How does the game fit the theme?
The foresight to make a move is essential, to have a plan, like in Katana Zero, Hotline Miami, Neon White. The feeling of "Nothing can go wrong..." before putting the plan into practice is what I focused on for the design of BLIND FAITH.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The in-game music. It's a track I made previous to the jam.

How many people worked on the game?

this is a really cool idea! if you wanted to continue with it, you could make cards have certain conditions or effects like a portal or a jetpack on skibidi :3

Really interesting card game! Loved the planning and strategy

Really cool game, and a type I've never played before! I really like how you have to plan out your movements and get the perfect cards in order to do so. I'm a little stupid and find myself discarding when I thought I was playing, or vice versa so it definitely took a while to get used to that haha.

This is definitely an interesting puzzle. I hope to see more like it.

Damn you worked alone on this ? The game is really nice ! The idea for movement is really good ^^ and the music getting closer to cult of the lamb when you take a bit of time is really nice ! Being able to preview the cards you will receive could have been nice though ! :)

Amazing game mechanic, very innovative. I really love the idea aswell.

One thing is that I'd find myself just standing still trying to get the right cards, I think maybe dealing a defined set of cards per level and allowing the player to figure them out would make it more engaging. Well done!

This is a very cool concept not going to lie. Doing a platformer without doing platformer is something that is rarely down, and you deserve kudos for that!

Using cards instead of direct controls feels very unique, though I do think I am spending way too much time on randomly waiting for the correct cards to appear. I would suggest not doing true random and be some sort of pseudo random, which I think will ease the frustration quite a bit. Also, it would be nice to have a keyboard button to toggle between discard and play, and also add something to notify that a bit better. I throw away cards just because of that and more waiting I guess.

Anyway, this is a very unique entry and I quite like it! Good job!

Really creative idea! Could maybe use some polish on the card use, felt like something I would use a card and it wouldnt register. Would be cool maybe to see a layout of the area and be able to build a deck for the level, and then have the drawn cards be randomised from that.

Fun game, feels almost like a deck build of sort. Had some problems flipping the cards as it felt like a random order. Great idea, fits the theme well. Good job!

The card movement mechanism is an amazing idea! I've never seen it before. But very often the cards don't work, they change, but no actions are performed.

It's fun and innovating, with great visuals and good music. There seems to be a small delay when choosing cards, which makes the game harder than it should be, but other than that, I liked the mechanics.

Summary:

Good game design concept. I think UI/UX needs some more polishing overall. User experience needs improvement for understanding controls and direction of what the game wants you to do and how to get the player to it.

What I want to see:

  • Roguelike elements where you would draw the cards in the deck. Build the deck based on what you keep. Maybe provide before the game the overall map full screen. A timer for the player to see this (countdown) once this is done then build the deck play the actions, see results.

What I think can improve:

  • Overall the user experience needs to provide more intuitive guidance on how to perform the actions. Maybe by providing a slot and then start button to perform actions.
  • More tile map sprites used, more art refining.
