How does your game fit the theme?
Our game fits the theme by encouraging the player to ask themselves "what was banging on the door?" this question is what drives the player exploration and plot and provides a satisfying ending. It features a red door as a key motif, and this door is involved in both the opening and closing scene of the game, giving it a sense of completion and adding a storytelling element.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
The code was made mostly from scratch with some help from online tutorials, art was made from scratch, audio was not made from scratch but was mixed and edited during the duration of the jam, the creators of the audio are credited in the project description under the creative commons license

Noo, the door won't open!! This was awesome! :D As a platformer it was challenging, but having frequent checkpoints put it just at the right difficulty. The art style was great, the music and sounds also (that breathing..), it created a tense atmosphere.

What I really liked though are the small details, like short "cutscenes", how it had a bit of story and it made sense, how the level was made so going back at the end would feel just as smooth as forward, all these nuances that people might not notice, but gives a better "feel" to them is what's important! Well done! 👍

Love the art style and the narrative and together with the music the game really has great vibes! Really enjoyed it. The only struggle I had were with the controls. I don't know if that's just me or my setup but the controls felt slightly too "slippery". Especially with the hitboxes of the spikes I would sometimes just directly walk into them even though I only tried to adjust my stances and pressed very lightly on my keyboard. Other than that, really great game and great work!

Love the art style! Nice platformer.

I love the sounds and the pixel art, great job on the animations! The spikes hitboxes, though, can be a bit too unfair at times

I completely agree, I got to the final (I think) mirror, but hitboxes and fall speed are too punishing. Great artwork, great sound design and I love the presentation! It's a great jam game!

The sound and pixel art are great, and I can see there are tons of level design techniques to introduce new mechanics with level. But this is too hard for me. Overall, well done!!!

Great game! sadly the Platforms didnt feel very good, but the game overall is extremely cool!

presentation was awesome! only complaints are if you're on the edge of a platform, you slide off slowly. I think it would be a little less frustrating if the hitboxes of the player were slightly smaller than the sprite to allow you to have close calls. also for the section where you're being chased by the shadowy eye wall, it moves a little too slow I think, so it doesn't feel threatening. a cheap trick you can do is make it so that its always at least at the edge of the screen so the player doesn't feel safe.

I did make it so the wall was always just offscreen, but sadly I had to reduce the speed greatly due to the long vertical segments :(. Would definitely redesign the levels to incorporate the wall more if I where to make this game again. Thanks for your feedback! :)

Nice little platformer! i love the art and the audio is really eerie and immersive. Great job!

The game feels good to play although there are a couple of things you could do to make it feel even better:

- make camera show whats below you, especially if you are moving down as you had a couple of vertical platforms which are nearly impossible to do because you don't see where you are going.

- add more gravity, so the jump feels less floaty

- acceleration and deceleration

other then that the graphics where amazing, and so was the sound, animated cutscenes were not something id have thought id see on a game jam but here we are

7.5/10  :)

Your game has a nostalgia feeling, I like it. It's a very fun game

All good, including timings and layout, but man, THOSE HITBOXES... meh!

Overall - nice job)

Really nice pixel art and audio mixing, the atmosphere's really interesting and your audio design really adds to that! One note I had was that the camera feels too zoomed in for my taste (I know others probably prefer it the way it is) and I fell into spikes a few times because I didn't know what was off screen, but overall this is a really well done game!

Adding more art could make game more feel overall maybe making less speedy of player

An interesting game, the pixelart is drawn well, the sounds are good, although sometimes the character touches the spikes when he should not actually touch them, and that's a great job!

Such a cool experience loved alot about it, does get very hard with the dashing part and all those spikes!

The movement felt a bit to fast like I didn't had much control as alo the jump the gravity felt too much like I felt like a brick haha.

But it's definitly a great game for sure like the visuals and gameplay and idea!

Thank You! I also felt the jump was a bit too snappy but I only realised after I had built all the levels :( will be sure to check out your game!
