, the player will optimize the fun out of a game, and that was the case with this game...i say this as a constructive critic, remember that i really like this game, keep making cool games!!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Initially the game was to have more exploration, so the AI was coded not to start attacking until their target was in range (or attacked). The exploration was cut as I did not have time to finish my pathfinding algorithm and changed it to the wave based arena that is uploaded. I plan on expanding this game, and will definitely keep your comment in my notes! Thanks

Developer

This is my first game jam and I really under estimated the difficulty of the time limit!

Submitted

wow, congrats for making it to the end, really cool game for a first jam , you should be happy with your results.

Im happy that my feedback serves you to get better.

"This is my first game jam and I really under estimated the difficulty of the time limit" lol, this is so true with every jam, I participated mostly in 48hs game jams, you can really feel the pressure on those jams...this was a very relaxed one for me...

Cool game! I got to round 11. The graphics looked really nice and the screen shake from getting hit felt perfect. I liked the idea of the shield harts that would give you extra protection but keep your power level up. Overall I felt this game was super well designed and I really enjoyed it. I had many of the same ideas with mine, down to the vampire inspired life stealing and getting more powerful the closer you are to death.

Overall great game, check out mine if you get a chance!

You need exit UI for downloads or a HUD with instructions if it goes full screen, but the overall experience was fun.  Nice game!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I ran out of time to code in an escape key menu in the game, but in the main menu there is a quit game button, and in game if you die it brings you to the main menu.

Submitted(+1)

Well either way it's a fun game and I liked it, time frames are rough.  Good job!

Developer

Thanks!
