Very cool concept but after 1-2 minutes it becomes uniform! needs more NPCs and probs.

True chaos, and I loved having multiple lives so I could mindlessly shoot things. For something so high energy though missing audio really makes me sad. If you end up adding it in let me know!

Developer

Sure, audio update coming soon,  thanks for playing :D

Great take on the hole idea. There were a couple times I felt like I didn’t have much of a chance to avoid getting hit, but that didn’t happen a lot. I think it mostly happened when the ships got really close to mine. Besides that, I had a lot of fun and really loved the gameboy aesthetic.

Thanks for submitting! Please check out my game if you haven’t yet. https://ntwiles.itch.io/black-hole-flyer

There is definitely a lot happening at once, A very hectic game, but fun none the less.

20 lives definitely seemed like a lot but I figured out very quickly why there were so many! Cool idea that hitting one enemy can spawn such a huge chain reaction, took me a second to figure out and I kept making it worse lol. Love the retro aesthetic, really nice job!

Developer

Thank you :) Glad you enjoy the game!!!

This is cool.  It's really manic, yet simple  I like your (4-bit?  2-bit?) graphics.  Obviously the major flaw is just how much chaos ensues, but I also think that's the charm.  Perhaps if you gave the player more freedom of movement Robotron-style, and slowed down the enemy bullet speed, then the chaos would be more fun than it already is.  Also, definitely needs audio.  I liked this though, very creative!

Thanks for the feedback :)

The game looks really clean! The pixel art really brings out more from this game! Still I believe audio would have enhanced the experience! Well done with the game though

At first I was thinking why did you give that many lives, I mean why would I need that many lives....... but when I started playing I thought why did you give so few😂😅. The art and the game view is clean and simple. Your skills are really showing up in this game as you made a fun game without fancy particle effects and visual effects. In other words it is a very fun game and I spent a good amount of time playing it. Well done.

Developer

Thanks for playing !!! :) , and I'm glad you enjoy the game xD

This game escalated fast! Good job with Nokia vibes ;)

Submitted(+1)

Love this idea. Wish the difficulty didn't ramp up right so much at front.

Submitted(+1)

Pros:

  • Fun bullet hell kind of game
  • Fun to shoot multiple vortexes
  • Nice Nokia phone game aesthetic

Cons:

  • Bit too difficult: My suggestions to remedy this is by making it so you have invulnerability when you respaw for about 3 seconds
  • Sound: I don't think there was any, would have loved the classic nokia sounds while I played this

Overall: Not too bad for a game jam, one of the games that I recommend others to try this jam :)

Developer(+1)

I would keep it in mind for the next updates, thanks for the feedback :)

Very cool ^^

Love it! But did you put "P" as the shooting button to mimic how you would play it in an arcade machine? Because thats how it felt.

Developer(+1)

Exactly, the P is to mimic the position of the firing button of the arcade machines, and also I find it more confortable!!!

Thanks for playing, by the way!!! :)

Fun little game which feels like a fun twist on the classic space invaders! Great job!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! and yes my inspirations for this game are "Space Invaders" and "Galaga" :D

Submitted(+2)

Funny little game! The twist vortex thing is great, definitely needs some sound or music, but has it's moments.

Developer

Thanks for playing and I'm expecting to add later the sound and music :)

Submitted(+1)

Very cool concept!!,you should add music or audio.

Developer

thanks, audio coming soon :)

Ahhhh I love bullet hell games. I didn't even know you could shoot the first time b/c I didn't read, but then shooting made it harder haha! Good job!

Submitted(+1)

First I thought it was a retro~esque vertical shooter, but then it became bullet hell. Love it! :D

Developer

Thank you for playing!!! :)
