How does your game fit the theme?
What's behind the door depends on what door you choose to assign to the empty door frame.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I use some default objects from engine and also use some audio assets from productioncrate.

Wow, when I first look at it I haven't notice it is a parkour game. Cool idea! I wish maybe treir placement were little more polished, and performence a little better, but i really liked to play it. It is a first game where I have been gathering doors to place it

Enjoyed the puzzling, the box placement is a cool mechanic. I think the placement needed some polish though, as I had a hard time placing the boxes accurately to scale the wall to the third door. They always seemed to get placed in some orientation other than what I would expect. I wasn’t able to get to the third door because the boxes were not placing at the desired elevation, they seemed “locked” at a higher one than I wanted and I couldn’t maneuver myself into the door.

Overall, good effort!

Great puzzle game, quite complex. I had hard time figuring out at first but got the hang of it eventually. Consider adding a custom distance for placing the contained star boxes. Overall, great job very nice puzzles!

Loved the puzzles mixed with the platforming. Good game!

This is a really interesting and unique game! I really like the idea of having to use boxes to parkour up places and I think you explained the mechanics well through showing instead of telling. The doors were of course very cool and you really nailed the theme for this jam. I got pretty far in the game before I got softlocked by slipping and my poor box was stranded at the top of the wall. Besides that and maybe making the game slightly less mechanically difficult (like making the jumps a little easier) I thought the game was really good! I would definitely pay some money for a full game when it's polished, I love parkour games. Great work! I would love if you could check out mine if you have the time!

nice atmosphere! relaxing and fun!

I enjoyed it!

Great job! Very cool concept

i really like the mechanics of using the boxes as platforms, albeit a bit janky at times. You can place boxes into walls as well. I guess the only thing that really needs work here would be the graphics, since they look really primitive and inconsistent but telling from the time you had until the deadline that probably wasn't possible. Still good job for only seven days :)

Really liked the game. The concept was really fun and I think you should have experimented a bit more with the idea that the player could, after placing a door, remove it and place a different one to enter a different room.

Developer

Thank for the feedback. I will try and add this mechanic after the jam.

This was fun! The movement is smooth, the puzzle mechanics work and the ray traced lighting makes it gorgeous! The part after the red door, jumping through the void is so scary :D The timer on the cube was also a good idea, as it keeps you moving and having to think and act fast 👍

Enjoy a good puzzle game! I figured out the stars are platforms and from there it was all about creativity

Developer

Glad you like it.

I like the concept, but the execution needs some work to become really fun. At first, I felt like I was exploiting a glitch by placing the boxes and jumping onto them, alternating between them to gain height. I only realized that this was the intended way of progressing because of the GIF on this page. Also, in case it's intentional that the boxes fall to the ground after a few seconds, you should add some sort of feedback before this happens. This could be an audio hint, some sort of visual effect like the star glowing in a different way, or slowly fading to a different color, or something similar. The placement of the boxes also felt a bit off. It seems like they always get placed a little higher than the "preview" would suggest. Air strafing would also improve the feeling of player movement a lot. A menu with some basic settings like audio sliders, a field of view slider, and some visual settings would also be great. The narrow field of view paired with the motion blur made it really hard for me to enjoy my time with this game. Overall, I think you came up with a cool concept for the jam that could benefit from a few changes and additions.

Developer

Thanks for playing and detailed feedback. Jumping on the boxes is the main mechanic of the game, glad you figured it out on your own. I tried to explain it through level design and let the player figure it out without explaining using text (Not sure if I did a good job on that).
And yes, the boxes falling after a few seconds is intended. I did plan to put some visuals or at least a sound but forgot :D
The not-so-accurate box placement after dropping is a bug. I will try to add air strafing thanks for that suggestion.

Fun game!

Great concept, jumping between boxes was a bit tough and for some reason they kept falling after a while. But I love platforming like this cause it kinda feels like I'm forgeing my own path.

the game looks very good and I like the game it feels unique. The concept is very well fitting. left a rate, hope you would do as well.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I will try yours later :D

It's hard to rate a protoype which I couldn't beat. You have to work on performance if you want more player to enjoy you project in the future. I believe it's impossible to precisely maneuver from star to star in less than 20 fps.

You also need to change first level cuz to beat it I had to jump around and climb over the wall to get the second block. If I put the star on the pedestal just as the game wants the door moves slightly and it's impossible do go under it, especially without crouching.

I am sorry I can not tell more but this is as far as I got. Good luck with this project, I see some potential if you work on performance and on level design

Thanks for playing and the feedback. That is unfortunate that the door did not move enough to get through. I have tested that multiple times and it works fine, I guess it is because of the low FPS. I am still new to Unreal Engine, but I will try to find a way to optimize the game.

I don't know much too but I think unreal has a method or whatever which updates not every second but every operation of physics engine. If you don't know what I mean look up FixedUpdate in Unity. If you worked with unity you should know about normal Update and FixedUpdate, one updates every frame and second with fixed interval.

And optimalization, maybe turn off some graphic options or something. Like blur or antialiasing. Or create an options panel. Or my laptop is too weak to handle your game. heh

Developer

Thank you for the suggestion. I am not using physics to move the door just changing the transform location. But I try to find the equivalent of a fixed update to unreal blueprint.

A good concept and gameplay! Though the mechanics were a little confusing to navigate throughout the level.
