The art and the music are very cool, congrats! Controls feel good to play too, but it's a little too difficult for me, especially with the keyboard (maybe with a controller?)
Play game
Celestial Conquest's itch.io pageGame's Take on the Theme
The game focuses on planets (that spin) and also the second boss's main mechanic is spinning
Did your team make the majority of the art and music during the jam?
Yes

What a hard game lol.
The graphics are amazing, but one criticism is that the game should have a pixel perfect camera , it would make the make the game feel much tight and snappy, some pixelart styles work without it but a retro style game like yours would benefit alot from it.
The music does not loop, or so i think? But the soundtrack is very nice, as MegaStrimp said, reminds me of megaman!
Very nice game, good job!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm sorry you found it too difficult but several people in the comments have told me its too easy so now im a bit conflicted... I made sure that all the pixels with exception I believe to the health and flight bar to be the same scale relative to each other so that no pixels would be larger but I agree that the game would benefit from a pixel perfect camera. I tried using one but it was causing some problems when I was making sure that the game would work on screens with different aspect ratios.
Oh yeah, the pixel perfect does that sometimes. I have not made a pixelart game in a while but from what I remember, there is some way to fix it like locking the aspect ratio to ceirtan resoloutions? im pretty sure cinemachine has a built in pixel perfect camera and it's a little less confusing. As for the difficulty, i just suck at 2D platformers lol
As a 1Bit pixelart fan, I can only love the visual and atmosphere !
Lovely art and music, bosses could use more difficulty but other than that its pretty chill tbh. well done!
I think the music is the highlight for me - it brings a lot of soul to your game. I would appreciate having some way to either shoot towards the cursor, or shoot directly upwards; it is not easy to put a lot of damage into the dark moon boss if you have to jump to hit it once or twice, so options would be nice. Also, having just 3 hit points feels super tough. The hand drawn planets are really, really awesome, and it helps the art stand out from the crowd. Good work!
Love the art and sound! I wish I could aim towards the mouse tho
