Really nice concept, the idea of pirates being pushed with a water hose made me chuckle every time :D

The mechanics worked flawlesley! (IMO a big achievement on a game jam) and I felt each round had a really good increase in difficulty balanced very well with the upgrades. Maybe the water hose "feel" could be improved, but overall excelent job, very well rounded game!

This was a very cool game to try out! I liked the fact you can choose the powerups at the end of every fight with the pirates!

Very nice!! I think that some of the upgrades could stack instead of just being one time purchases which would create some more choice and replayability with little extra effort, but really fun game :))

An interesting game to be sure. Having to choose which upgrade is the best to not lose is always challenging. I've seen a lot of games in this jam *cough* including ours *cough* struggle with balancing upgrades and have a winning combination. I understand the theme and the little time you have for making it, but having an intense fight with an enemy pirate ship would've been cool as a boss battle. Nevertheless this was a solid experience. Good job

Developer

Totally agree an intense end fight at the end would have taken it up a notch,  maybe next time. I appreciate you playing and giving the feedback!

It's a nice little game!
I finished with D rank.

Thank you for playing!

I enjoyed having to shove away the pirates and how when the pirates didnt immediately attack but would take time to board the ship. Despite all this it seems I'm not very good as I had ended with an F rank. Very nice.

Developer

Haha the grading is waaaay too tough to be fair, was sort of tossed in at the end. Thank you for playing!

Nice job - good selection of upgrades really had me thinking about how I wanted to play the game and try more than one way.

I really enjoyed the unique defending system, and it was fun exploring all the upgrades available. There’s a great variety of content, and the graphics and sound are spot-on. The water visuals in particular were awesome! Great job.

Thanks a ton!

Great music, fun to play!  Does spinning with 2 hoses always win?  I don't know.  But skipping first buy definitely paid off.  I feel like the game was perhaps too forgiving, but I guess too easy is better than too hard.  I bought the turbo and I have no idea what it does - guess I should have bought shorter destination time instead.  I liked that the barbed wire was really cheap and was still great - pretty good balancing all around.  I wanted to get the cash reward earlier, I didn't get it until my third buy, but I liked it.  I'm not sure how I could have done better than the D I got.  Perhaps I would have skipped my last buy if I realized I was being judged on how much money I spent.  Great game overall, had fun, thanks for making it!

Developer

Hi, thank you so much for playing and the review! I agree some more info on the goal would have helped, lesson learned there. You actually nailed the strat I had in mind at first though, skip buy after barbed wire then straight to double barrel. The grading is just way too tough! Speaking of turbo, its deceptively useful for the price. Makes your boat go faster and the only way I myself can get an S rank is with barbed wire/ turbo only. This requires almost perfect movement and shooting though, its unrealistic to be honest. Thanks again!

I loved this one! I found it refreshing to have this style of game not include bullets and blowing up the ships. I ended up playing this one a couple times. Great job!

Developer(+1)

I love that you pointed this out because the original idea was bullets and blowing up ships haha, the non-lethal approach is much more realistic and tasteful. Thanks a ton for playing!

Also Loan Shark is awesome, you guys killed it. Anyone reading this should go play it!

Really cool to see a game about modern day piracy!

Thanks! It was fun learning about the non-lethal technology we use for these problems.
