Wonderfully enjoyable puzzle game with a very nice game flow! The guide notes could be more obvious where they are since I ended up missing them a couple times, maybe drape them over the middle sign but the icon designs were really smart too since it actually represents what they do like, mirroring or rotating!

Hi, glad you enjoyed!

That is actually a really good idea. Would help less people get confused while palying the game, which would be a pretty good improvement. Thanks for playing and taking some time to point this out! Glad you liked the icon designs too 🙂

This is hands down the best game I've played this jam, the visuals are stunning, the atmosphere feels very good and it's just such a polished puzzle game
The idea of having this weird language to flip and twist this sprite is so nice, and it plays so well with the doors of having to pick one
Hearts definitely added a bit of risk but allowed me to actually understand the game with trial and error
The only bug I found is the pages stacking up when you spam click them, but it's just a matter of closing everything you opened afterwards
And in general it would benefit maybe making a tutorial
See you ending up in top 5

Developer(+1)

I could swear I fixed that problem with the notes stacking up, damn 😑

Well, it won't be difficult to fix in the future. Thanks for playing and taking the time to leave your feedback, I really appreciate it! Reaching the top 5 would definitely be very, very awesome, but there are so many great games in the jam I would rather not get my hopes up hahaha still, dreaming won't hurt, right?

The visual are crazy. At first is a little bit hard to get, but graphics encourage you to go on.

This is probably one of the top contenders to win this game. Absolutely stunning visuals and athmosphere

Great atmosphere but i couldn't understand some things

I'm a huge fan of The Witness and Obra Dinn so when I read the description I had to play it! I loved the style and atmosphere and how the game teaches you the "rules" of each run with minimal instructions like The Witness does. Two things were really unfortunate though:

  1. One of the "correct" doors in the rune guide puzzle is not the actual correct solution judging by the rules of the runes. Another commenter mentioned this and going off that comment I think it's room 10 (the hourglass looking icon). The left most door is the correct option ("MIE") but it removes a heart to go through that door. The middle door is not logically correct but is the door that lets you continue to the next room ("MI"). I played the web build though so maybe this was fixed in the windows build only.
  2. There are at least 2 logically correct solutions to the main room puzzle but only one unlocks the final door which tripped me up. I wish there was an indicator of sorts that you need to use a certain number of runes or something. The other solution I came up with was 3 runes: "OA-E-I" which I quadruple checked, ran by other people, and confirmed that it would come up with the same correct final image. The accepted solution uses 4 runes but I won't spoil it here ;).

Overall though I really enjoyed playing this and I would definitely love to see an expanded version that introduces more runes or other puzzles. Amazing job!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

I think the way The Witness teaches you how to play is really elegant, so I tried to do something similar. Sadly, a bunch of people thought the game is confusing... well, that's the price I pay, I suppose 😅 Still, I'm happy with how it turned out, and a bunch of people also seemed to have fun with it, so it might've been worth it!

Related to the problems you found:

  • You are correct, the left door is the correct one.
My bad here 🤦‍♂️ I looked at the puzzle a bunch of times and still thought the middle one was the right one. Maybe the rules ARE confusing after all! Haha, no, I'm just joking.
  • You are correct again, that is also a valid solution, which I didn't notice.

Thanks for taking the time not only to play the game, but also to report those problems with such detail. It helped tons. I'm really thankful for that!

Yeah The Witness style of game isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's definitely mine! You did an awesome job capturing the feel of it :)

It's hard and funny. I liked.

Extremely hard to understand at first, but as soon as you got it, pretty nice.

Submitted(+1)

Amazing style, must have been really difficult to achieve this atmosphere and shaders.

Really aesthetically pleasing game! Much pretty. Couldn't really figure out what was going on though, but I am really bad at puzzle games in general so its probably just be me lol. Great work still!

Best game i played so far, innovative yet fun, simple mechanics becoming more and more difficult is very nice, puzzle games if i can call them are not my thing but I easily spent over 15 minutes trying to get the code. Awesome

10/10 :D

Simple and efficiency, art style is cool.

The visuals are stunningly good, great job!

I don't know what to do after finishing the Rune Guide, two runes are unexplained, after finishing the rune guide, coming back in and doing first door correctly, on the screen popped up "Winner!" So i think that's a bug, the game is visually great, the puzzle had me thinking, but somethings, as i've said before there are unexplained rules.
Great game!

Developer

Oh, that "Winner!" screen was a debug thing. Weird... did you play the web version?

Glad you still enjoyed some things 🙂

Stunning visual style and atmosphere. To refine it and a masterpiece product would come out.

Very cool game!

Maybe I'm still a little bit too sleepy, but I couldn't figure out what was going on my own.

Presentation is top notch however!
