How does your game fit the theme?
You play as a scuba-diver, where you dive into the ocean and try to go as deep as you can while dodging obstacles in the way.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote pretty much all the code on my own, along with all of the art, animations, and audio (using Chiptone).

Also, like in 2023.1, I asked ChatGPT for this game's title.

12826. Not bad.

This is one of the better games I've come across here. I love the visual and audio design. The diving animation at the game start is something that I actually wanted to do as well, but couldn't find the time to do something like it. Great work.

As I was dashing at each interval, I thought to myself, I wish the green area was getting smaller so it would become harder the more I dashed, but I realized, eventually, that very slowly it was speeding up. At one point I was getting into a rhythm of perfect dashing, over and over. I barely saw any rocks for a while, I was just moving too fast, too perfectly!

I would love to see further updates, maybe adding the artifact/upgrade system you were initially thinking, to give this game some more depth (no pun intended).

Great submission, good job!!!

Really impressive work! I loved the art and animations, and the sounds also match the vibe perfectly. The gameplay is fun. I would recommend that the boost meter changes size and slightly moves as a way to make it harder to hit.

Very unique mechanics! At first I thought it would be too easy, but the longer I went, the harder it got to multitask diving and controlling the diver :D Great game!

Good game! creative idea)

Its a good game, but I feel like it needs to get more difficult the more you play. Maybe slowly increasing the player speed as well as the amount of obstacles, and adding a bit of variety over time.

Like the visuels, really found internesting the idea of having 2D-3D objets mixed together. The game kind of needs a difficulty rise, making the character go gradually faster at the beginning of the game for example.
But the game's basis is really good ! :)

Very much like the visuals. The gamaplay needs some challenge, but the core feels fine. Also, the boost feels underutilized - if there were enemies/obstacles that cannot be destroyed/avoided without boost, it would be so much cooler. I like the way it is integrated, it adds a nice rhythm game element without fully making it a rhythm game.

Great game. I really like the 2.5D visuals. I just think that the game needs some form of difficulty rise. especially since the amount of boosts you did is 99% of your final score. I got to 18089.
But it was still a really fun game to play, with great visuals and sounds.

Great game. Keep it up♥

Very good game! I like the art style with the voxels, its very cool. The movement was a little weird to get used to, but once you are used to it, its pretty fun!

Overall a pretty good game!

8444, that was my high score.

Movement in this took a bit to get used to, but once I did it was actually a lot of fun! It just makes more sense that a game which takes place under water would feel more slippery.

And I can definitely relate to having to scrap things that were going to be core elements of your game (there was a boss fight that was 90% complete for my game which I had to scrap last minute), but the adaptation you made works really well.

Also, really nice job on the 2.5D visuals. It's not a common style, but you nailed it.

This game is beautiful and fun!

Things I enjoyed ✔️

  1. I love the art style so much! Mixing voxel and 2d is superb!
  2. The audio is great!
  3. Gameplay is so much fun! I was confused on what to do at first but it all worked out in the end.

Things I would like to possibly see with your title. 🤷‍♂️

  1. Maybe have some upgrades for the character, like a split shot, but then it increases the difficulty in the game (Your game is amazing! This was just a random idea I had while playing it)

Overall 📓

You did a great job on this title! I am very impressed with it, and you should too! It is a very polished experience and I enjoyed my time playing this game alot! You should definitely pat yourself on the back!

Developer

Thanks for the review and feedback! :)

surprisingly enough, i was actually planning on adding upgrades to the game that you could buy with the stuff you collect, but due to time restraints, I ended up repurposing the currency as ammo for you to shoot at boulders/obstacles

Nice visuals but the sound is a little weird.. nice simple game

Interesting game... Didn't understand first that you could use the downwards boost... I read that you wanted to implement upgrades, which sounds like a good feature but it was fun the way it was! Good job!

I think the rhythm mechanic is a great addition to this type of game, the graphics are great as well!

Loved that 2d and 3d concept!  Adding music would add to this game.

Nice 2D.5 entry. The colours and art really have come together well. I think it could do with a catchy soundtrack to match. The web ve4sion looked good. Make sure to fix that typo after the jam as u said. Can be easy to forget these things haha . Well done 😄
