Wow, the cohesive art style stands out. More of that, please.

It does feel unfinished, but this is a remarkable display of talent. Be proud; congrats to the developers.

It reminds me of a coloring book or old Windows point-and-click games.

My only critique is it may come off as too childish if not careful, and remember, always have a demographic in mind when putting in the long-term time on a project. Of course, if kids are the target demographic, then great job all around!

My favorite part was the giant dog head at the ship's top.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

it's definitely unfinished.  We're going for the "cozy" demographic :-)

If you're talking about when juno's head appears in the telescope as she jumps around on the surface? that's actually a bug (that may stay in :-) ... the telescope "lens" is a sphere (the only "3d" object in the game) which is texture mapped with a RenderTexture from its own camera -- but I forgot to clear the "Radar" layer from the LayerMask of the camera, so you're seeing the (rather large) radar/minimap icon of juno :-)

I love the art, I just wish I could maneuver a little more effectively around the level, also finding 100 gems seems like it'd take quite a bit of time.

Developer

... about as much time as defeating 10 roasters ;-) ;-)

got me there! :P

A cute little game. I really like the art style and animation.

Not sure what's your intended screen size, but the window seems to be cutting some edge off, you might want to check that.

Developer(+1)

yeah, the game was developed with 1080p resolution in mind, but I neglected to check other resolutions before I posted to itch.io.  I have a fixed version, but in the spirit of the jam, I haven't uploaded it (there are other fixes in there, too).  After the rating period, I'll upload a new version.  Thanks for the review

Make a useful dog like to go get gems for you

But a nice drawing

cool game

I like the idea and the animations, also the dog follow well the main player. I miss to have enemies to kill. The gun last is so cool

Good start.

Good graphic style.

Very cute art and it's very clear the floatyness is intentional, I wonder if it's possible to fine tune it some though.

Submitted

the floatiness made it pretty hard to control the character, but I really like the art and vibe.

I love the art so much, it's really cute !

Such a nice looking game! I love the cutscenes and particle effects!

This was fun! It reminded me a lot of the old gem collecting games I used to play on Sega and SNES as a kid. Love that nostalgic video game sensation.

I love the dog! Really good proof of concept! I think you can make this into a really fleshed out game :D I wish you luck

Nice! I sunken into your maze and was able to find all 100 crystals, but nothing happened. I really like art style, and design, it just miss some enemies and it would be brilliant!

Developer

I admire your persistence :-), but yeah, it's broken at the end of the level.  I'll be putting up a _significantly_ enhanced version after the rating period!  Keep an eye out!

Really good graphic and cool concept that you can only push away but not kill enemies, but the gameplay is lacking something.

Developer

One of the main things it's lacking is "being able to lose" :-) ... the idea is that the enemies will crawl on the walls around the crystals, and be electrified.  If you zap them with your laser, they will "pillbug" and bounce around, but leave behind a "fuel cell" for your jetpack (which will run out of fuel).  There are also plans for a "boss monster" type critter, and critters which "eat" the pillbugs and eject crystals.  The game is far from done, and we're not giving up on it!

It  is a very cute proof of concept, I can see a good game base here. Good job on getting this snippet of it in the jam time   ^-^

Great work! You said in the description that it was unfinished, so considering this I think this has great potential. The art style is adorable, I'd love to see the dog given its own mechanic, maybe it can sniff out the crystals? Either way, great work!

Developer

The plan is for juno to fetch crystals for you (right now, she can pick them up, but it's usually by accident :-).     You will also eventually have (more) limited fuel, and will be able to refuel from the pillbugs -- which will be electrified until you shoot them, and then they'll pop out an energy sphere to refuel your pack (or, you can go back to the ship and refuel).

So adorable! Loved the easter eggs (SS Jellybean) and fun intro (some rock near home) made me chuckle. Would have loved to play more! Please do check out our game too.

Developer

The text "some rock near home" is actually used as a random seed for the level, each level (only one right now) will have its own unique seed.  eventually, you'll be able to "chart a course" to a level to maybe find more "interesting" seed that you could share.  Thinking about adding timed levels, leader boards, etc.

Very cute aesthetics! Impressive that you incorporated a mini-map.
